In the novel “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins, the story begins by describing the difficult life of a girl named Katniss and her family. They struggle to get enough food and just to get by day to day. Katniss finds herself in a +game called “The Hunger Games” which pits her against twenty-three other teenagers from within the twelve districts of Panem. The game is televised as entertainment for the public and normally only one player survives, however this year’s game does not follow the normal pattern. Katniss and Peeta who are the male and female “tributes” from district twelve end up as the final players and instead of fighting each other they decide to both end their lives by eating poisonous berries, but before that could happen they are both declared winners. In the plot the protagonist in the story is Katniss Everdeen a strong resourceful 16 year old girl from District 12, which is an experienced hunter that looks after her family because her father died in a coal mining accident years ago. The antagonist in the story is President Snow, he and the people of the capitol started the Hunger Games and make innocent people fight each other for entertainment. In the introduction of the story Katniss is a poor girl from District 12 that is the main provider for the family. She is selected to be a tribute volunteering in the place of her sister when she was selected. Along with Peeta the male tribute from District 12 they head to the capitol to get the games underway, but first they must train along with the other tributes. In the rising action after days of training the games get underway and Peeta and Katniss have to push each other to the brink to survive against the other tributes. It would be pure determination alone that makes tributes win and lose. Besides who doesn’t love that song to any sport that’s inspirational, can anyone say Rocky? If I could ask Katniss some questions I would ask her if she could teach me to shoot a bow so I can hit squirrels between the eyes because I think that is a valid life skill in case something does happen like a post apocalyptic wasteland. One question I would like to ask is if she is in love with Peeta or Gale? I’m sure I would stump her considering she seems very confused with the whole ordeal. So you can see “The Hunger Games” is a deadly unforgiving book about the journey of Peeta and Katniss to win the Hunger Games and return to their home. They soon realize that this fight won’t be all it’s cracked up to be.

This movie refers to a dystopia world in which there are 12 districts and a capitol who rules with an iron fist, in which the districts must provide a tribute to fight in an annual Hunger Game as a punishment for a past rebellion.
