Their behavior with the disadvantaged is like with their private property and non-humans. In this situation, the police role is very important. It is the main institution which maintain law and order in society. But the police is not serious about these issues. Here is a quote, which has been made by the greater Manchester police about roles and responsibilities of the police force. “Our role is to uphold the law fairly and firmly by preventing crime, brining law breakers to justice and keeping the peace, protecting, helping and reassuring the community.
Throughout the evolution of police, there has always been an unsteady relationship with the public. The waver in civilian’s confidence in law enforcement agencies can be attributed to the increase in police misconduct, or corruption. Then a new strategy called, civilian oversight model was introduced giving regular citizens the chance to have a say in police conduct. The public was in full support of the new model implemented through the law enforcement agencies. However, there was disagrees in the police field with the public having more power over there actions. The increased implementation of civilian oversight models for police wrongdoing has both positive, and negative attributes to the community as a whole.
Police officer normally works with community as a team and addresses any problems; they find a solution to that problem. In 21st century the police officer was required to work closely with communities to make sure maintain of social order and build relationship in order to effectively fight against crime. However, majority of racial and ethnic groups targets of abusive treatment at the hands of police. As evidence suggested that police officer stereotype residents and treating them unlawfully, some studies stated that police officer verbal and physical abuse and unjustified street stops. Women police officers face many stressors. Female officers are more likely to encounter disapproval from fellow officers, and also from friends and family for entering police work. On the other hand, the peers, supervisors, and the public questions female officers’ capability to tackle the emotional and physical rigors of the police work, and this is even when research shows women can do so. As such, the need for female officers to prove themselves to the public and the male officers constitutes some major stressor for women officers. In essence, female police officers do suffer quite more from the stress of their jobs than their male colleagues.

Police departments must execute their duties in such a manner that protects the conditions of a democratic society and addresses the security needs of all individuals and groups. The execution of these duties must also show the community that they serve that they are good stewards of the positions they have been afforded the opportunity to hold and those who hold these positions must be free from corruption. The term ‘police corruption’ has been used to describe many activities: bribery; violence and brutality; fabrication and destruction of evidence; racism; and, favoritism or nepotism.
Talking about Europe, the Law Enforcement system intrinsically incorporates the notion of police. The word "police" is Greek and originally meant a state, city (Wakefield, 2009). From the XIV century, its value begins to change, and by the police, over time, people began to see only the activities in the field of public order, which were carried out by state coercion. In the modern form the police unit was formed in Europe around the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. During this period of history was finally completed the process of functionally-organized formation of police systems in most of its countries.
Crime is everywhere and it takes a special group or team of people to stop it, or make crime less tempting to do. The main job of police and security officers is to maintain justice, order and peace. In order to keep peace police officers must go through an academy that will prepare them for most situations that they will have to face later on in their career. Some situations require a more intense way to solve a problem such as using force or putting the perpetrator in fear so they will give in to what the police are asking. In some cases the peretrator(s) are too volatile or risky for the basic trained police officer, so the swat team must be used. The swat team unit or “special weapons and tactics” is a higher trained police force. It is a select group of officers that have been through more training and more experience than the average cop. Without the police or security civilians may not feel as safe as they do now when they are walking in the streets or going to a public event. For the people who want to be part of such a unit and are willing to put people before themselves will need to know what it takes to be a police officer.
Police accountability generally refers to holding the police officers and other law enforcement agencies responsible for efficiently delivering basic services of crime control and maintenance of law and order, while at the same time treating all citizens fairly within the bounds of law. The police are mandated to uphold high standard of professionalism when carrying out their duties and operate within the laid down procedures and laws. There is high expectation by the police to uphold laws regarding due process, search and seizure, arrests, discrimination and other forms of harassments which the police are expected to adhere to. Many things come to mind when the word police is said aloud. When asked, one person provided the words “protection, and law”, while another simply stated “pigs”. We’ve all formed opinions on the police whether it be positive or negative based off of what we see in the news, hear from others, and from our own personal experience. The politically correct definition of police is “the civil force of a national or local government, responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the maintenance of public order”. In the United States of America, the police have made a lasting impact on the public’s view of them most of which is unpleasant. What we forget however, is that the police are formed of individuals who set out to keep us safe and do good. Police officers do not wake up in the morning with the urge to kill a civilian and abuse the power they hold. They get up in morning ready to go to work and carry out their jobs like every other person does.

In any given setting, police officers are responsible for maintaining order within a, sometimes overly chaotic, society. They are given the responsibility of acting as protectors of the defenseless and upholding justice, at the risk of injury to themselves or even the loss of their own life. In addition, it is inevitable that an officer will eventually come into physical contact with an individual, who may be volatile or avoiding arrest, which nonetheless increases the odds of a physical confrontation. The distressing truth is that, although being assaulted is not a requirement of their profession, it is essentially unavoidable. With that said, police officers realize this fact and readily accept the reality that at any given moment, be
