Poverty is a major issue in most societies around the world. Poverty is when people live with fewer sources than an average person, who live in a decent home with a car and family that he love and care for, besides that poverty also is not just about financial and physical things, it includes emotional breakdown, like feeling hungry, frustrated, tired and hopeless through the year. Moreover, some countries have a high economic status, but they still face poverty somehow, it means countries that have no justice and have dictatorial system which called corruption. However, in some other countries people live naturally with poverty status such as Africa, Brazil and many more. Therefore, the discussion cause of poverty and inequality is vital, in three main aspects; education, lack of adequate in social mobility and family behavior with the results of inequality and finally the solutions for those inequality issues, relying on three main articles. “Born Poor and Smart” by Angela Locke, “A Great Time to Be Alive?” by Matt Yglesias, and “Middle Of The Class” from The Economist.
First, there are many issues that can cause poverty and inequality, but education is the most essential one because education has the control over the future of our society. In other words, if the schools and universities are not in the list of government interest, the future of our children is in risk, and the risk of having an increase in poverty is higher. Moreover, inequality in education should also be under the interest of government, and every child should have the opportunity to finish school. Because if a child was born in a low class family the child chances of graduating and becoming successful is lower than the middle and high class families, because ...

... were most of taxes are used in military forces. According to Yglesias, taxes are spent in social security and medical care. Thus, changing the purpose of taxes will give citizens of becoming something or at least living as an average person from a nice house and a decent car, and maybe family.
In conclusion, poverty is still a main issue in our society. However, some other countries government are changing their finance and finding solutions for developed education, family behavior and lack of adequate in social mobility. Therefore, government took taxes as first step solution, and they will find more inequality solutions. Therefore, all classes can live equally, specially low class families. Finally, yet importantly, all class families have to work hard to achieve their goals from education and better way of living for their children and the sake of their future.
Although poverty has minimized, it is still significant poverty which is characterized by a numerous amount of things. There are two types of poverty case and insular. “Case poverty is the farm family with the junk-filled yard and the dirty children playing in the bare dirt” (Galbraith 236)Case poverty is not irretraceable and usually caused if someone in the household experiences “ mental deficiency, bad health, inability to adapt to the discipline of industrial life, uncontrollable procreation, alcohol, some educational handicap unrelated to community shortcomings” (Galbraith 236).Case poverty is often blamed on the people for their shortcomings but on some levels can be to pinpoint one person's shortcomings that caused this poverty. Most modern poverty is insular and is caused by things people in this community cannot control. “The most important characteristic of insular poverty is forces, common to all members of the community, that restrain or prevent participation in economic life and increase rates of return.
The question “Why is there so much poverty in the United States?” has such a broad spectrum of issues. There is no simple cure or single cause of poverty. According to statistics from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, “the 2011 Poverty Guidelines are $10,890 for a single member household and $22,350 for a family of four” (par 13). In addition, “families’ incomes that fall below the threshold given, means that every individual in the household are considered to be in poverty” (par 13). Poverty is too complex an issue to be the result of just one problem, but we can narrow down the subject, to show the effects of how the lack of education can diminish our countries resources and how that has a ripple effect on future generations. Without an education, people receive lower pay; there is an increased rate of crime, and a higher reliance on state and federal aid, which is draining economically.
Many poor and middle classes can’t afford to take care of their families because of the increase taxation on themselves and their family. They have to suffer because of wealthy people's’ decisions. Also, the wealthy have enough money to pay more taxes than the normal tax payer. It's affecting everyone. The taxation is hurting the poor financially. As a result, their communities are being affected negatively because of the increasing amount of poor people, which is ridiculous and breathtaking.
One of the main causes of poverty is the lack of education. The U.S. education system denies students in poverty the opportunities and access it affords to most other students. Without good education, most people would encounter challenges in finding income-generating work, especially when there are few employment opportunities during an economic downturn.
To end this reflection paper, I gather some ideas from people. Some says it has no solution. For the last person I asked, he said that the poverty can be positive or can be negative. Positive in a sense that the rich people are given a chance to share the blessings and the graces they have received to the people who have nothing. Negative in a sense that the rich people abuses the blessings and the graces they have received and didn’t even bother to see or hear the voices of the
Poverty in Developing and Less Developed Countries The world includes less developed countries and developing countries. Less developed countries are countries considered to be poor and often contain many people who are in absolute poverty. Developing countries are countries like India, which are gaining in wealth. There are two types of poverty within the world.
