these skills and improve my ability to positively impact my future students. Significant values of the President’s Leadership Academy include passionate servant leadership, critical thinking, and integrity.
First of all, while a student at BGSU, I will demonstrate these values by dedicating a significant amount of my time to participating in community service. Personally, I believe that the first step in bettering oneself is bettering one’s environment, therefore it is imperative that I take care of my surroundings. Throughout high school, I have been involved in multiple extracurriculars that involve community service, such as Student Council and the National Honor Society. Through these programs, we clean up trash around the school, donate cans of food to the needy, and promote safety and respect among the students and staff of Lakewood High School. Knowing that the well-being of my school and peers depends on our dedication to the community is an indescribable feeling that I would ultimately love to carry to college with me through my servant leadership in the
PLA. In addition, I will demonstrate PLA values while a student at BGSU by embracing critical thinking. As a high school student, I have been enrolled in multiple strenuous classes, such as AP U.S. History, A.P Government, CCP English 112, and CCP English 113. While engaged in these classes, I managed to average an A in all of them, leaving me with a GPA of 4.067 and a class ranking of 8. Thus, my ability to schedule rigorous classes and perform successfully in them proves that I'm capable of meeting any challenge with critical thinking. As I am enrolled in BG’s Honors College, I expect to face a handful of Honors classes that will require extreme dedication and meticulous preparation in order to succeed. Nonetheless, I am confident that by demonstrating PLA values, I can overcome any academic obstacle through critical thinking. Furthermore, I will exhibit PLA values at BGSU by leading with integrity. Holding fervent moral values is significant in the development of any young adult, thus I am eager to join the PLA in pursuance of leading with integrity in college and my future career. As a Secondary Education major, it is essential that I discover how to interact with others as a moral leader. Being an educator isn’t just about teaching students how to pass tests, it’s additionally about setting quality examples and serving as a virtuous mentor for young pupils in need of guidance. Therefore, by staying on task, fulfilling my responsibilities, and doing good deeds on and off campus, I will honor the PLA value of integrity, ultimately setting me up for success as a future teacher.
...ieve life goals. The community should encourage continued community service from college students that receive scholarships and or some type of financial aid to volunteer, with the existing programs. This could increase the amount of people available to these after school and summer programs, while saving the city some money. This could prove to be a major step in continuing to improve the city and make it a desired place to live and prosper.
Growing up, my parents and other influential figures around me modelled the importance of community service through their continual volunteer work and dedication to improving the world around them. Whether it be participation in a well-attended project or persistent contribution to a helpful organization, those aforementioned individuals were formative in guiding me towards a path filled with opportunities for having an impact on my community.
Next year, as I embark my first year at university, I hope to fully integrate myself into the community by getting involved in the Students' Union, joining the cheer team, volunteering where I can and making many new friends along the way. At university, I hope to maintain a high grade point average, granted that my education is extremely important to me and that I am extremely ambitious about achieving my goals. Therefore, I will commit lots of my time to my studies in hopes of being a successful student. Nevertheless, I am still looking forward to being a part of the community by devoting my extra time to helping those around me. In classes, I intend on being an active learner, a respectful student, and a helpful classmate; someone who is always willing to lend a hand to others. Through engaging in my community, I hope to bring joy to others around me by spending my time supporting local events, volunteering for fundraisers, and helping plan and organize campus activities.
In this effort, I serve the community by making an effort to keep the people in it healthier. Lastly, I show service to my school through the help I provided while in the National Junior Honor Society. As a member of NJHS I helped our middle school begin a recycling program; I helped get the recycling boxes and bins ready, gather paper from around the school, and sort the paper after school. Through this I show a dedication to my school and community, because not only does recycling help the school reduce waste but it also allows the environment resources to last longer. For these reasons, I am an excellent, determined, helpful member, who is more than willing to provide service to my school and community.
There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
While growing up I had the privilege of learning about farming and ranching while helping my dad and grandfather run the family ranch. I don’t remember considering this as a privilege at the time, but I find humor in how time changes our way of thinking.
Golf is a sport of confidence, honesty, and patience. It has taught me to practice these traits in my everyday life. I have more confidence in myself and I know that I will succeed. I am honest even when the truth hurts. I am patient with those around me no matter how annoyed I may be. My name is Evin Edens, and golf is my passion.
Kim, in the United States, grades are not the only factor in evaluating school applicants and job candidates. From Rhodes Scholar selections to college applications, excellence in other areas such as leadership, volunteer activities, sports and arts is equally important (p82-90). In American schools, students are encouraged to do volunteer work. So much so that many schools have guidelines for how much time students are expected to spend serving in the community. Children learn the value of giving from an early age. Volunteer activities is one way Americans feel a part of things and share the goal of serving and contributing to build their communities. From neighborhood watch programs to environmental issues, Americans do not wait for the government to initiate action: they take action to bring about the changes they desire. Therefore, Americans view volunteer work as a way to teach children and young adults values such as cooperation and teamwork, dedication and work ethics, equality and social justice, leadership, generosity and compassion for

Whoosh!A bed whizzed by, surrounded by about 6 medical personnel. “What’s going on?” I thought immediately with apprehension. I knew whatever was happening it was not ideal. Ensuring I was not in the way, I stood on my toes to see what demanded so much attention. To my astonishment, I saw a coin sized hot-pink little girl. She could not have been bigger than two quarters lying side by side. She was struggling! Even with all the procedures the doctors were executing to save her life, she was performing the most work.
Taking time to volunteer at the many nonprofit organizations, homeless shelters, advocacy centers, philanthropic fundraisers, local schools and child care facilities in the inner city is not always at the forefront of young people’s minds while navigating through their college experiences. But, with a little push from student organizations, local nonprofits and passionate individuals, volunteerism and community change can start to take a front seat and become not just an opportunity, but also a priority in the lives of young people.
I grew up in a culture of science. My roots lay in rural Oregon with a biologist and geologist for parents and a curiosity for the natural world at my core. However, through college and my professional career, I have learned the importance of melding this ecological understanding of conservation with another vital aspect of preserving nature: the historical, economic and cultural knowledge of a land and its people.
My long-term career goal is to establish my own data analytics company that specializes in applying advanced analytics tools to solving complex real-world problems. Having worked as a financial analytics analyst for more than 6 months at Enova Financial, a Chicago-based consumer online financing firm, my passion towards data analytics grew stronger. Ranging from basic data query and reporting to predictive modeling and optimization, data analytics has played an important role in today’s world. Since personal loan is only a niche within the financial industry, I would like to broaden my horizon of data analytics to meet my long-term goal. Entering a full-time master program in statistics at Stanford University, where I can learn the principles and applications of advanced statistical methods in data analytics, such as machine learning, data structure and computational algorithm, therefore becomes the best option for me.
The idea of communication and networking has been always my interest, starting from 1999, when I was just 11 years old and I had a very ordinary computer. I had always wanted to connect my computer to other devices or other computers. But I could not because of lack of knowledge as well as information at that time. Moreover, lack of communication devices was another reason. My dream came true when I was accepted at College of science in Computer Department. Immediately after graduating from the college, my dream has been fulfilled to work on networking field at Korek Telecom Company.
For the duration of my high school career, I have always made maintaining my GPA and achieving good grades a top priority. This can be seen in the fact that I am in the top twenty-five percent quartile of my graduating class, and my SAT scores. At the same time, I tried to focus my time beyond just education, but in community involvement. I have participated in numerous clubs and activities during high school; some I have not yet mentioned are powder-puff football, volunteering and fundraising for the class of 2017, and doing different types of community service throughout the years.
