Sarahi Sanchez 9/17/15 Political Party Preference The five topics that I chose for my belief system are Education, Death Penalty, Health Care, Taxation, and the Environment. I selected these topic because I believe that they affect and are a part of my life in many ways. I chose education because I am a student at a public school and for me education is very important, especially since it has a huge role when it comes to my future. The reason why I chose the Death Penalty is because I believe that no one should be given the death penalty based on someone else’s personal preference. Instead, the death penalty should be based on the system. I picked Health Care because it focuses on our needs and it gives us a chance for longer and healthier …show more content…
I focus on those specific topics because they are very involved in my life. In other words, the Democratic Party is the side that I correspond with and they focus more on the left side of the spectrum. As a seventeen year old student in a public school, Education a huge issue that I focus on, especially since I plan to go to college and new ideas about aid and loans are being enforced. The Death Penalty for someone else may not be any of my business but I believe that everyone should be treated fairly and given options to defend themselves with help, mainly in murder cases. Health Care is also important because it allows people to be healthy and provide them with help when needed. I feel like everyone should have health care to reduce the number of illnesses and it provides vaccinations and medications. I admit, taxes may seem like a hassle but they pay for government jobs like police officers. Without the enforcement of crime, the community would be an entire different environment. Speaking of the environment, we only have one world so we need to do the best we can to take acre of it. Being environmentally sustainable not only benefits us but it will benefits future generations. Making win-win solutions for the environment and for human beings creates a healthier economy and environment. Therefore, that is why I am alongside with the Democrats. They are more understanding when it comes to those issues unlike the
Energy and environmental issues are also another topic that both parties disagree on. Democrats support drilling for fossil fuels which is better for the environment. Republicans believe in expanded drilling which creates more energy at a cheaper cost. Democrats are advocates for using tax money to research solutions for alternative energy and Republicans just want to let the industry itself figure out the most practical solutions
Partisan Elections In the following essay I will be talking about the disadvantages and advantages of partisan elections for state politics. I will also examine the last couple of year’s election results and costs. Finally, I will discuss if partisanship made a difference in the vote, as well as if a judge should be decided by partisan vote. In the next couple paragraphs, I will talk more specifically about these topics.
The United States, comprised of much political diversity, has only two major political parties, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. The Republican Party was founded by anti-slavery activists on March 20th, 1854, and is represented by its mascot, the elephant. Often referred to as the “Grand Old Party”, or GOP, Republicans favor customs that exude traditional Christian values with a platform based on American Conservatism. As a Christian myself, the values I share with Republican ideals are a main reason I side with the Republican Party.
We propose tax credits for small businesses that provide health insurance, retirement benefits, and employment and internships to students. We also propose that tax credits be given to businesses that practice clean air and environmental safety. We believe that our youth are a key concern of the nation and we need to set certain measures to make them feel safe and secure as Americans. A measure that we feel needs to be taken is to raise taxes on such products as cigarettes and guns. The Democratic Party believes in helping American families economically and socially through more equitable tax benefits.
Political parties, like interest groups, are organized groups that effort to influence the government by electing their associates to important government offices. The first party system appeared in the 1970s and pitted the federalist beside the Jeffersonian Republican. Over the years, the federalists progressively weakened and disappeared altogether after the pro-British sympathies of some Federalist leaders for the duration of the War of 1812 led to charges of betrayal against the party. From the collapse of the federalist until 1830s, American had only one political party, the Jeffersonian Republicans, who gradually came to be known as the Democrats. There was strong factional conflict within the Democratic Party, principally between the
The Political Affiliation Quiz was the first quiz I took and I thought it was the best. It has a brief introductory explaining how the quiz works. I believe this is the best quiz because the choices are very in depth and they are not bias at all. This quiz makes you really think about the topics and make the decision on your own with no outside influence. It discusses all different topics from politics to economics to social problems. The only problem I see with this quiz is the answer choices being so long that there is room to agree with one statement in the answer yet disagree with another. I came along this problem when I did the question about abortion. I believe that abortion should only be used in cases of rape, incest or in utero threats to the life of the mother. So I believed I would pick that choice, until I read on and saw "Modest legal restrictions such as parental notification are both acceptable and warranted." I do not believe that parents should be notified if their child chooses to have an abortion. This made my choice much harder to make because it was too broad an answer. However, I do believe this was the most valid of the three tests.
