On the opening week of Pitch Perfect 2, the film produced more money than every other movie released around the same time (Contrera). With that being said, Pitch Perfect 2 had word out of being an incredible movie. Pitch Perfect and the sequel are musical comedies that follow the a cappella group, the Barden Bellas. The first movie, released in 2012, centers on the group undertaking the challenge of competing against other talented and experienced teams across the nation. Most movies that are a sequel tend to not be as good as the original film, but Pitch Perfect 2 happens to be even better than the leading Pitch Perfect for several reasons. The second movie offers more a cappella singing to look forward to, an impressive amount of well-known celebrities starring who never allow for a dull moment, and main characters who prove to be just as entertaining to watch as in the first movie. With 35 phenomenal songs heard in Pitch Perfect 2, “Flashlight” originally sang by Jessie J, was a jaw-opener when performed by the Barden Bellas. This song was clearly the song snatcher for the sequel. The integral feeling brought by the song shows how much friendships mean to the …show more content…
Bella Bardens’ a cappella group. Also, having the outburst of the “Cups” song in Pitch Perfect, there is no better way than to have the song sang again in the second Pitch. “‘Cups’ was the breakout hit from Pitch Perfect” (Pehanick) and now the song made its comeback. The song was sang at a campfire to say goodbye to each other. It was sung in a different melody which made it even more captivating to listen to. The “gorgeously sung version” (Pehanick) was indeed an upgrade from the originally sung version in the first movie. The final a capella championships are always the most rousing time in both of the Pitch Perfect’s. Not only did they open up with a snap and clapping beat of the cups song, they also sang “Run the World” and “Where them girls at”. “We Belong” was also sung at the end by Fat Amy. This brought some humor into the performance because it was the same song she sang to get the love of her life. On the other hand, the final showdown was said to be a disappointment. The Bellas were way too cliche and even though they won, Das Music Machine was the rightful winner (Wloszczyna). The statement made by the movie critic was erroneous on a towering level. The Barden Bellas were unique by having all the alumni from the a capella group be a part of the pizazz, while Das Sound Machine made the music seem way too techno and was far too ordinary to earn the gold. In the first Pitch Perfect, the humor included throughout was hysterical and made it impossible not to laugh. But in Pitch Perfect 2 they stepped it up a level by having a large amount of famous people take part in the sequel. Some may say the second “Pitch” was not as organized as the first movie. The unplanned sing-offs in both of the films were the musical standout points but the humor was forced in the second Pitch by having David Cross and some of the Green Bay Packers in the scene (Wloszczyna). David Cross, being a crazy a capella fan, was one of the main reasons why this scene was such a hit. Also, having some of the muscular Green Bay Packers be an a cappella group was simply hilarious. Listening to Packers sing the “Thong Song,” “Baby Got Back,” and “Bootylicious” and act all girly made the whole cinema laugh. There is no arguing that including these famous stars in the scene made it an unforgettable part of the movie. Not only were the famous people in the sing-off scene, Barack and Michelle Obama were in the first clip. When Fat Amy had a malfunction with her outfit, she flashed the President and first lady. The facial expression received by them were priceless and should not be missed. They called this embarrassing but hilarious moment a new word called the “Muffgate.” Even movie critics who think the first Pitch was better believe “it is almost worth it to watch just for introducing the term “Muffgate” into the lexicon (Wloszczyna).” The best part about the sequel is that the main characters maintain the same look and funny behavior as in the original film.
One of the most loved actresses in the movie, Fat Amy, doubled her humour in Pitch Perfect 2 and a big reason was her romance with Bumper. With both of these individuals already being funny, them together made a couple that can make anyone giggle. In the second movie, “Fat Amy is a serial scene-stealer” (Pehanick). With Fat Amy being so loved in the first movie, having her as an even bigger part in the sequel made for a great turn out. Also, having Chloe still be in the show was amazing. Chloe is in her seventh year of college because she does not want to leave the Bella Bardens. She brought humor to the group knowing she was purposely failing college to stay in an a cappella
group. Although original films tend to receive a higher rating, the sequel was in fact more entertaining than Pitch Perfect. The gripping humor and eventful plot of the first film did not keep it from being outdone by the high amount of guest star appearances and a cappella singing in the second. As the main characters remained in the sequel it did not stray from the original story, and was able to provide a believable extension to the original movie and also a more captivating storyline.

