Growing up I was always exploring my interest. I was mainly interested in sports so I played every sport I possibly could, baseball, basketball, soccer, and football. I also loved planes when I was younger. I looked into possible career choices and found out that I would be interested in being a professional athlete or a fighter pilot. I did my research and found out that you have to have perfect vision to be a fighter pilot in the military so I crossed that off of my list. I needed a career that would put me around sports. I found out that I could train people in their sport and that sounded like a really exciting long term career that I could pursue. In the beginning of high school, i applied and got into the explorations program. Towards
my up coming junior year I was looking for a way to get better in football and started searching for someone to train with. It just so happened that the place I found was apex performance training was one of the places I looked at to start training me and I needed an internship for the program. I thought it would be a good idea not to spend the money getting the training and just internship with them to learn and use the training on my own. I want to go to college for kinesiology which will help me learn how the body moves. This will help me create training techniques that I can use on potential customers of my athletic facility that I plan on opening up after college.
Everyone at one point has to make a decision on what they want to be when they grow up. For me, that decision came rather unexpectedly and was a result of a new found interest due to self-discovery. It all began when I was around the age of 8 and I watched a documentary on aircraft. It documented all about planes, how they work and the science behind them. I was immediately captivated and gaining all that information as a young child really hit the spot in terms of a new found passion and interest that I could see myself later using. This passion stuck with me ever since as I have spent tons of spare time studying different types of aircraft and collecting model planes. It ultimately helped me with my answer to the question of what I wanted to be when I grew up as being an aeronautical engineer. It is not a career most would pursue, but it shows how self-discovery impacted me at a very young age and the impact is so log lasting that it has influenced most of the decision I make now in terms of courses I take at school and the extracurricular activities I am a part of. Without self-discovery, I was able to gain an understanding of where my interests lay, the abilities I have to acquire complex information and the feelings I had towards my new found interest and
Focusing on pursuing a career you like is important because statistics show fifty-two percent of Americans are unhappy going to work every day because they chose a career they didn’t have an interest in. My ideal job is in the medical field because I’ve always had a passion in helping people. I want to specialize in nurse anesthesia because of the important role they have in society. Nurse anesthesia interests me because of the tasks they do, the advanced education path they must take, and the history behind the profession.
The career I have chosen for my future is to become a registered dental hygienist. It wasn’t until I actually learned what dental hygienists do that influenced my interest from medical to dentistry. The first honest reason I was gravitated to dental hygiene was because of the salary. I didn’t really know what Dental Hygienist actually did until I did some research.
I wanted to be the reason that kids smiled and be the person that kids looked up to. So, I became a preschool teacher. I quickly learned that it was not the field for me to be in. So, I searched for a new career field. I knew I wanted to work with kids. I thought about a social worker and then I realized I would lose my job quicker than I got it. So, I considered being a juvenile corrections officer. When I looked at all the different things I could do with in that field I instantly fell in love with it. People ask me all the time of why would I rather work with the kids behind bars rather than work with the kids outside who are good
Ultimately, this class helped me gauge and find a suitable career path, which will forever shape my future. Self-Exploration Over the course of this semester, I have learned a tremendous amount of information about myself from the self-exploration series. The results of my Personal Globe Inventory (PGI) presented me with a couple of different career paths to explore. The first type of career that brought to my attention was an enterprising career.
Many of my friends pick their careers based on money and trade skills that they have. I am proficient in art and design, but didn’t feel like that was what I wanted to do for my career. Your career shapes a huge portion of your life. It is what you do every day, for a large portion of your life. It is what I have prepared for the past 12 or so years of my life. It is way more than just money or a skill. I wanted to do something unique, something interesting, something that would inspire me to be a better human, something that would make me feel, something that is challenging, something that helped others, and above all, something that was rewarding and made me feel fulfilled.
The career field I chose is to be a firefighter. The reason why I want to be a firefighter is because they help people and prevent fires from spreading. I’ve always wanted to help people everywhere, because I don’t like it whenever if there is an accident and some people died and lost their loved ones, people talking crap about them and just talking and pointing the cameras in their face watching them cry. I want to help people and make a difference and help protect people’s life, and be someone people recognize when I walk by them.
Exploration Passages is a program that many people have probably never heard of or even more, they never knew that this program exist. So what made me choose the Exploration Program? Honestly, my first choice was to take Exploration Prerequisites to complete my chemistry and physic courses that I have not taken during my high school year since I needed those courses to get into nursing or dentistry. I got a rejection letter and I was really sad about it. In that moment, I was not certain of what program I want to take anymore because, like I mention earlier, the programs I wanted to get into requires chemistry and physic. I realize that I was tired of Marie-Anne ( the adult school I attended to redo my French course ) and that I really wanted to attend college so I decided to explore other program to apply to. I came across Exploration Passages! While reading the description, it got my attention that this program will help me discover other program that would suit me and I really needed that since I have to rethink of a program to take. Other than that, as a college freshman, I had no clue how to be in college and how it is
From a time, longer than I could remember, I had always known that I wanted to have a career in the medical field. My first choice was in Obstetrics, then after a few years, it changed to Dentistry. It was not until around the age of 11 that I discovered the career that I wanted to pursue after college, which was Orthopedic Surgery. Now to this day, this has been the first career choice that I still follow, research, and can proudly say I still hope to obtain.

It has taken a very long time for me to decide on the path that I wanted to take for my career. I have almost always known that I wanted to be an engineer. I was always more interested in applying my knowledge to solve problems rather than just research and understand the world. However, I had little to no inkling as to which field of engineering I wanted to go in to. I had always been a dabbler, involving myself in a large variety of activities with the interest of learning about how stuff works. I started out learning how to use the tools in the shed outback, making pinewood derby cars and model rockets. I would help my dad with home improvement and repair projects around the house. As time went on, my ability learns and apply
