From “the heart breaker” to smoking weed on stage, pop culture has really taken a turn for the worst. Madonna was the type of girl who partied with the best of them but didn't do anything that could possibly ruin her career and health. Miley Cyrus, on the other hand, is a wild child who does what she wants and could care less about her social image and physical self. These two pop stars also have many things in common as well. But, from looking at the individual lives of Madonna and Miley Cyrus, there is a noticeable difference in pop culture over time.
Madonna was loved by almost everybody. She had a personality to die for., and “Some say that Madonna’s image is that of a girl ‘you hate to love’. One who is irresistible even though you know she will break your heart” (Greenberg 8). She was one of those girls that no matter how much someone hated her, they couldn’t help but to love her. To this day, she is still known as one of the great woman in rock and roll and as even been indicted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (People Magazine; Madonna). Madonna was also a huge trend setter and also has multiple clothing lines around the world. Seymour Stein, the Sire Records executive who signed her from his hospital bed remembered: “I was very impressed with how determined she was. I don’t want to use the word ruthless; at the time, I said, ‘Shes somebody who would take a shortcut through a cemetery at night to get somewhere.’ You could tell it in her eyes ”(Student Resources in Context, “Madonna”). She is also a very determined person when it comes down to it and will not take no for an answer. Madonna was an inspiration in the 80s but, these days, there’s a new inspiration in the pop culture world.
This new inspiration who is know...

You can see her influence in most of today’s art. I grew up on Janet’s music and I simply love each era of her work. To me, Janet is more than a singer, she is a true artist.
Diana Ernestine Earle Ross is very influential when it comes to the music industry. To this day, people have doubts about us young people going into the field of music. They feel like making a career out of rapping, singing, or acting is one in a million. Especially, being born and raised in Detroit. Diana has given us hope. She is an idol that many of us look up to. Ross is a woman of great achievement and one day someone with just as much potential as her, will follow in her footsteps.
During the introduction stage, the product is initially launched and slowly grabbing the public’s attention (Solomon, 2008). Madonna’s career as an entertainer entered its introduction stage when the Warner Bros released her first self-titled debut “Madonna” in 1983. Madonna’s “funky, rhythm-and-blues-tinged sound” (Cengage, 2003) slowly caught the attention of New York underground club dancers and audiences. Madonna and her band members often visit the hottest clubs to attract more audience by wearing multicolored wardrobe and performing provocative dancing.
she will forever be loved and inspirational by many keeping her popularity and fame for another
According to many movie critics and fans, Marilyn Monroe was one of the most talented and well-known entertainers and fashion icons of the twentieth century based on her success as an actress, singer, model, and her remarkable personality. Marilyn Monroe once said, “Fame will go by, and, so long, I’ve had you, fame. If it goes by, I’ve always known it was fickle. So at least it’s something I experience, but that’s not where I live” (Marilyn Monroe 26).
Marilyn Monroe was liked by many, society liked her for the sheer fact that she never portrayed herself as famous, but as a human. She was the epiphany of Hollywoods misguided. She created this noble character that people admired, they also admired her f...
The image has a huge effect in society. A celebrity’s image can characterize, shape and circulate societal myths in Hollywood. Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, singer, and model. People think her figure and beauty make her become a popular icon and sex symbol in the 1950s. When people talk about the name of Marilyn Monroe, a blonde beautiful sexy female's image will appear in people's minds. What has the beauty standard shown us through Marilyn Monroe in the mid-20th century? Besides the beauty what other things did she need in order for her to be famous at that time? Marilyn Monroe's status as a sex symbol has influenced many artists since her time, even though the beauty standard has been different since then. If we look at the celebrities today, we can find many imitators of Marilyn Monroe: Madonna, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and even Lady Gaga. They do this not only because of marketing and media needs, but also because people today still “worship” the image Monroe created. A half-century has passed since Marilyn Monroe's death, so why is she still relevant today? As time has passed, Marilyn Monroe's image is becoming even more meaningful and valuable. Think about the image she has created, the main point I want to study is: how does a woman who passed away at thirty-six years old, after starring in only a handful of movies, has such on the impact on women, especially young women, in the 21st century? To find the answer of how she has an impact on young women today will also show how some of the young celebrities today became successful.
