The spaceship has as much power as a gamma ray, large mass but so small in size. It burst with energy and as all the machines screamed with whirring of the continuation of the controls I spontaneously pressed the go button hoping it would recognize it’s righteous owner. Pain demands to be felt I whispered to the main gears of the spacecraft. After traveling in warp speed the time machine had lost most of its vigor. Soon I sat down and stood up repeating the pattern numerous times. As I stood up I flew to the back hovering and we had started to maneuver. I wondered if I should have gone outside for the spacecraft was strangely tilting to one side as it kept squeaking. There were not very many suits left the last one had been sabotaged from my partner who had an unfortunate misfortune. He wanted to venture out and explore the world on his own claiming all the fame and honor. In his rage as he threw open the door he overlooked upon his own great demise. In space there was nothing to keep from holding the particles which hold you together. His fate had turned him into a monstrous creature which had blood erupting from every inch of his skin.
I was going alone. I caroused through all of the planets and solar system finding the ones that interested me most scanned. There I found a solar system. There was a large sun with a few planets circling it. Most of them revolutionizing with the shape of an ellipse though there was one which seemed to have more of one than all the others. That looked interesting. Resisting the urge I swept through the planets and the belts finding one massive star. The next was a small, at least smaller than the next two. A terrestrial planet is a dense planet found in the inner Solar System. The diameter of Earth is 7,926 miles. The circumference measured around the middle is 24,901 miles. There are currently almost 7 billion people living on the Earth. About 30% of the Earth's surface is covered with land, while about 70% is covered by oceans which I could tell from the scanning signals.
The planet is an oasis of life in an otherwise desolate universe that, we would allow them to think in further advances of life which the scanning signal had exclaimed in eternal excitement. The Earth's temperature, weather, atmosphere and many other factors are just right to keep them alive extraordinarily so it wasn't just us.
The Earth has one moon. It looked as if it was bombarded with meteoroids.
Finding life in our solar system could potentially answer the questions humanity has been asking for thousands of years. Sarah Seager, a professor at MIT, mentioned some of these thought provoking questions, “why are we here?”. Why does our universe exist? How did Earth form and evolve? How and why did life originate and populate our planet?”
There is a cultural assumption that there are many alien civilizations in the universe. However, what do we really know about extraterrestrial life? With recent findings of water on Mars and the discovery of Trappist-1, there could be hope for extraterrestrial life out in the universe. Even though the water on Mars is frozen under the polar ice caps and Trappist-1 could be far from finding any alien life, there are still many articles supporting the research and looking forward to finding additional news. In the article “Could the TRAPPSIT-1 worlds harbor alien life?’ written by Liz Fuller-Wright, she reports the announcement of astronomers that they found a miniature solar system of seven Earth-sized planets. Furthermore, the argument is effective towards bright individuals because it makes one think about what it will be if there was actually life outside of Earth.
The UFO crash site in Roswell New Mexico in 1947 was the start of people’s interest in extraterrestrials, the discovery of military secrets and experiments kept from society, and the start, in search of answering are we alone in this universe.
This planet is about half the size of Earth, and the second smallest planet in our Solar system. Mars is usually known as the “Red Planet” because of its red color, which is due to the concentration of iron oxide and dust and rock covering its surface, yet it’s the main component is Carbon Dioxide. Mars has a very thin atmosphere, which leads to a wide range in temperatures because it cannot trap solar heat. Hence, Mars’ temperature is a lot colder than that of Earth’s, at about minus 80° Fahrenheit. Mars is home to the highest mountains and volcanoes in the Solar System, such as Olympus Mons (biggest volcano) and Valles Marineris (one of the largest canyons). Mars experiences seasons just like Earth, except that they are twice as long as that of Earth’s. The explanation for these giant mountains is Mars weak surface gravity. Mars has two known moons, Phobos, and Deimos. Mars is currently a very important target for NASA and other space exploration because it is the planet most prone to life, after Earth.
