Pneumatology
Pneumatology is the study of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God, the third person of the trinity. The Spirit of God dwells within Christians, directing them to follow His will in their lives. The Spirit is like the wind. “The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes” (John 3:8 TLV). The Spirit also fills Christians with love, peace, and kindness and many more character traits. As part of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit has a specific ministry.
Part of the Spirit’s ministry includes His convicting of sin in the world, guiding people to truth, and leading them into righteousness. One of the first interactions the Holy Spirit has with humans is to draw the sinner

The Bible commands believers not to quench or grieve the Spirit. “The Spirit grieves when a believer sins, [and] He grieves until we confess and repent from our rebellion toward Him” (Nadler 91). Christians also quench the Spirit of God when they know He is impressing them to do something and refuse to follow those promptings. Christians should not ignore these promptings as the flesh is trying to quench the Spirit (Nadler 91).
On the other hand, Christians have responsibilities. Being filled with the Spirit, believers can walk in humility, contentment, purity, faith, love, as well as being a light to a world that is blind (Alderman 94). Jesus commands believers to “make disciples of all nations immersing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Ruach ha-Kodesh [Holy Spirit]” (Matthew 28:19 TLV). Christians have to live in the Spirit to achieve this. “For the flesh sets its desire against the Ruach [Spirit], but the Ruach [Spirit] sets its desire against the flesh” (Galatians 5:17 TLV).
Humans have a sinful nature and have to be filled with the Holy Spirit to be changed.
The Holy Spirit lives in people who put their trust and faith in Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God is a person of the trinity, even though you cannot feel or touch Him. The Spirit of the LORD and the believer are made one. Nothing can break the seal between God and man once he has put

In the film “The Holy Ghost People,” right away we get individual accounts of what the “Holy Spirit” is to certain individuals. One woman says the Holy Ghost guides her and keeps her going. The people are very intense about their beliefs, which comes from the religion Pentecostalism, which has a hyper focus on personal experience with God and baptism with the Holy Spirit. We see them in their church, we hear the sermon, and see the ritualistic dances and the way the prayer overcomes them, and causes seizure like motions. We see and hear the prayers for the healing of one woman’s eyesight, and another woman’s back pain. One man, seemingly the pastor, says that “if God is not doing what they ask, people aren’t believing hard enough.” Later we get an account from a woman of how she was nursed back to health as a little girl brought her nutrients, and she believes it was

Receiving and acknowledging the Holy Spirit is one of the vital parts of Christianity and in our walk with Christ. However, in the first century the Holy Spirit was not yet sent and Christianity was not formed. Despite this, there was still recognition of the spirit and the gifts and power that it has. There were many forms of the spirit that were mentioned in the Old Testament, some of which include wisdom, intelligence, and skill. Negative spirits were also a part of the first century world, which included harm, jealousy and lying. A notably example of this is when God removed his spirit and sent a harmful spirit to torment Saul.( 1Samual 16:14). From the Old Testament and other documents of authority, such as; the pseudopigrapha, Dead Sea scrolls, Josephus, and Philo, the spirit of God and the human spirt both appeared and influenced the way the Jewish people thought and acted. Within the Dead Sea scrolls, the Qumran society believed that the human spirit was the “ holy spirit”, so one’s spirit was meant to be treasured and kept undefiled” (4Q416 2II, 6-7).Slightly differing from the Qumran community, Josephus’ and Pholo’s (who had Greco-Roman influences) emphasized how
Biblical witness centers on the Spirits activity of “binding believers to Christ, incorporation them into the church as the body of Christ and equipping the church for mission.” Despite the best effort of the Church to be the hands and feet of Christ it is reassuring to know that the Spirit is still present and working in the hearts of people outside of the church’s work. Without the work of the Spirit in the hearts of believers and throughout the word, humanity would not know the love of God. The Holy Spirit gives liberates and brings new life it unites, encourages and brings hope to a world pledged by darkness.

The word Pneumatology comes from the greek word pneuma which means spirit, breath, wind, etc. So Pneumatology is the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. In the church the Holy Spirit is sometimes put on the back burner and does not get the credit that it deserves. We forget that the Holy Spirit works in unity with the Father and Son, and is equally God. The Holy Spirit is a person of God. He is not a mode of operation or an attribute, but fully God. That is why the Holy Spirit can not be anything but a person because only a person with a center of self consciousness can do those things.
Doctrine of the Holy Spirit. “The doctrine of the Holy Spirit is the Cinderella of Christian doctrines… Christian people are not in doubt as to the work that Christ did; they know that He redeemed men by his atoning death, even if they differ among themselves as to what exactly this involved (Pettegrew 15.) ” When it comes to understanding the Holy Spirit, none of us will ever fully understand or comprehend it. Pettegrew explains the dangers of superficial study when it comes to the Holy Spirit Pettegrew explains that “…even for us who live in a time when the Holy Spirit seems to be the most popular member of the trinity. Of course we must discipline ourselves to study to study this important doctrine with the utmost care (Pettegrew 16).”
The Holy Spirit gives us power to make things possible. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The power enabled the apostles to heal the sick (3:1-10, 5:15-16, 9:32-35) and raise people from the dead (9:36-43). The power also enabled them to speak the truth boldly (4:1-14, 7:1-53,
So, when Jesus Christ told his apostles that he would immerse them with the Holy Spirit to empower them as his witnesses, he indicated that the Holy Spirit would act in them as he had acted through others in the Old Testament. The Holy Spirit would also perform acts of power to validate the truth of the apostles' message, and he would give them words to speak to those who opposed them. And these illustrations of the Holy Spirit appear repeatedly in the book of
26, 27, Eph. 5:20). The Spirit of God supplies the Spirit-filled believer, with the fruits of the Spirit that are the characteristics of Christ and shall be present in the daily life of the Christian (Chafer, p. 20, 2 Cor. 3:18). The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance in the heart of the Spirit-filled believer. To point out, all Christian love is distinctly a manifestation of divine love through the human heart; John records the true identify of everyone who has been born of God knows God, by the love that is imparted in their hearts, by the Holy Spirit (Chafer, p. 21, 1 John 4:8).
As Christians, we try to think that since we are saved we are living a life like Christ but, we are missing the key points of living. In the book, “The Spirit of the Disciplines” author, Dallas Willard emphasizes the spiritual disciplines of our lives and to live like Jesus did. He mentions how the people of the world are missing the disciplines that are set for them in their lives. In Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image.” We are the people of the Lord and must do works to please our God it is a way to show our gratitude for all he has done for us. We are placed on this earth to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Based off religion, we are negatively defined as sinners and broken people while science
When one fully gives himself to God, but has not receive the Holy Spirit, he must just keep trusting God that His word is true and that He will do the work. Also one can expect temptation just like Jesus did. When the Holy Spirit comes, He does not leave quickly. When one seeks the Holy Spirit when He is already there, it grieves Him. One should be prayerfully watchful and seek to be an open channel instead of seeking for more power.3
• The Holy Spirit is the spirit of love that dwells in each and every last one of us, it is not a part of the body so if the body dies, the spirit will continue to live. Because love never dies.