The play I went to see was The Music Man performed by the Mesa Encore Theatre at the Mesa Community College. I saw this performance on November 20th. The main performers in this play were Zac Bushman as Harold Hill and Lauren Koeritzer as Marian Paroo. Alongside them, a mix of both adults and children as young as 8 acted in this production. The cast and crew used appropriate clothing to match the time and place. Lights were utilized scarcely, with not much more than spotlights or front and back lights. The set was extravagant, cute, and fitting for the setting and time. Overall, this musical was vibrantly performed and left me with positive impressions regarding presentation and production.
Gangs of New York mostly took place in the streets of Five Points and Paradise Square. Five Points was named for the points created by the intersections of Park, Worth and Baxter Streets. By the mid-1800s, Five Points was known as New York City’s most notorious slum neighborhood. It was home to an infamous, overcrowded tenement., which throughout the movie is portrayed as a very dangerous place. This is said to be true, Five Points is alleged to have sustained the highest murder rate of any slum in the world. According to an old New York urban legend, “the Old Brewery, an overcrowded tenement on Cross Street housing 1,000 poor, is said to have had a murder a night for 15 years, until its demolition.” Five Points was also portrayed as a very

The popular dancing movie, Footloose, was directed by Herbert Ross in 1984. Craig Brewer, produced a remake of Footloose in 2011. Both of the original Footloose and the remake, have multiple differences that split them apart. Although they follow the same theme, the sequence of events that took place happened in different orders and well as some characters were not present in the remake as they were in the original. The acting, dancing, and setting were varied slightly but it followed the same trend as the original. Directors Herbert Ross and Craig Brewer, directed the same film, while Craig Brewer made the film more modern, while keeping the film following the same trend.
History is full of great figures whose influence shaped the world we live in today. However, such great figures are kept on books, and people know little or nothing about them. Usually, people do not like to read history books because they provide bleak information. Although Alexander Hamilton is one of the most influential founding fathers of the United States of America, having an insight about him through history books can be a hard process. Therefore, The Hamilton Mixtape by Lin-Manual Miranda offers an interesting and concise alternative to history books. It gives a holistic view on Alexander Hamilton and the founding fathers of the United States in terms of both personal and political lives. The work consists of forty six songs, each
The movie glory is a movie based on real life events that took place during the Civil War. Although a lot of the scenes are inspired on real life events many details are replaced to make the movie more dramatic. The movie glory is based upon the 54th regiment which was the first unit consisting of African American soldiers. This was a very controversial and was an event that the public kept a close eye on.
With our cast of characters between the two films we have a stoner (Spicoli), Jocks (Charles Jefferson, Oz and Stifler), Shy (Rat, Finch and Jim) and sexually experienced (Linda, Stacy, Stifler, Nadia, Vicky, Kevin and Jessica). By looking at the characters in both films we see the overlap of the types of students that are typical in high school. It does not matter if it is a high school in California or
Quite possibly one of the most iconic openings in cinematic history is “A Long time ago in a galaxy far far away.” Of course, I am referring to Star Wars. It is such a fascinating and great movie going experience. There have been a total of seven Star Wars films, but in this essay I am going to be focusing on Star Wars: Episode 3- Revenge of the Sith. This film was written and directed by George Lucas and of the science fiction genre. Revenge of the Sith was released in theaters on May 19, 2005.
In 2009, a comparably young well-known movie director’s, Joe Wright’s, third film, Soloist, was released. This movie is based on Steven Lopez’s true story about his friendship whom one well-known LA Times columnist with whom a musical-talented homeless. The magnificent point of this movie is to watch how the director expresses the whole LA cultures and ideas in a two hours long movie.
