Pornography: Objectification, Sex crimes and Women’s rights

Introduction
Sexuality is a part of our life. It creates many industries, like sex toys, prostitution, and pornography. This paper will focus on exploring the truth of the pornography's impact on women. Some people see porn as a sexual education, self-exploration, but some research showed that pornography is affecting women in different ways. In this paper, I will focus on three areas: objectification, sex crimes, and women’s rights, which pornography influences on women. The following, I will use the word, ‘women’ frequently, it refer to most of the women, not all of the women.

Most of pornography is objectifying women in a lower image while women are dominant by men in the sex process (Lynch, 2013). A lot of pornography is around men's pleasure as the only goal of sexual activities. It results that men, who watched pornography, are likely describe women by sexual terms, like ‘sexy’ or ‘hot’, rather than by personal attributes (Frable, Johnson, & Kellman, 1997). Pornography tends to describe women as a “sex object” in the pornography, it called ‘male gaze’.
Why the objectification affects women? The objectification changes the way that society treats women. Seeing women as objects means everyone can treat them in the ways people wants despite women own wills or wants. According to Szymanski, Moffitt, and Carr (2011), the sexual objectification affects women in a mental way. Some mental health problems are likely to happen in the female who suffer in the objectification. The mental health problems include eating disorder, depression, and sexual dysfunction. The objectification caused women’s self- objectification. Women tend to internalize the view from outside (pornography or men’s opinion, even social norms) and self-objectify themselves by judging on the basis of appearance. The judgment of the appearance creates new psychological consequences that are appearance anxiety, body shame, and anxiety about physical safety. The objectification in porn portray women are just a sex object, the sex crimes are increasing in great chances because of the use of pornography, the women’s rights, like the basic unharmed principle, are ignoring by the porn industry. The effects of the pornography can cause make me support reinforcing the monitor of pornography. Some people may say using pornography is a freedom of speech, but there are risks affect a lot of women psychically and physically. The society needs to face the consequences pornography made.
