Looking back on my life and thinking about what has taught me the most about leadership, scholarship, and citizenship is pretty challenging. What first comes to mind, however, is being an older sister. I have two younger brothers and ultimately helping to raise two young boys has shown me so much about being generous, kind, forgiving, motivated, cautious, optimistic, and a leader and role model. Because my parents could not always care for their kids the way they needed, I have always been there for my brothers. Being a positive role model to them has always been extremely important to me. I want them to look forward to their education and future. Overall, I wanted them to know what good citizenship looked like, which is why I always was involved in working with the community in service projects, as well as in school being a part of student government and various clubs. In addition, working hard in school and trying your best in school has always been a priority in my family. Being an older sister means staying up later helping my brothers with projects and homework, despite the workload I was facing. This also meant making learning and reading fun, which is not the easiest thing to do with video games and baseball always on their minds. However, persistence payed off and I am so very proud of their accomplishments as they are of mine. I cannot imagine my life without my siblings and I am extremely lucky to have been blessed with them.
