Ponyboy Curtis Case Essay

Calling case number 47 to the court room now. We are gathered here to day to decide weather or not The defendant Ponyboy Curtis will remain in the custody of his older older brothers Sodapop and Darry Curtis or get put into foster care. Mr.Clark will represent Mr.Curtis in case number 47 case. Ponyboy will remain in custody of his older brothers for the following reasons he will still have his brothers and his friends to rely on, he is book smart and street smart, and he has already lost his parents at a young age and he does not need to be separated from his only remaining family. A foster care is a place where kids go if they have got taken or has no family. 645,000 kids are in a foster care in a year and 50% of those kids where neglected, abused, turned up missing, dead or that kid has fell into a depression. If Ponyboy were to get put in to a foster care system no one is to say he will not fall into this category.

Ponyboy will have his brothers and his friends to rely because if Ponyboy were to get jumped all he would have to do would scream and all of his gang will be there in a second. Ponyboy would also have them to rely on because if he needed to talk or just hang out than no one would ask he why or say not right now. If Ponyboy were to get into trouble than his

group would be right there getting him out of the it. For example when Ponyboy got jumped all he did was shout and his gang was right there chasing the Socs away and checking to make sure he was okay. Ponyboy´s friends will do any thing for him and with him. All Ponyboy has to do is ask and they will try to make it possible for him to get what he wants.

Although Ponyboy may be street smart and book smart he does not get the education he needs. Ponyboy is really smart and he has high grades in school. Ponyboy is street smart because he lives in a bad neighbor hood and he knows what happens to people who do not understand what is going on. Ponyboy put what he knew about what happened to Johnny and what he experienced together to know to get help. All of Ponyboy´s smarts will help him get around in the life. If Ponyboy were to put what he knows together than he will most likely be able to get out of many problems that he comes across.

Ponyboy has already lost both of his parents and he does not need to lose the only family he has left.

If he gets sent to foster care than he will most likely go into a depression because now not only has he lost both of his parents and both of his older brother. since his parents died he has really looked up to his older brothers. He looks up to Sodapop because he is nice and he always sticks up to him when no one else will. He looks up to Darry because he had to step up to be a parent of both of his little brothers at the age of 20. If he was sent to foster care he will lose the only role models he has known. If he loses them than he will most likely make bad choices in the

future.

Ponyboy will remain in custody of Darry and Sodapop Curtis because he has already lost both his parents, he is book smart and street smart, and he will have his family and friends to rely on. Case number 47 closed. Court is adjourned.
