The two passages have similar settings, even though they are not talking about the same place, they both occur outside. "A Dirge" states that the tone of this short story is exciting, because of the punctuation. Although Plastic: A Toxic Love Story sounds like a concerned passage. The theme of both passages is polluting water with plastic.
The theme in a Plastic: A Toxic Love Story and " A Dirge" are both on polluting water with plastic. You should not pollute the water with plastic because it could damage the animals in the water.
The setting in "A Dirge" is out in the nature and the setting in Plastic: A Toxic Love Story, is outside as well. Because it says " litter was washed up on Kehoe Beach" and a beach is outside
therefore the setting is outside. The tone in "A Dirge" is emotional and exciting because of the punctuation shown on the text "Wail, for the world's wrong!" And the exclamation mark shows that there is excitement. But the tone in Plastic: A Toxic Love Story is concerned. In conclusion the two passages are similar in setting and tone. Even though they are very different at the same time.
Both poems are set in the past, and both fathers are manual labourers, which the poets admired as a child. Both poems indicate intense change in their fathers lives, that affected the poet in a drastic way. Role reversal between father and son is evident, and a change of emotion is present. These are some of the re-occurring themes in both poems. Both poems in effect deal with the loss of a loved one; whether it be physically or mentally.
Both authors use figurative language to help develop sensory details. In the poem It states, “And I sunned it with my smiles, And with soft deceitful wiles.” As the author explains how the character is feeling, the reader can create a specific image in there head based on the details that is given throughout the poem. Specifically this piece of evidence shows the narrator growing more angry and having more rage. In the short story ” it states, “We are below the river's bed. The drops of moisture trickle among bones.” From this piece of text evidence the reader can sense the cold dark emotion that is trying to be formed. Also this excerpt shows the conflict that is about to become and the revenge that is about to take place. By the story and the poem using sensory details, they both share many comparisons.
Plastic bags are harmful to our environment specifically towards animals. Thousands and thousands or plastic bags are found in the ocean, Using source C we see that plastic bags ranks at number four for kinds of debris found by the Coastal Cleanup. We also see that there is a variety of plastic items also mixed into the list, such as, caps, plastic bottles, straws, and containers. This much plastic polluting our oceans causes birds causes birds to mistake it for food lying about, as we can see one of the repercussions of plastic bags in source F . In source B a University of British Columbia found that 93 percent of dead seabirds had bellies full of plastic and even one bird had 454 pieces of plastic in its stomach. Plastic isn't only just dangerous to seabird it's
Which means their obviously bad for the aquatic marine life environment & are cause many different forms of damage for them & us as one. On p.g. 23 of The New York Times upfront magazine “Birds, fish, sea turtles, & others are getting tangled in plastic bags or mistake them for food & choke”. Someone else might argue that they could the plastic bags in landfills instead of oceans. But that counter- argument is flawed because you’re just polluting by burning plastic which is bad on our part we’re not doing our part to support & taking care of the earth. Plastic in the ocean isn't just bad for plants & animals but for humans too because of the food chain some of us eat animals as a meat source such as aqua marine life like fish. If the fishermen catch fish that have been eating plastic then it's in our food supply if we eat that fish it's gonna be bad for us so many will end up getting sick from the plastic inside of the fish then what will we do our aqua marine food supply will go down the drain we couldn’t eat the fish since it's basically contaminated with plastic that we’re dumping there instead of trying to fix it & getting rid of plastic bags for good for the good of the earth. We’re causing damage towards the earth by dumping all that plastic into the ocean which damages our water supply it’ll poison us although we clean the water it depends on how big the plastic particles are, it’ll make us sick & sense it’s been lying in the oceans could bring in new pathogens &
In both stories, the literary device that most readers realize is unique is the setting the stories take place in. The protagonist in both stories give details about their daily lives and the city’s and neighborhoods they each live in. As the characters explain this, they also give insight on what their opinions are about where they live. For example, the setting in “A & P” takes place at an A & P grocery store north of Boston, five miles
... overall themes, and the use of flashbacks. Both of the boys in these two poems reminisce on a past experience that they remember with their fathers. With both poems possessing strong sentimental tones, readers are shown how much of an impact a father can have on a child’s life. Clearly the two main characters experience very different past relationships with their fathers, but in the end they both come to realize the importance of having a father figure in their lives and how their experiences have impacted their futures.
