Since the nineties, our gas emissions have increased so much, the atmosphere suffers the consequences. In my opinion it is do to the slothful citizens of our country. We have so many different benefits in the United States that we tend to become a glutton to items we do not need such as televisions in every room, also, significantly, more than one car. Oftentimes it leads to driving to the mailbox right in front of the house. Therefore, Carbon Dioxide, water vapor, and Ozone, and smaller greenhouse gases such as Methane, Nitrous Oxide, and chlorofluorocarbons are released when they could’ve been prevented.
These gases collect a thick layer in the atmosphere. Out of the sunlight received on Earth, some of it escapes through space. With too much of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, some of the supposedly escaping heat is kept in Earth. Consequently, the heat causes very dire problems on our planet. “Global warming can lead to floods/droughts, increasing ocean temperatures: rising sea levels, polar caps melt (coastal cities?), and crop/forest damage due to changes in precipitation” (notes 02/21).
In order to avoid such horrible outcomes, gas emissions had to be improved; an agreement was made. In December 1997, one hundred and forty one countries met in Kyoto, Japan to negotiate the Kyoto Protocol. In this collaboration, it was discussed to reduce Carbon Dioxide and five other greenhouse gases or turn to engage trading. Engage trading is an economic system to reduce air pollution. If a country was to go over the emission’s quota, they had to buy how much of the gases were going to be over emission. The system of Emissions Trading could be somewhat compared to a cell phone bill; you get a certain amount of minutes, if you go over, you pay the amount. The Kyoto Protocol took affect in February 16th, 2005. Countries that did not participate were Australia, and not surprisingly, our beautiful United States.
Regardless of what my country decides or disagrees, I believe we should begin a new day without having to put these harmful substances on our air.

As a black woman in the 1930's and the 1940's, little power or ever respect was given. There had been no civil rights movement and Jim Crow laws and segregation were still in effect. Blacks, in general, especially women, were not given a felicitous education because it was illegal to acquire or obtain books during that time period. Maya Angelou's autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, was deeply shaped of her coming of age during the depression that caused her separation, the racism and discrimination she experienced living in the south, and the abuse she endured which formed her discernment of men.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo, a.k.a. the DRC, or more commonly “the Congo”, has experienced an endless nightmare of violence, poverty, famine, sickness, and murder for the past 16 years. The constant bloodshed between the national and armed forces has led to countless civilian deaths, or the genocide in the Congo. Before I go on any further, I must explain what a genocide is. A genocide is the attempted destruction of an entire group of people. The most famous example is the Holocaust in which 6 million Jews were murdered during World War II. It is tragic to say that history has repeated itself and over 5 to 7 million Congolese civilians have lost their lives since 1996. In order to truly understand the events that are transpiring at this very moment, we must look back in the past to the root of this problem, see what is going on at this moment, and try to do something to help stop these atrocities.

Higher temperatures can the physiological development of crops such as causing increased respirations, shorter periods of seed formation and reduced biomass production which all result in hastened maturation and reduced crop yields (Adejuwon, 2004). Global warming and drought have affected the change in the incidence and distribution of pests and pathogens which presents challenges for crop management and animal rearing. Moisture and temperature are important elements of climate which determine the occurrence and localization of pests and diseases (Adejuwon, 2004). This is because pests and diseases vectors thrive well in optimum conditions of high temperature and abundant water supply. In this way climate change and global warming has extended the range of distribution of some pests and diseases worsening the plight of farmers.
Shift to March 1860, a war had not even crossed the minds of many, though secession was growing to be an option for the Southern states. The Republican Party was still new, but searching for someone to be their candidate. Abraham Lincoln, a self-taught lawyer, needed one good speech to push him closer to c...
Climate change is a long term change in the earth’s climate. Climate change is attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. There are 328,000,000 cubic miles of seawater on the planet, covering approximately 71 percent of the earth's surface. Ninety-seven percent of all water is in the oceans. The other three percent is divided amongst the two percent ice and one percent fresh water. Making earth’s waters composed mostly of salt water. Salt water covers most of our planet indicating climate change to have a giant impact on our oceans. Taking a closer look at the ocean and our water in general can reveal several clues to the greater effects of climate change and what other ways climate change can affect our planet. (2)
The Democratic Republic of the Congo, short DR Congo or DRC, is a country situated in Central Africa with a long history of civil unrest. The official language is French, it is supposed to be an ethnically neutral language, due to the many ethnic groups found in the DRCongo. During the Belgian colonization French and Dutch were both official languages but French was more widely spoken. Today about 30% of the population speak French either as their first or second language. The Belgian colonization played an important role in the history of DR Congo. In 1884-1885 at the Berlin West Africa King Leopold II got the rights for the Congo. The many natural resources of the Congo, such as rubber, were a way for the Belgian king to increase his wealth, but it led to brutality against the local population. The rubber brought fame to King Leopold but the Congolese population, still to this day, feel like they do not get recognized enough. The DRCongo suffered a long period of suppression, corruption and poor leadership. Even after they gained independence from Belgium on 30 June 1960, they were still described as unstable. Colonialism, however was not the only longtime cause of the weakening of the country, others were the cold war and the democratic transition of the DRC...

The first Congo war began in October of 1996, due to the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. The Interahamwe and the Impuzamugambi killed over 800,000 Tutsis and Pro-Peace Hutus in 100 days, after the genocide 2 million refugees retreated to Rwanda’s western border in the Congo. The refugee camp was the base for the exiled Interhamwe and the army of Liberation o...
Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to be trapped in the Earth's lower atmosphere, which causes global warming. If there weren’t any greenhouse gases, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed into the earth. Global warming can and will lead to several problems that affect the environment in which we humans live. These problems can lead to warmer temperatures all around the world, it can endanger animals and the wildlife, and it can lead to widespread flooding from the glaciers melting. Here are a few more future effects that I will discuss in more detail.
Climate Change is any substantial change in climate that lasts for an extended period of time. One contributor to current climate change is global warming, which is an increase in Earth’s average temperature. Plants and animal species throughout the world are being affected by rising temperatures. Many plants are flowering earlier now than they once did; animals, such as the yellowbellied marmot, are emerging from hibernation earlier; and many bird and butterfly species are migrating north and breeding earlier in the spring than they did a few decades ago, all because of slight changes in temperature cues. (Shuster)
According to the Canada’s Action on Climate Change, Climate change is a long-term shift in weather conditions identified by changes in temperature, precipitation, winds, and other indicators. Climate change can involve both changes in average conditions and changes in variability, including, for example, extreme events. Climate change is one of the biggest crisis in the earth. It will cause a huge damage to the eco-system and human. We are the victims of the climate change. However, we are the one who cause the climate change.
Every other day a new industries are being set up, new vehicles on roads and trees are being cut to make way for new homes. All of them, indirect way lead to increase in CO2 leads to melting of polar ice caps which increase the sea level and pose danger for the people living near coastal areas. Pollution can have an impact in our health not only affects people with impaired respiratory system such as asthmatics, but very healthy adults and children too. Exposure to pollution for 6 to 7 hours, even at relatively low concentrations, reduces lung function and induces respiratory inflammation and, healthy people during periods of moderate
