Pornography on the Internet The Internet is a method of communication and a source of information that is becoming popular among those who are interested in the information superhighway. The problem with this world we know as Cyberspace, the ‘Net, or the Web is that some of this information, including pornographical material and hate literature, is being accessible to minors. Did you know that 83.5% of the images available on the Internet are pornographical? Did you know that the Internet’s pornography and hate literature are available to curious children that happen to bump into them? One of the drawing features of the young Internet was its freedom. It’s "...a rare example of a true, modern, functional anarchy...there are no official censors, no bosses, no board of directors, no stockholders" (Sterling). It’s an open forum where anyone can say anything, and the only thing holding them back is their own conscience. This lawless atmosphere bothered many people, including Nebraska Senator James Exon. Exon proposed in July, 1994 that an amendment be added to the Telecommunications Reform Bill to regulate content on the Internet. His proposal was rejected at the time, but after persistence and increased support, his proposal evolved into the Communications Decency Act (CDA), part of the 1996 Telecommunications Reform Act The Internet has changed the world by creating advertising, information, and businesses. However, there are the few bad apples in the Internet that have information, literature, graphics and images that have been deemed inappropriate for minors. Therefore, many people feel the Internet should be censored by the Government. The Government owns and operates the Internet and its agencies are responsible for what is on the Internet. However, for the parents with minors that are concerned about what their kids see- they should go out and get software to censor the Internet. Don’t ruin everyone else’s fun. Why should I have to be a peasant of the Government tyranny over the Internet? The people that worry about their kids and make the Government worry about it and pass legislation on censorship are the people that are too damn lazy to buy Internet Censorship software programs for their PERSONAL computers, NOT the entire United States’. The Government wants censorship, but a segment of the Internet’s population does not. The CDA criminalizes "knowingly transmit[ing] or mak[ing] available" information on interactive media that can be accessed just as easily by wondering the isles of a book store. It also criminalizes "indecent" speech that is transmitted electronically between two consenting adults. i.e. Email. The punishment for such a "crime" can be up to 2 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine. The Communications Decency Act is unconstitutional by banning speech that is protected by the First Amendment in a medium in which the user is giving the ability to select what he or she does or does not want to receive. The government gives citizens the privilege of using the internet, but it has never given them the right to use it. If we have a "Constitution" and, supposedly, a "First Amendment"- why is the Government using legislation to stop us from expressing ourselves? We seem to be a ironic and paradox country. We didn’t want to be the first to use nuclear weapons and the atomic bomb, but were the first and, so far to present day, the last to use them.

There are many but I’m going to explain to you the different types that have been created especially for the specific virus or bacteria they are meant to prevent. There are live, attenuated vaccines this type of vaccine contains a version of the living virus that is weakened so that it cannot cause the disease in people with healthy immune systems. (Measles Mumps, Rubella MMR, Varicella are examples.) Inactivated Vaccines is the next type these are made of inactivated or dead viruses with these though multiple doses are often required to build up immunity. (Polio Vaccine is an example.) Toxoid Vaccines are made of weakened toxins that would be released by the causative bacteria. (DTap, Diptheria, Tetanus are all Toxoids.) Subunit Vaccines only include part of the virus or bacteria not the whole germ. (Pertussis Vaccine is an example.) Conjugate Vaccines are made to fight against bacteria that have antigens with an outer coating which disguises itself making it hard to be fought off by a person with a weakened immune system. I hold a great appreciation for the arts. In high school, I enrolled in art classes each year, focusing the majority of my studies on Renaissance, Impressionistic, and Contemporary art. Although I have had previous education in the arts, I, like most Americans, believed 1960’s art was defined by the pop-art of Andy Warhol and the psychedelic era. Contrary to my original beliefs, the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s was more explicitly defined, in the art world, by New York City’s abstract expressionism. Artists such as Mark Rothko, used bold colors and a reductive style to evoked personal expression within their audience. Interestingly, the emotions provoked by Mark Rothko’s Color Field, abstract expressionistic paintings are parallel to those of Mad Men characters, such as Don Draper. Although the artwork produced by the abstract expressionistic movement do not use bright colors with an essence analogous to that of the pop-art and psychedelic art movements, I admire the works of Rothko displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
First, I would like to introduce the different types of vaccines and how they are being manufactured. According to Lynn Cates, who is Medical Doctor, vaccines are made from either weakened, killed, or particles of the bacteria or viruses. There is also another type of vaccine that is made from the toxins or poisons made by the germ (Cates). People who receive the vaccines containing weakened bacteria or viruses will only develop a mild case of the original disease with little or no symptoms. The vaccines made with killed bacteria or viruses will not develop the disease or the symptoms of it. The last category of vaccine is toxoid. “Toxoid vaccines contain toxins (or poisons) produced by the germ that have been made harmless.” (Cates) Example of this type of vaccine is Tetanus. A vaccination is the injection of weak disease-causing agents that help the body develop immunity against specific infectious diseases ("Why Are Childhood Vaccines So Important?"). It is through these vaccinations that children will develop immunity without suffering from the actual diseases that vaccines prevent ("Why Are Childhood Vaccines So Important?"). The field of medicine has come a long way. Vaccines are considered to be one of the public health’s greatest accomplishments to date. With the help of vaccines and public health, the overall goal is to prevent disease and promote health.