The world contains a lot of societies, cultures, and classes. Each household belongs to some social class that represents their level of education, their work position, and their financial status. These different classes have created a conflict between people. It fills rich people's minds with the thought that poor people are criminals, and that conflict ended up with creating poverty. The authors Gilbert, Kahl, Magnet, and Gans are discussing the important causes and reasons that created poverty in comparing and contrasting these points with each other.
Poverty is an ever-growing problem throughout our modern world, with millions living in its extremes. There are many consequences of poverty and the way they affect children and family life is absolutely detrimental. Poverty can be simply defined as “the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions” (Encyclopedia Britannica 2014). There are two distinct variations of poverty – absolute poverty and relative poverty, which will be further discussed throughout this essay. The total number of people worldwide who live on less than $2.50 (the bare minimum of the poverty line) is 3 billion (Global Issues, The Human Development Report, 2012). According to many, there are a varied number of consequences for those who live in poverty, especially children and families. The effects of poverty have proven to have detrimental effects on child development and the nature of family life. Saunders (2005) reiterates these factors of poverty in his book “The Consequences of Poverty”. This essay will state the many aspects of poverty and the detrimental effects its holds within child development, family life and the health of indiviudals.
In the world today there is a lot of poverty. There is a great divide
In order to formulate this research, a questionnaire of 12 questions where distributed over a 5 day period, it was based on the impact poverty has on one’s life in today’s society. As developed countries quench their thirsts for petrol, developing countries around the world are left behind, force to watch on without any help from the outside community. Being poor means to be disadvantaged in every single way. It means not being able to support yourself or your family or have the basic necessity to life. Without substantial help for these helpless people then we should be feeling guilty that we are living lives far better than what others are experiencing. Poverty may because by wars, disease or lack of education and infrastructure and the resulting consequences may be hunger, starvation, crime and ultimately death. If poverty is not eradicated then injustice will continue, increasing death tolls and lives.
Social issues are problems in the society today that are described as wrong, widespread and changeable. A category of conditions that people believe need to be changed. Poverty is a serious social issue in the society today. According to Peilin (2012), poverty brings hardships to families and individuals as well as political thereby negatively affecting the social stability and social development and posing a severe threat to human security (p. 243). The information presented here is strongly supported by the concepts and theories derived from reliable sources.
Poverty, also known as the silent killer, exists in every corner of the world. In fact, almost half of the world’s population lives in poverty. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were 46.7 million people living in poverty the year of 2014 (1). Unfortunately, thousands of people die each year due to this world-wide problem. Some people view poverty as individuals or families not being able to afford an occupational meal or having to skip a meal to save money. However, this is not the true definition of poverty. According to the author of The Position of Poverty, John Kenneth Galbraith, “people are poverty-stricken when their income, even if adequate for survival, falls radically behind that of the community”, which means people
Those living in poverty have a lack of funds to invest in education, thus their schools lack the material and staff to probably train their students for future success. This lack of education is the root cause of poverty, because those with no education can’t compete for higher paying jobs that require basic understanding in subjects like math, such as being an accountant or bank manager. Their lack of education has limited their job opportunities, therefore limiting them from improving their lifestyle. Furthermore, poverty travels from generation to generation like an endless cycle. Also Children living in poverty have a higher number of absenteeism or leave school all together because they are more likely to have to work or care for family members. In addition, Dropout rates of 16 to 24-years-old students who come from low income families are seven times higher than those from families with higher incomes. Also Less than 30% of students in the bottom quarter of incomes enroll in a 4-year school. Among those less than 50% graduate from college(Dosomething). The lack of education and training for well-paying jobs inhabits these people from ever escaping the cycle of poverty. However, the reason many of these people lack the required education is simply that they can’t afford to attend school or earn a degree. Therefore, this allows them to only have jobs that offer little benefit, and
In recent times, our country has made a lot of progress in many fields such as science& technology, health, education, food security etc. Progress is encouraging in some fields, but education sector is not getting the attention it deserves. Especially the underprivileged members of the society are far behind in reaping the benefits of modern education. Some may ask is it important to educate these people, when basic amenities of life food, water and shelter are also out of reach for them. Is it not necessary that the primary focus should be on providing these basic things? The answer is that education can solve most of the problems very easily which otherwise need a lot of effort. For example, if a poor is educated, he can get a job. This employment opportunity will help him to feed his family members, provide them health care, shelter and education. Thus education will help in a cyclic manner. There is no denying in the fact that education is indispensable for downtrodden people. It is the only medium through which poverty can be defeated. More than 60 years have passed since independence yet the poverty is present in our country. The political parties have not shown enough will to solve this problem. So instead of being dependent on government subsidies and freebies, the poor people should be educated so that they can make a decent living.