On August 16, 1958 Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone was born in the world. Madonna is the third of six children as well as the middle child. She was somewhat “the sissy of the family” and she would often use her feminine wittiness to get her way (A&E Biography 2011). Madonna was raised in a devoted Catholic family and attended the Sacred Heart School through her academic years. Her talent for dancing enabled her to graduate high school a semester early and then attend the University of Michigan on a full dance scholarship. Madonna soon dropped out of college and moved to New York to further her dance career. In order to pay for rent, Madonna worked a string of odd jobs that include modeling nude, working at the Russian Tea Room, and performing at the American Dance Center. While working at these jobs, Madonna also began to pursue her music career by forming several bands and then deciding to go solo once she met Camille Barbone of ...
However, the many faults projected on Cyrus are seen as negative because of differences in behavior and mannerisms of Cyrus during her Hannah Montana days and now. Through her Instagram page posts and captions, Cyrus is using her Instagram to expresses how she is happy with who she is and that she is being who she wants to be not what the media wants her to be. In doing so she is also promoting self-acceptance and living a happy life. Miley Cyrus has gone against the critics and fans that pleading about they want the old Miley Cyrus back. What many fans are requesting is that Cyrus reverts to her old ways, to her time playing on the show Hannah Montana. During the show, Cyrus played a young pop star living a double life as a regular teen. However, Cyrus has tried her hardest to step away from her past life. I find that very understandable being that Cyrus expresses in many interviews that she disliked growing up on T.V. In an interview with Megan Friedman, a news editor for the online magazine Marie Claire, Cyrus stated that playing that role made her have unrealistic beliefs about what was perfect. In her show Cyrus at the time 11, is prepped head-to-toe with weave, dentures, and covered in make-up and she felt that this person is not someone children should look up to because of how much wasn’t truly her. Cyrus wants people to

Nicki’s apparent feminist agenda through her music and identity is being distributed to her wide audience, which covers a massive array of hip-hop and pop music fans. Her wide reach and continual influence has the potential to lastingly correct the anti-feminist, misogynistic tone of the male-dominated genre and culture. Despite her hyper sexualized image and defamatory lyrics, she is arguably a positive, albeit controversial, feminist role model, which is evident in her motivation for success, lyrical discourse, and use of and meanings behind her alter egos.
In 2002, Britney and her boyfriend Justin Timberlake broke up. The following year during the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, Britney and former fellow Mouseketeer Christina Alguilera kissed Madonna sensually (A&E Television Networks, 2011). Madonna has been a major influence in Britney's life. Ever since she was a...
Despite that, Madonna and Callas’s public reputations are far apart.√ good Callas was considered a tragic woman during the height and end of her fame,; her image was of a fragile woman and she was seen as ‘mirroring in her life aspects’ (Phillip,, R,. 2008, p.175) when she performed on stage. Operatic roles within the twentieth century are mostly heart-breaking, where ‘almost all of the characters die, on stage or just off it, through suicide or murder’ (Phillip, R,. 2008, p. 175) and these characters were Callas’s speciality, giving her a feeble image. In contrast, Madonna is considered a ‘bankable image, carefully and continually constructed in an era of media globalisation’ (Nick Jones, 2008, p. 168), and greatly known as a ‘Pop Queen’ who relies on the public for her reputation by continually conforming to society styles to increase her performances, sales and reputation. √ good observation. Perhaps emphasise the fact that in comparison to Callas, Madonna can be seen as very much in control. She’s not a victim.
In conclusion, she is a very good role model. She is a good role model because she shows people it is good to give to charity and she is a hard worker. She also shows that you don’t need to have inappropriate songs or inappropriate performances to be popular. This is why she is my favorite superstar and I wanted to write a research paper on her.
