Poseidon is one of the most know gods, he is most known for being the God of the Sea and protector of all waters. He had children including Orion, Polyphemus, Pelias, and many others. Poseidon is the son of Cronus and Rhea, some say he was swallowed by his father along with Hades, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera his siblings. Others say Poseidon like Zeus was not swallowed by Cronus, The mother Rhea tricked Cronus and said she gave birth to a flock of lambs so he devoured the lambs. Poseidon could strike the ground with his trident to create an earthquake which gave him the nickname “Earth-Shaker”. (Poseidon God of the sea Page 1)

Poseidon was the youngest of the twelve titans. As the god of earthquakes Poseidon was also connected

Poseidon in conjunction with Apollo is said to have built the walls of troy for Laomedon. Poseidon was thought to have been introduced to greece by one of the earliest, Hellenes. Most of Poseidon’s kids are giants and include the Cyclops Polyphemus. As he tends to take traits from his brother Zeus, Poseidon is interested in other goddesses, nymphs, and mortals. When Poseidon first asked Amphitrite to marry him, she rejected him. He kept sending messengers to plead with her about it, and finally a messenger named Delphinus finally got her to accept. Delphinus was awarded a dolphin in the sky which was his symbol.Poseidon is very protective of his kids, he made his son Cycnus invulnerable to weapons, and when Polyphemus was blinded, he tortured Odysseus for ten years. Poseidon’s appearance is said to be curly hair and a beard. Sometimes he is shown riding on a chariot pulled by hippocampuses or horses with fish tails on the rear side of them. One of Poseidon’s special deeds is the creation of the horse. People say that Poseidon created the horse to impress demeter so he created the most beautiful animal. He worked for sometime and eventually created the horse, he worked on the horse so long he decided he did not even like demeter anymore, so he married Amphitrite instead. (Greek Mythology.
