Poverty has been occurring all over the world. Poverty is a condition of being poor. Basically it means having a very tiny amount of money, food, water, and support. One place where poverty has been occurring is Nigeria. There has been a lot of poverty in Nigeria over the past 10 years. More than half of Nigeria’s population has been suffering with poverty. There have also been surges that are over 60%. Some of the reasons Nigeria has poverty is because of their living standards, which hasn’t changed since the 1970’s, corruptions is excluding the country from developing, unemployment, non-diversification, inequality, and poor education systems. Nigeria has a lot of historical background for poverty. Nigeria’s GDP per capita has been increasing over time in simple United States dollar, but Nigerians are still suffering from poverty. World Resources Institute’s environmental resource portal Earth Trends shows how around 71% percent of the populations live under a dollar a day and about 92% live under two dollars a day. In 2007, around 70% of the population lived under the poverty line, states the United States Central Intelligence Agency’s World Factbook. Many children are dying because of diseases. They have so little money and have health care facilities that are in substantial, that lead to the children with the diseases unable to be cured or treated. Certainly, Nigeria has poverty that can be solved by committing so many actions. Even though Nigeria has a high abundance of oil, it still suffers from poverty. This topic made you feel very sad and upset that so many little children are dying and there really isn’t anything the Nigerians can do to stop it. It was also upsetting to read about how so many Nigerians that were educated were having trouble finding a job. Many causes have led to poverty in Nigeria and there are many organizations that are working their best to help put an end to poverty. After reading about poverty in Nigeria or anywhere else in the world, it makes you want to try and help out the Nigerians, especially the children.

Poverty is a complex and growing problem in the United States. As of right now there is no solution. There are proposals and acts, such as Obama Care, that were enacted in an attempt to help people in poverty, and there are so many organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity and The Hunger Project, that try to aid people when they start to lack the necessities, like food and shelter. College students are graduating college with a large amount of student loans and no way of paying them off, people are being evicted from their homes, and employees are being laid off. The unemployment rate in the United States in 2015 was five percent, that’s about fifteen million people. Everyone knows what the word poverty means. It means poor, unable to buy the necessities to survive in today's world. We do not realize how easy it is for a person to fall into poverty: A lost job, a sudden illness, a death in the family or the endless cycle of being born into poverty and not knowing how to overcome it. There are so many children in poverty and a family's structure can effect the outcome. Most of the people who are at the poverty level need some type of help to overcome the obstacles. There are mane issues that deal with poverty and many things that can be done to stop it.
In Nigeria the doctors lack the adequate amount of experience needed to tend to the needs of their patients. The tools used there are outdated compared to those used in the US. The medical students and doctors prefer to continue their practice in other countries rather than staying in Nigeria because they do not believe they will be very successful in that country. There is a major lack of confidence in the health care there in that country.
Poverty can be described as many things, it can be described as hunger, lack of shelter, not having access to school, not knowing how to read and much more. Despite the definitions, one thing we know for sure is that poverty is a complex societal issue. Associated with poverty is the question of what causes poverty and how to stop poverty? The poverty rate in Uganda has declined from the year 2002 from the year 2009, which shows the percent of residents living in poverty has decreasing. Yet, the year is 2014 and the poverty rate could have drastically changed over the course of five years. One could assume the poverty rate would continue to decrease, which would be astounding and beneficial, but does poverty ever decrease enough to an acceptable level or even nonexistence? Poverty is prevalent throughout the world around us. We watch television and see famous people begging us to sponsor a child for only ten dollars a month. We think in our own minds that ten dollars is only pocket change, but to those children and their families, that ten dollars is a large portion of their annual income. We see images of starving children in far away countries, and our hearts go out to them. But we really do not know the implications of poverty, why it exists, or even what we can do to help combat this giant problem in our world.
Poverty is an issue which the world faces everyday. It is a constant struggle that cannot be ignored anymore. As you can see defeating poverty would take great efforts and contributions from all. We must better educate the youth and have education available for everyone all over the world. We also need to ensure that everyone has a job and that they are properly skilled for the job. People need to realize that poverty affects everyone, not only the poor and uneducated. Over one billion people are living in poverty, lacking safe water, housing, food, and the ability to read. There is a high concentration of communities in poverty in Africa; particularly Central Africa. States that are considered in Central Africa are the following: Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Republic of Africa, Chad, Equatorial Guinea and the Congo. The majority of these Central African states’ economies are dependent on agriculture. As a result of this dependency, natural disasters, droughts and wars can displace subsistence farmer from their land resulting in poverty becoming even more prevalent and harder to come back from. Also with a history of dependency on farming there tends to be the trend of education not being a primary focus for the youth which is another factor into the stagnant poverty trend in Central Africa.

One half of the Africans live below the poverty line which leads to low human development in Africa. The main cause of poverty in Africa is a problem in its economic system and environmental factors. Because of poverty people of Africa remain hungry as they don’t have enough money to buy their food and their basic needs. Some of the African countries have less poverty rate than others due to good government and economic system in those countries.
