Practicum-Innovative services Diversion Center. My experience so far at my site was going well, I am getting to know some of the clients and reading more information as it relates to some of the activities they like participating in during the week. So far during my practicum, I got to observe staff do group with the client and learn how to do the room checks that happen everyone. I got a chance to talk with some of the clients; this gave me the excellent insight into their lives and some of the main things they care about overall, I also got to here form the group about what their future is going to be as it relates to getting discharged construct the diversion facility. The way I will move forward as it relates to my career is developing
While doing my observations, at the outpatient and inpatient settings, I confirmed this is a career suited for my personality and abilities, where you get to teach patients how to recover and start from the beginning, and
Last week at practicum was a time of renewed energy. Megan and I had a meeting with one of our supervisors and we discussed our experiences, thoughts, and concerns regarding the placement thus far. Additionally, our other supervisor completed his IPT comments, leading us to have a productive conversation about how our goals are being met and what needs to happen during term two to ensure that we achieve the remainder of our goals. Having this conversation before our mid-term evaluation was very meaningful, and at this point, I think that my practicum placement is as good as it could be. Moreover, I feel very validated by the level of support I have received from my supervisors and how they have taken our feedback of the agency seriously. Seeing my suggestions be authenticated and incorporated into the volunteer orientation makes me realize that my contributions will have a lasting impact on the community. The primary changes that I want to see are workers approaching clients from a strengths perspective instead of from a deficit one, and more mental health training for volunteers. After learning about reframing the way people think about issues during the cognitive behavioural therapy lecture in SOWK 310, I feel more prepared to give concrete strategies and examples of how workers at the agency can empower clients by using a strengths approach. In this context, reframing will aid the agency in seeing problems as opportunities
Over the course of this class I feel like I have become a much better writer. When I go back and look at some of my Journal entries and assignments that I did at the beginning of the semester, I can’t help but tense up at some of the things I wrote. Sometimes the things I was writing didn’t flow well, or I might have even have missed glaring grammar mistakes.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
Taking the time to reflect on one’s career can increase self-awareness and enhance professional development. A career development plan is a confidential and integral document created by an individual which outlines the activities undertaken during their life journey. Therefore, a professional development plan documents one's goals and skills required to accomplish dreams and is influenced by internal and external factors. Hence, a professional development plan is reminiscent of ones’ past experiences and a glance at the future. Having a professional development plan in place is critical for graduate students in nursing because it enables one to keep track of their progression. My primary purpose in writing this developmental
I have a clear view of how research is interactive which generates more learning interest. I have the perspective to improve myself, keep informed in my profession. The experience I had during the process and completion of my assignment on research has allowed me to learn more about the importance of research. I have confidence in the knowledge acquired during the IPL group will be tremendously appreciated in anything I attempt in the future study. I am comfortable working as part of a team and I learnt how each profession is directly dependent on the other to ensure a good service is rendered to the people with respect and dignity. The researching literature have completed will enable me to meet the patient needs while maintaining privacy, respect and
Working with the clients at Silver Saddle, facilitating anger management group and being able to identify the clients needs have been the greatest experience that has had a large impact on my learning. Working with clients helped me set a professional standpoint while maintain healthy boundaries with my clients, which is something I struggled with because I wanted to be more like a mom to the clients. Talking with my field instructor helped me establish more clear boundaries, which is something that’s very import as a social worker so this impacted my learning. Having the ability to address my client’s needs while co-facilitating
I learned to pay close attention to what clients are saying and what they are feeling as well as being mindful of my own feelings about the issues discussed. My fourth and final goal was to develop knowledge and skills in constructing appropriate counseling plans. I sat in on staff meetings and met with counselors to discuss planning, assessments, diagnosis, and recommendations for individual clients. I learned that the process
However the significance, and the confidence that I have managed to maintain as a stylist and a member of my community, I am certain that I could contribute very positively in the human services field. I am comfortable around the public and have been a shoulder “to cry on” for years. I try to practice professionalism as expected and develop relationships that I truly appreciate. I am hopeful and anticipate that things will go well for me, my fellow students and with our future clients.
Throughout my final ten weeks at my placement, I have grown and overcome so many obstacles. I have accomplished a wide range of skills since the beginning and have been improving on them as I gained experience. At my placement as a student nurse, I have gained a lot of confidence, skills, knowledge and experiences that have helped me act and work in a professional way. All the experiences I have had during the ten weeks of my student years have helped me in shaping me into a professional.
I will need to keep assessing myself and setting new goals as the nursing profession and workplace are continuously changing. It will be necessary to be conversant with the environment before deciding how I will use my skills and experience to benefit myself and the society. I will keep scanning my surrounding environment to establish the most beneficial way to use my skills and experience.
The image of a pastor entering the pulpit from among the pews in the sanctuary described by Long is one that resonates with me, because it is genuinely where I am entering from. Perhaps it is to be expected when someone answers the call to ministry later in life, but I approach homiletics as a member of the body of Christ first and foremost. Experience as a member of the congregation and a Member in Discernment have taught me that the pastor has many responsibilities, but good, solid preaching is of the greatest import.
Operant Conditioning is a way of learning that uses rewards and punishments for certain behaviors. It was first coined by BF Skinner. It is also known as Skinner Conditioning. It creates an association between a consequence and a behavior. Sometimes it is also referred to as response-stimulus conditioning. Operant conditioning is related to classical condition but focuses more on why the behavior is happening & what the drive is behind it to accomplish the task at hand.
Two courses that I feel made the biggest impact on me through this course were week 5 of PEDG 5372 Assessment Data to Guide Instructional Decisions and week 5 of PEDG 5373 Student Expectations and Motivations. Both of these courses were taken at the beginning of this journey to complete my Master’s program and both were taken in the summer before my second year teaching. I learned so much more from these courses than I did during my student teaching and my first year teaching combined. I feel that teachers are expected to hit the floor running and there is no true “training period” or period of transition, you just have to know what you know and learn as you go. These courses helped me to be more focused and knowledgeable about data and how to use it effectively and also about what motivates students and
My parents arrived in the United States hoping for a better future not for themselves, but for the baby they carried in their arms. We would often move from relatives ' houses since my parents couldn’t afford renting an apartment themselves. We were fortunate enough to have caring relatives who didn 't mind us living with them since they knew the hardships we were going through. I grew up in a household where only Spanish was spoken given that both my parents didn’t speak any English at all. When I was in kindergarten, my teacher was afraid that I would be behind the rest of my classmates, given that I only spoke Spanish fluently. I was fortunate to receive free tutoring from my kindergarten teacher. We would often read books together until
