Background

In the past three decades, the world has been experiencing accelerated pollution making it a global concern. There are various types of pollution which calls for the need to sensitize all stakeholders in order to bring down the pollution levels or avoid it completely. All forms of pollution to the environment raises concerns on health and disrupts the natural system which results in nature imbalances that poses a security threat. Of big concern are the traffic and industrial emissions that have undeniable negative effects and calls for a lasting solution.

Introduction

The state of California has over the two decades experienced increased pollution which is attributable to its industries,

gasoline driven motor engines, fire places, power plants and most recently importation of polluted air (smog forming chemicals) from China. When these combustive materials are burnt, air pollutants are formed and released to the environment. In addition, many pollutants get in the air through evaporation of solvents and paints, household products such a sprays and gasoline storage tanks among others.
California’s topography and climate also greatly contribute to its pollution because the hot climate, mountains and valleys trap in air to form pollutants. These are considered natural bowls that collect polluted air but do not release it resulting in huge collections of polluted air concentrated in the California area.
Context of the study
With the many concerns over the future of California and its environs, main purpose of this research is finding solutions to the problem. Though total eradication of pollution cannot be achieved once, there is need to find ways to bring it down to manageable levels.
Problem statement
The topic of pollution is well understood by Californians because there is huge contribution of daily activities by its huge population that result in air pollution. The terrain of California and its cities as well as the topography contributes to its increased pollution. Consequently, there is the warm sunny climate that harbors many air pollutants. The totality of these factors call for mitigation of the problem in order to ensure continued habitation for future generations.
Mock study design and quantitative assessment design
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of pollution in California and the effects to the state’s economy. The variable predictors include:
- Statistical data collected from health insurers both public and private
- Direct Financial costs borne by employers and employees
- Data from the metrological studies over a period of 15 years and
- Data on agricultural production in the period under study
The quantitative correlation will use the Likert model of survey instrument and quantitative instrument.

In addition, there is the effect of acidic rain which poisons the plants consumed that also has health effects. 2. How much does polluted air cost?

a. Lack of proper clean air standards results in spending on medical care which pushes it above the average compared to other states. Public insurers spent the highest and it is envisaged that this may push the medical insurance high making it hard to access healthcare.

3. What are the variations of health and cost effects in the state?

a. There is social economic diversity which is as a result of high population in some cities as compared to others. Industrial cities take the biggest effects while the lower populated cities have lower cases. The densely populated cities spent more on health care and not just on direct costs but on other long term costs resulting from the spillover effects on health.

4. Who pays the ultimate cost for air

pollution?
a. Employers and public health insurers bear the blow because they experience the immediate effects of health related risks. Workers also pay for the costs directly in the form of high premiums to the insurers.
The purpose of the study is to examine the effects of air pollution in the state of California and examine the related costs taken by the economy of the state. This relates to the mock study questions which must illustrate the direct effects of pollution in the state.
The hypothesis is an important element in the mock study because it uses data as evidence in forming the basis of the study. Therefore, this mock study will use a confidence level of 95% and the remaining 5% attributed to an alpha risk that implies the acceptance or rejection of its value.