The theme of "Plastic: A Toxic Love Story" and "A Dirge" are very similar. Together they both share the theme of how the world is getting hurt by the things the humans are doing. There is evidence to support this as well, in the poem "A Dirge" the author states how the world is in pain, it's crying because of the trash and he explains how it is too sad the even sing. In " A Toxic Love Story" the author shows this theme by stating facts on how much trash is found in the water daily, also she shows how some people react to the trash and the ecosystem. The themes may be similar but so are the tones and the next paragraph will explain it.

"Humans are sound bad things to the earth." This quote emphasizes how people treat the earth wrong. In the story "A Dirge" it shows how the earth cries because the humans are wrong. In addition to that, the "from Plastics: A Toxic Love Story" states how the humans are wrong by polluting plastics. A couple creates fine art from the plastics but then realizes they polluted the beach, also.
During this term, we watched Wall.e and read the novel Trash. They both contained numerous themes, both visible and unseen. These themes help us understand the true meaning behind the story and how we can understand it better. Sometimes, the themes from Trash will relate to the ideas from Wall.e, and this will show the similarities between the two.
The US Container Recycling Institute estimates that 67 million plastic water bottles are discarded every day, which is enough to wrap around the planet 149 times each year. Therefore, plastic water bottles should be banned from public use. The usage of water bottles should be suppressed because they are incredibly dangerous, wasteful, expensive, and rarely recycled. Researchers have stated that plastic bottles containing water can contain many harmful chemicals. After close examination of the plastic, researchers have concluded that some plastics contain chemicals, such as phthalates, bisphenol A (BPA), endocrine disruptors, and carcinogens, which may leach into the water, especially after being stagnant for long periods of time.
Plastic: A Toxic Love Story" and "A Dirge" are these two stories really so different, or are they really speaking of the same thing in a different manor. Both of the stories have the same theme, but the reader must pay attention or the reader will not be able to figure that out. The setting and the tone both give information and clues as to what the theme is though.
America’s demand for plastic water bottles uses more than seven million barrels of oil annually. Many people drink bottled water because they think it is tastier, filtered but it isn’t necessarily true. I personally think that Canada should ban the usage of plastic water bottles. There are many reasons to justify this statement including the fact that it causes land and water pollution. These plastic water bottles contain a lot of toxins and it uses up a lot of fossil fuels.
On the most superficial level, the verbal fragments in The Waste Land emphasize the fragmented condition of the world the poem describes. Partly because it was written in the aftermath of World War I, at a time when Europeans’ sense of security as well as the land itself was in shambles, the poem conveys a sense of disillusionment, confusion, and even despair. The poem’s disjointed structure expresses these emotions better than the rigidity and clarity of more orthodox writing. This is evinced by the following from the section "The Burial of the Dead":
Although plastic bags appear to be fragile and light, their negative environmental effect is devastating. Plastic bags may cause large amounts of pollution in every step of their limited life cycle, from the extraction of raw materials, production, transportation, and recycling or disposal. Plastic bags can be defined as the most damaging form of environmental pollution. They can have a damaging effect on marine animals and wildlife in addition to the aesthetic effects on beaches, parks, and trees. Plastic bags are potentially one of the main causes of death to marine animals (Harbor keepers,2008). Up to one hundred thousand marine animals or more die each year from eating plastic bags which are mistaken for food. This can result in blocking the animal’s intestines and possibly lead to the animal’s death. Another possible situation is that wildlife, such as birds, can get tangled in plastic bags causing choking and immobility, which may eventually lead to death. (Senior, 2008) and (Citizen Campaign, 2010). In other situations, after plastic bags photo degrade they remain toxic and could be eaten by fish, shellfish or any other marine life and survive this allows the toxins to enter our food chain through bioaccumulation (Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, 2011).
