The Raven Edgar Allen Poe “The Raven” is a poem from Edgar Allen Poe mourning the death of his lover Lenore. Poe’s writing style was gothic. Poe also experienced love, loss and madness which was reflected in his writing style throughout the whole book. The raven was symbolic in this story because it allowed Edgar to experience grief. Edgar Allen experienced love with Lenore, his cousin that he married. He was obsessed with being in love with her and it was really strange since they were related. His whole world seemed to shatter when she died and it was the only thing in the world that he wanted and sorrowfully could never have again.