In conclusion, this experiment helped me understand the many different items that are relevant to identifying a star. I found it interesting that the stars are all different even in the slightest ways. The most luminous stars are in the upper right section of the HR Diagram. These stars are the most developed stars and are where the Supergiants are mostly populated. These super stars are at the end of there life and are the most evolved. I believe that we can learn the most from these stars. Then that knowledge can then be applied to monitor the younger stars. It is without a doubt that the most fascinating thing about space is the possibility of life elsewhere beside Earth. It is estimated that the Milky Way Galaxy itself contains about 300 billion stars. Each star contains planets and some planets might even have moons. With these findings, the question is no longer whether life exists elsewhere. The probability that Earth is the only place where life exists in the universe is far too slim. NASA has identified many planets that have similar conditions to Earth but most of these planets are hundreds of light years away so traveling there to find out if there’s any living organism is not easy. Luckily, scientific evidences have pointed out that one of the moons of Jupiter, Europa, could be one of the places where life can exist. If the theories proposed by astronomers about Europa are true, life on Europa might not even be entirely different than life near the bottom of Earth’s oceans.
Overall we can get a pretty good insight on how or Solar System was formed, yes there are still certain aspects of it that are hard to make sense of, as well as debates over which theory is correct, such as Core Accretion vs. Disk Instability, but overall I feel it is pretty amazing what we have learned about the nature of system and look forward to future discoveries.
Since the 18th century speculation of unearthly life has been brought up by many influential people. One of the founding fathers of the United States, Benjamin Franklin, once stated "I believe that Man is not the most perfect Being but One; rather that as there are many degrees of Beings his Inferiors, so there are many degrees of Beings superior to him”. This quote justifies the fact that even the most prominent people believed in cosmic beings. Further in time, In July 1947, an unidentified flying object crash landed in a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. What military officials discovered was nothing more than the debris of a weather balloon that was being tested. However, people did not seem to fathom the truth and began to investigate what the military did not want the public to know. Bodies of unknown humanoid beings were seized by the military and taken into a secret base for further analysis. Various reasons as to why celestial beings could lurk the universe are being brought upon by today’s modern science committee possibly unlocking an insight onto future life. The first reason as to why extraterrestrial life could perhaps exist is that there is a vast amount of galaxies, stars, planets, and solar systems that humans have not yet discovered. To think that humans, the only civilization on planet earth, are the only living organisms in space would be quite absurd. Furthermore, a second reason as to why extraterrestrials could subsist is that life thrives in the most extreme conditions. This means that whether organisms are in the depths of the ocean, in the midst of the ozone layer, or in the scorching hot temperatures of volcanos; life always finds a way to adapt. General Description: Earth may be the most unique of all planets because of the life forms we know exist here and the way they utilize the Suns energy. The Earth is composed of a great amount of water, mostly in the form of oceans, which make up most of its surface. It also contains various gases, of which make it possible for us humans to exist and is a system that exists between plants and animals here.
This project for Earth Science proved to be quite engaging. At first, I thought that the project was going to be long and arduous, however, being able to choose my topic for the project actually helped in galvanizing interest in it. Through this project, I learned a whole lot about the Jovian planets that fascinated me when I was a child. From gargantuan Jupiter, ringed Saturn, peculiar Uranus, and stormy Neptune, I learned many facts that I couldn’t discover outside of Earth Science. I learned many facts like how the Jovian planets got their colors, and whether or not Gas Giants are solely made of gas. I enjoy the fact that we are able to choose what we want to research about, choosing what interests us the most. Thanks to this project, I feel that I know just a bit more about the vast amount of knowledge of our Universe.
Human fascination with the stars is as ancient as Babylonians and has been suggested to be older than Stonehenge. From “be fruitful and multiply” to “live long and prosper,” the instinct to protect and propagate the species has manifested in religion, art, and the imaginations of countless individuals. As human understanding of space treks out of the fantastical and into the scientific, the realities of traveling through and living in space are becoming clearer. Exploring, investigating, and living in space pose an expansive series of problems. However, the solutions to the problems faced by mankind's desire to reach beyond the horizon, through the night sky, and into the stars are solutions that will help in all areas of life on Earth.
Our solar system has eight planets, their moons and satellites, and they are all orbiting the Sun. The eight planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Pluto used to be the ninth planet but IAU changed the definition of planet and Pluto did not meet the standards so it is now a Dwarf planet.
One of the most common unanswered questions scientists find themselves asking is "Is there life on other planets?"