Party identification is the political party that an individual categorizes them self with. Political parties came about as a way to organize citizens with similar beliefs and attitudes. These parties then attempt to influence the government by electing members into office. Today there are two main parties people can identify: Republican and Democrat. There is also a third choice, being an Independent, but for the purpose of this paper this group will not be recognized as a political party. These reasons will be discussed later. There are many different theories as to why people do or do not identify with a political party, including social psychology, issue related, and psychological attachments. I believe the social psychology theory has the right idea. Sociology is about studying human society and how it develops and functions. So, it makes sense that social factors would have a big impact on whether we identify with a political party or not.
Democrat or a Republican is a complicated question almost like decidIng on a religion, which beliefs do they feel strongly about, what do you feel strongly about? How was their ideology similar to yours? These questions are what every American has to answer. But a surprising number of them find themselves just like me in the center. Through the three surveys, it appears I am juxtapositioned in the center. In other words I am a moderate, and that doesn't surprise me because I support some views the democrats have, such as gun control restrictions, but yet on the other hand I support the republicans view of pro, life unlike our fellow democrats. I have found that these surveys seem to match up with my ideology. The political typology quiz aligned me in the hard pressed skeptic. I am not surprised at this outcome because it seems to match my ideology, and political beliefs.
As political parties adapt to the norms or beliefs of the society the parties’ definition changes along with this adaptation. Firstly, the three aspects of a political party organization, party in government and party in the electorate. Party organization is the parties’ leaders and professionals who give their time, money and skills to their specific party. They are the ones who run the party at the national, state and local levels. Volunteers for the party are under this. The leaders of the party organization would be Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus and Democratic National Committee Chairman Donna Brazil. The party in government are the party candidates and office holders, who are a part of the three branches of government
Everyone has their own set of ideas, concepts and beliefs about how a government and a country should operate. Each person considers their own position to be “correct”. Fortunately, for a multicultural country such as America, there is room for every opinion, and it is the fusion of those opinions that make America the greatest country on earth.
Democrats and Republicans have very different views, including what Social issues they do or do not support. The biggest social issues of interest include Abortion, gay marriage, legalization of marijuana, gun control, immigration, ISIS, confederate flag and racial inequalities. One of the biggest issues is Abortion, it has been legal since 1973 and democrats fully support it. Republicans do not support abortion, in fact they have tried multiple times to try to make it illegal, but still support pro life. Gay marriage became legal on June, 26, 2015 making the democrats extremely happy, but leaving the Republicans completely opposed to it. Republicans view illegal immigration as an economic threat and a violation of
Millions of people everyday faces the reality of issues in the changing world. Many difficult issues have entered the US government and have caused major conflict within it. The Democratic Party has always ensured our rights and protected our rights of choice. They are now even trying to pass health care that would apply to every American in order to help those in need. The Democratic Party stands behind the rights to have these issues, abortion, gay marriages, and most recently universal health care, legalized, that would give us more rights, by the federal government and have them apply to every states.
...dea of what my worldview is. I know that my religion, family, and career choice have a huge impact on it. I can also see why my worldview, which is rooted in Christianity, is more superior to the New Age worldview that is becoming more prevalent in our world today. Lastly, by using my worldview I was able to take a concrete stance on the topic of abortion.
These three political ideology surveys actually were interesting because I never really found a real interest in politics till now. I believe that the results of the three surveys did correlate with each other. I believe that they do correlate because taking the survey three different ways allowed room to see if there would be a difference in the results which it was not. Each of the the questions on these surveys actually circled around the same concept which was equality, and freedom of choice.
The Spectrum of Political Attitudes The spectrum of political attitudes is a diagram that divides political thoughts and ideologies into two parts or halves: the left and the right. From the center, moving to the left, the attitudes and ideologies grow more liberal, from liberal to radical and from liberalism to communism. From the center, moving to the right, the attitudes and ideologies grow more conservative, from conservative to reactionary and from conservatism to monarchism or fascism. The division evident in this diagram is very useful in helping to explain and categorize individuals that are both Republican and Democratic in the United States.
