There are many ways to interpret “The Wall” by Pink Floyd. I have never listened to this artist before and these songs are not my type of music. However, while listening to the different songs listed, the one that stood out to me the most was Outside the Wall. As a student at NIU, I truly do feel that NIU has robbed me as an individual by making me brick in the wall, but I would rather be Outside the Wall. There are countless guidelines and requirements that are strongly holding me back from breaking the wall and being outside of the wall.
NIU was not the college I intended to go to, but I did because the education program was good. I felt like the education system was not what I had expected. Being in an Asian school for my whole life and then transitioning to an American school in Illinois was a drastic change. When I first came to NIU, I felt like I didn’t fit in until I found the Asian community. The Asian population was quite big and consisted of the Taiwanese Student Association, Korean Student Association, Hong Kong Student Association, Thai Student Association, Philippines Students Association, Viet Student Association and Chinese Student Association. However, as time went by, each of the student associations and the population of Asians were disappearing. I do not know if NIUs admissions office had anything to do with accepting Asian students, but it is very sad to see the Asian population decreasing and to the point where it may be non-existent. I would like to see the population of Asians to increase in the years to come so that the Asian community will be back to when I first came to NIU.

...st like in the song, “The Trial” where the band plays and people chant, “tear down the wall” then we hear the sound of a wall actually getting wrecked in the background. Since I have finally enrolled in my classes for next semester and will be ready and finally graduating, I wish to no longer have any surprises from NIU. I pray that everything will go smoothly and that nothing will suppress my individuality and creativity anymore. Let me finish with a big bang and learn useful things that I will need when I graduate so I can bring to my work field to be the best that I can be. I’ve seen numerous people drop out of NIU because they did not like what NIU’s program has done to them. But I know I will succeed to overcome what NIU has become and I will break down the wall. The day I find hope will be the day of my graduation where I will finally be “Outside the Wall”.
The persona in the poem reacts to the power the wall has and realizes that he must face his past and everything related to it, especially Vietnam.
As I reflect on my college life, I wonder about the choices I have made that have led me to where I am today and that will guide me into shaping who I long to become. The things I have had to sacrifice, the support and experiences I have had with family, friends, strangers and work colleagues. I don’t know what I will be doing three months or thirty years from now but I do know that I want to have new experiences. When I graduated from high school, I knew I didn’t want to be that person that moved back to the same town and stayed there for the rest of my life. I even contemplate leaving the United States in my adult life. Who really knows, maybe those cards are still in the deck. For now, I know my immediate goals include focusing on completing my college education the best I can, and moving away from my comfort zone, broadening my horizons and taken risks.

I hope to leave NC State as a young adult who is ready and prepared to enter society with a determined mindset and hard work ethic. I believe that I will be perfectly capable of achieving my goals and and aspirations as an NC graduate, and will graduate with the experience to take on challenges that may await me in a future career. Although I am still unsure of my desired field of study, I am confident that I will be able to discover a career path I will enjoy through the Exploratory Studies college. There is nothing more I can ask for because I feel very blessed for all my wonderful experiences at APU. I am beyond excited for what lies ahead of me for the next four years. Whatever my path is, I will leave my destiny up to God. I will try my best to work hard and use the skills I developed in my classes to thrive in college. So after graduation I decided to explore my options at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh. Wow, was this a mistake? Not only was the college to big for my own well being, but the big university provided too many distractions. This is why I feel I have finally taken the right and first step. in securing my future.
Over all in Germany, they had so many huge changes for them; it had become one new and better country overtime that now is united. There is a reflection on how Germany came through in the end with tearing down the Berlin Wall and how the Cold War ended everywhere over the world with that symbol gone. A country had been through the worst, a truly pitiful time in history for Germany. Though there is a happy ending after the wall got torn down. They could live their old lives how they have longed to, for twenty years, they had to wait. Pink Floyd and the Beatles had more in common then they’re often credited. Both bands members were raised in the United Kingdom. The original framework for “The Beatles” was conspired by the best friends, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Likewise, “Pink Floyd” was created by best friends Nick Mason and Roger Waters. By the same token, both bands were founded while the members received their education. World War II was a pin point in each of the band members lives, if not directly affecting them, then they were affected through their parents. Ironically, the two bands were also branded for the sixties, largely the Beatles who were believed to be an instrument, attempted to be used for ending the Vietnam War. As musicians often feel pressured to change in New Eras, or rise to the occasion, the Beatles and Pink Floyd were no exception. The Beatles changed their music from a pop, heartthrob sound to a more psychedelic sound to express the Counterculture. Accordingly, Pink Floyd altered their sound from a Blues like sound, to a Mystique, psychedelic tune. With the music, comes the managing, The Beatles were rejected by Decca, a recording company, similarly, as Pink Floyd was cut loose from their recording producer, Jenner, before the bands settled with different companies. Of course, the bands succeeded beyond the rejection, at some point the groups both enthused their movies: Yellow Submarine and The Wall. That being said, both bands have a reputation to have experimented with the Hippie drug of the sixties; lysergic acid diethylamide, otherwise known as LSD. Coming out of my senior high school was one of the most difficult tasks I 've been given up to this point in my life. I was overwhelmed, excited, sad, busy, and uncertain of the near impending future. The past 13 years of my life I had been studying, practicing, playing, and working my way towards a brighter future. I could see the future in front of me, it was as if I could reach out and touch it. It was almost like getting a shot at the doctors, I knew it was what was best for me but I was terrified anyway. But I pushed aside my fears and on August 8, 2015, I set foot on a college campus, my home for the next four years. I knew why I was there though; I came to college in order to channel the love I have for my country into the motivation necessary to take the next step up the ladder towards a constitutional law degree, a degree I’ll use to protect this country and the people who reside in it. But to truly understand why I came to college, I have to start at the beginning.

The poem itself is a technique Robert Frost uses to convey his ideas. Behind the literal representation of building walls, there is a deeper metaphoric meaning, which reflects people's attitudes towards others. It reflects the social barriers people build, to provide a sense of personal security and comfort, in the belief that barriers are a source of protection which will make people less vulnerable to their fears. Robert Frost's ideas are communicated strongly through the perspective of the narrator in the poem, the 'I' voice, who questions the need for barriers. The use of conversation and the thoughts of the narrator reflect the poet's own thoughts. In line thirty to line thirty-five, the narrator questions the purpose of a wall. He has an open disposition and does not understand the need to 'wall in' or 'wall out' anything or anyone.
When I first enrolled here at State University, I never thought I would ever be in the position to graduate. Finishing college was a huge goal growing up but it was also my biggest fear. But after three and a half years of dedication I plan to get my degree in the fall. Getting this far in college was not easy, it took encouragement from family, dedication, and assistance from others to reach this position.
