"Poverty is like punishment for a crime you didn't commit."  World bank's projection suggest that global poverty may have reached 9.6 percent of global population. 22,000 children die each day due to conditions of poverty.Poverty impacts everything.It affects the way you live and the education you get. This then leads to how well the economy is where you live. The most influential issue in the book “The other Wes Moore”  is poverty . “The next day she called Johns Hopkins and let them know she was dropping out. That part time job at Bayview would become permanent.” Wes Moore's mom had to drop out of college because she didn't have enough money to pay for everything. Completing college was one of her dreams but she didn't achieve due to money issues. One way to decrease poverty would be to create more jobs. To get back to pre recession employment  levels we must create 5.7 new jobs. At the current rate this won't happen until 2018.     Others think that racism is the most influential issue in the book. In the book Justin says “Just stand next to the white people. They'll get off by a hundred and Tenth streets.” This was Justin's strategy for securing a seat. This shows that white people were better treated than others. They had to wait for the white people to get down so they could get a seat.     Others think think that racism is the most influential issue. In the book there were times where both Wes were treated bad because of their race. For example, When Wes was at military school and went to get pizza with a friend on their way back someone screamed “Go home, nigger”.