Vaccines use your body’s ability to learn how to terminate almost all germs or microbes that attack it. The body memorizes how to protect against microbes that it has previously came across. Specifically, the immune system is the part of your body that remembers and attacks diseases. Your immune system is the reason for every illness you’ve ever defeated, and without it you most likely wouldn’t be alive. It takes approximately a week for your body to learn how to fight off a new microbe/germ. However, some microbes are so infectious that that your immune system can’t quite grasp it and defeat it. In this case, a vaccine can make a world’s difference. Vaccines contain weakened or dead pathogens (microbes) that are put into the body so your body can learn how to recognize and terminate them.
After there was an outbreak of smallpox in 1000CE, the smallpox immunization was created to limit the fatalities. Eventually, the inoculation traveled to Africa, Europe, and the Americas. However, in 1796, Edward Jenner used cowpox components to create an even stronger immunity. Over the next two centuries, that method undertook several medical changes. Furthermore, in the 1930s, vaccines against many diseases such as tuberculosis and typhoid developed. More recently however, vaccine research and development led to a vaccine for polio ("All Timelines Overview," n.d.). When creating a vaccine, the goal is to weaken the virus in order for the person suffering to develop immunity to it. When the vaccine is inserted into the body, it is programed to create Memory-B Cells, which protect against additional infection (Offit, 2013). The chemicals often found in a vaccine include a suspending fluid such as sterile water, a preservative, and an enhancer that helps advance the vaccine's efficiency. A vaccine also contains a weakened part of the infection cell. When the person receives the vaccine, the body reacts by creating antibodies. In other words, the injections expose people to germs, so that their body can learn to be immune to the disease (Great Ormond Street Hospital, 2013).
The Communications Decency Act of 1996 was an outright attempt to censor another form of media believed to "initiate the transmission of, any comment, request, suggestion, proposal, image, or other communication which is obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or indecent, with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass another person." It is clear that its main purpose was to protect minors from indecent and potentially harmful material on the internet. The new law planned on imposing strict penalties for using indecent language, or discussing material deemed to be indecent on electronic bulletin boards or Internet chat rooms accessible to children. Section 502 of the Communications Decency Act states that, "Whoever ... uses any interactive computer service to display in a manner available to a person under 18 years of age, any comment, request, suggestion, proposal, image, or other communication that, in context, depicts or describes, in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards, sexual or excretory activities or organs ... shall be fined under Title 1, United States Code, or imprisoned not more than two years...." That basically covers any of the over 13,000 discussion groups, as well as...
Since the internet has been available in schools and libraries in this country, there has been a debate about what should be accessible to users, especially minors. The amount of information disseminated on the world wide web is vast, with some sources valuable for scholarly and personal research and entertainment, and some sources that contain material that is objectionable to some (ie. pornography, gambling, hate groups sites, violent materials). Some information potentially accessible on the internet such as child pornography and obscenity is strictly illegal and is not protected under the First Amendment. Some information available on the internet that may be valuable to some is at the same time perceived to be worthless or potentially harmful to some. For libraries serving the public, there has been controversy on the issue of providing the internet, free of censorship or filtering, to users. While some librarians and their professional associations align with ideals of free and unfiltered access to all information provided by the internet, some feel that filtering internet content to exclude possibly objectionable materials is a reasonable measure to prevent potential harm to minors.
With over 759 million registered domain names, the Internet has proved to be the definitive source of information (Hunter). Covering a full spectrum of subjects and services, it is an entity that we can not do without. However, despite all this usefulness, more than 14 percent of all websites are dedicated to pornography (Ward). To further worsen the matter, more than 13 percent of all searches made daily are

Today eighty percent of infants are being vaccinated for diphtheria; pertussis (whooping cough), polio, measles, tetanus and tuberculosis (Landrige 2000). This percentage is up from about five percent in the mid-1970s; however, the death toll from these infections is roughly three million annually. Millions still die from infectious diseases for which immunizations are non-existent, unreliable, or too costly. Vaccines all function with the same idea in mind, priming the immune system to swiftly destroy specific disease-causing agents, or pathogens, before the agents can multiply enough to cause symptoms (Landrige 2000). Classically, this priming has been achieved by presenting the immune system with whole viruses or bacteria that have been killed or made too weak to proliferate much (Landrige 2000).
