Throughout my childhood, many people have asked me the famous question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I knew exactly what to say every time I was ask that question, and my answer was a police officer. I been having this dream of being a police officer ever since my dad, a former police officer, took me on a ride along when I was ten years old and as a child, my mind was blown. There are many traits that can describe police officers: loyal, respectful, caring, and responsible, and all those apply to me, but the one that best describes me is responsible. To follow through with all my goals; I will need to be very responsible, and to finish what I started and take accountability for my actions. Being responsible for my actions is critical in completing my goals and without it, I don’t think I will complete any of my goals, but with it I believe I can accomplish anything. My first goal, short-term goal, is complete high school with at least a 3.6 GPA and by completing this goal, it will make it easier for colleges to accept me that will tie into my long-term goal. My long-term goal is to get accepted into a college of my choice, to graduate at that college with a major in criminal justice, and then take that major to get a job in law enforcement. Few careers offer more opportunities for self-fulfilment than a police officer. Sworn in officers play a vital role in maintaining safety and the welfare at all levels of government in the country. A police officer is more than the high speed pursuits and hostile situations that often appears on television, it’s more about interaction with citizens and being on constant overwatch to make all feel safe.
