An opportunity for this immense amount is not given every day. I am the first generation to ever go to college and to be born in the United States. I would love to receive this opportunity and make my family proud. I have been academically and personally challenged throughout my high school career. I consider this opening of academic accomplishment to myself and my community. If I receive the POSSE Foundation scholarship is a way for me to thank my parents for all the sacrifices they have made for me and my brothers. I want to show them that when they came to the United States was not a lost cause and have succeeded their goal for their children to receive advanced education. My culture values collegiate learning preciously and immensely. I
As the child of two Indiana University graduates, I am very familiar with IU. My family watches IU basketball, receives alumni mail, and visits Bloomington often. However, my early familiarity with the school discouraged my interest in IU. I had lofty dreams of going somewhere prestigious and far away, but now I’m realizing the flaw in that line of reasoning. I want to be an entrepreneur, and Kelley is the 8th best business school in the country. I don’t really want to live on the east coast, and I want to be close to the community of people I have invested in here, in Indianapolis. IU also provides me with the ability to explore a variety of academic interests because of the sheer number of credits that I will begin with. I am a good student and a hard worker, and I am confident that I could do great things for my community and myself if I was picked to be a Wells Scholar at IU. I believe WHS should nominate me for the Wells Scholarship because of my academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and character.
Thank you so much for allowing me to be one of Babbitt Men’s Club Golf Scholarship winners at the 2016 Graduation Banquet. I have been enjoying school, learning advanced and intriguing new information at Mesabi Range college, and meeting new people. I plan to attend Mesabi Range College for another year; during this year I will be obtaining an LPN diploma to become a Practical Nurse, having graduated this Spring with my Associates Degree. One of the prerequisites for this program is acquiring a CNA certificate; a nurse’s assistant certificate. This course is 4 credits and I will be taking it in the Summer semester. I plan on using the money from the Babbitt Men’s Club Scholarship to pay for this class, taking the first step towards my career
I would benefit from this scholarship because not only would it help with the cost of my tuition, but the support will also help lessen my worries about my finances. This scholarship will help my parents as well since they are helping me with my college education. During the past two months and currently, my dad has been in the hospital due to having pancreatitis. In August when he was introduced with it, he went into septic shock and that day he had coded seven times. It is a miracle that he is with my family still, and with the support of this scholarship, it would help out a lot due to the medical bills that my family has. As in the past, I will work
“To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you're not, pretend you are.” - Muhammad Ali. When we pretend we are successful the brain conditions itself to become successful. When we develop the mind-set of a champion we persuade our brains that we are champions. Acting as champions can persuade our brains that we are champions well before we achieved the goal of becoming a champion. When we see ourselves as champions, we ignore the failures in our lives. Ali's quote is one that motivates us to remain optimistic. Some artistic works that express optimism are the movies, The Pursuit of Happyness and Soul Surfer, as well as the songs, Roar by Katy Perry and A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke.
Getting this scholarship was my jump start to furthering my education and I knew from there that I was going to prove statistics wrong. I knew I was going to college and that things were going to be different for me and I was going to make a difference. I won’t be the black kid who drops out of school, because my education is too important to
Being an international student in the Master of Social Work program at MSU has been a positive transition in my life. I believe that this study abroad program to Mexico during 2014 spring break will help me to have a better understanding of Latino culture which will enhance my personal growth as well as furthering my professional goal of working with children of poverty as a social worker.
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
Being raised in a Christian household allowed me to appreciate the value of helping others in need, and I am honored to be selected to apply for this scholarship for my dedication in my studies. The LCC Academic Achievement Scholarship will help me achieve my goal of helping others as a Registered Nurse. Laredo as my hometown, I have seen a health need in the community, which is why I plan to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree at TAMIU and work at the local hospital. As I devote time and effort towards my education, I have gladly been able to maintain my 4.0 GPA and be admitted onto the LCC Dean’s List three times.
Coming from a family with no college education, a college degree has always been a lifetime goal and dream of mine. My mom and dad have worked in furniture factories since their graduation from high school, and I have seen their personal struggles, and it has only pushed me harder to want to attend college. My parents have always worked hard to bless me with all they could, but paying for college is out of their control, therefore I am heavily relying on scholarships. Receiving the Phil Jones Memorial Scholarship would mean everything to me and would be a tremendous help for me while at ICC and UMMC. If I could win this scholarship, it would help me achieve the goal of staying away from student loans and debt.
I strongly believe I deserve the “Courage to Grow” Scholarship, because ever since I can remember, my education has always been the first priority in my life. Being a determined and conscientious student, I maintained a 3.8 G.P.A. out of a 4.0 scale throughout High School, earning myself a spot on the Honor Roll list every semester. Even though learning does not come easy for me, because of my ADD, I never give up on my dreams. I also participated in many extracurricular activities such as Key Club- a volunteering organization, Book Club, and the Cheerleading team. Being a member of these clubs not only taught me leadership and communication skills, but also how to be a well-rounded student.
Although I know this journey won’t be easy, I know it will be possible through the support of my family, friends, and community. I have been extremely fortunate to have a caring and supportive community that has pushed me throughout my high school career to be a better person and approach every struggle with full force. If I were granted the Foundation scholarships, I would make a promise to utilize the money in a way that would help not only myself and my college education, but my community as well. Receiving this money would allow me to focus on my education while attending Carl Sandburg College. Since I will be paying most of my tuition from a part-time, low-paying job, extra financial assistance will be extremely helpful, as I will be able to focus on my studies rather than worrying about how I plan to pay for my next class.
I hope you are doing well. We spoke awhile back about the scholarship I received from the African American committee. I followed the instructions in the email you gave me but I have yet to receive a response. I just wanted to make sure that I had done what I needed to receive the scholarship award.
I am Sgt. Shyam Panchal of the 810 Grant McConachie RCACS, and this is my fourth year as a participant of the Air Cadet program. It has been my childhood interest to become an aeronautical engineer. Whenever I looked up to see an airplane soaring through the sky, I questioned myself: how is it that this phenomenon of lift happens in such a massive aircraft? I kept questioning myself and I kept learning more about the vast array of physical spectacles that made lift of an airplane possible. At the age of twelve, when I came across the Air Cadet program, I just knew that this would be a fundamental step to a success in my ambition. Furthermore, I came to know that Air Cadets offers a summer scholarship course for learning how to fly a glider.
Gucci is in collaboration with “KOSAF” to conduct a scholarship program called “The Gucci Scholarship” (Gucci 2012 l). Gucci is a strong worldwide known brand which is putting importance for education related issues mostly to communicate with a specific country’s public. Gucci wants South Korean people to remember Gucci as an ambassador not only for luxury brands but also a strong collaborator who is willing to support students. Moreover, the intended message has been accepted by the South Korean public.
Growing up in Tennessee, the term "servant leadership" is a concept that I have come to know very well. The desire to put others first and to help those in time of need is what drives me to attempt to become a medical professional; however, in order to do so, I must first satisfy all educational requirements placed before me. In the event that I receive the Smith County Bank Scholarship, I would be able to focus all of my efforts on achieving my dream. Without the assistance of this scholarship, my ability to attend university would be altered; this is because I live in a low-income, single-parent household along with two other siblings. Often times, situations similar to mine are associated with failure; however, every day I strive to disprove
