January of last year, I underwent an evaluation to see if physical therapy would benefit me due severe pain in both shoulders. I found out that my upper and mid back muscles (rhomboids, traps, and rear deltoids) had lengthened and my front deltoids and pectorals had shortened to the point that my shoulders where severely rounded which was creating the pain. I was recommended by both my chiropractor and physician to undergo physical therapy for 3 months at three times a week. I started my treatment at the beginning of February. Throughout the duration of the treatment, I had manipulations performed of on to free and stretch out my chest. I was also given strategies and guidelines to strengthen my back muscles and stretch out my chest during my free time. As a result, I started to workout. I was only able to work out my back muscles during this time and not much else as we did not want to prolong the treatment. After the three-month duration, my posture had significantly improved and my shoulders no longer hurt. …show more content…
Once my semester was over and I completed physical therapy, I did not want to stop working out because it had become an addiction.
Once I was back in home in Tampa for the summer, I joined a gym to not only prevent the shoulder rounding from occurring again, but to improve my health. In the first picture, I weighed an unhealthy 158 pounds and my diet was poor. Once I started bodybuilding, I realized just how unhealthy and weak my body actually was. When I first started, I was completely clueless on what I was doing when I was working out so I discovered a program online and followed it. Once summer had concluded, I was not happy with my results because I gained an astonishing 4 pounds putting me at 162 (Second picture). I was definitely healthier, but I was not where I wanted to be as my end goal was to gain weight and build my muscles. My diet was healthier, but I was not eating
enough. After the fall semester had begun, I joined the YMCA in Tifton. I pushed myself to train harder and to eat food like an animal. I started to see results come for all the hard work I was putting in. Today a year later, I weighed myself and found out that I am at 181 pounds and I couldn’t be happier. I feel much more secure with who I am and I am just an overall happier person. The last few pictures are showing the results of what hard work and perseverance can accomplish. If your New Year’s Revolution was to start working out to lose or gain weight like I did, and are having a hard time keeping motivated, just remember that everyone starts somewhere. I hope that everyone who has read this has found an inspiration and motivation to continue to strive for their goals and never give up.

Tests after tests including MRI’s, X-rays, and experimental procedures were performed to show I had five ruptured disks in the lower lumbar section of my back. Tedious Examination done by a group of doctors concluded I had a crippling disease of the spinal column called spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal that causes compression of the spinal cord. (Lohr,1) If this disease was ignored any longer, it would lead to many other problems affecting other areas of my back to help support this weakness. It was an extremely rare case for an athlete my age.
I have dreamed of becoming a physical therapist since I was a child. A few of my family friends are physical therapists and it was just something that really interested me. Although some would think that a Physical Therapists career is smooth sailing, healthcare professionals challenge a series of regulatory and ethical issues in the modern varying practice settings. I grew up wanting to help people in some type of way, but after researching more about physical therapy I found out that doing what’s best for someone such as a patient is often manipulated and, at times, compromised. Clients are manipulated by other factors, including rules or guidelines linked
Reinventing Healthcare-A Fred Friendly Seminar was produced in 2008. The film explores the current issues in health care at that time. This paper explores the issues that were addressed in the movie and compares them to the problems of health care today.

While attempting to attain the required physical conditioning, people often take chances with their personal health as they try to stretch their physical limits. Sometimes, people can surpass their current limits and form new boundaries; however, other times people are not so fortunate. These unfortunate times often lead to injury, including workplace accidents, sporting incidents, disease afflictions, as well as others; any or all of which could bring about the need of rehabilitation services. Many of these require physical therapy, which includes assisting injured or otherwise impaired patients as they recover to their pre-injury status or to recover as much as is physically possible. The field of physical therapy is a choice career for those who enjoy helping people recover from injury, and the following text will provide reason for choosing this profession.

My path to becoming a physical therapist starts with a bachelor's degree. This program will cover a lot of science topics, such as anatomy and pharmacology. After I complete a bachelor's degree program, I won't be qualified to work as a physical therapist until I complete the Doctorate degree program. In a Doctorate degree program, I will get to work in clinical situations, participate in internships and gain the necessary skills needed to become a licensed Physical Therapist. Licensing is done through the state that you wish to work in. If I wish to advance my career and go into teaching or research, I will need to complete a doctoral degree program. Regardless of whether I complete a doctoral program, I will be required to take continuing
“Where am I? How did I get here?” is what many stroke patients say after recovering from an acute or severe stroke. A stroke is also known as a cerebrovascular accident, a life-threatening event where the brain is deprived of adequate oxygen. A physical therapist’s duty is to provide assistance and education that will help patients rehabilitate and return to a normal routine. As of today, there is a new treatment called treadmill training with partial body weight support that facilitates recovery of a patient’s ability to walk sooner after a surgery. Is the expense for treadmill training with partial body weight support which includes expensive equipment and constant physical therapy supervision worth it if it decrease the amount of time it takes a person to get better? Is it ultimately more efficient than traditional physical therapy? My argument will state that treadmill training with partial body weight support is worth the expense and provides better techniques than traditional physical therapy.
The occupation of physical therapy has been around for centuries. Throughout time it has evolved greatly as a medical practice and an area of study. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of 2012, there were 204,200 physical therapists employed throughout the United States of America.

My journey to pursue an education in physical therapy actually originates from my early childhood. I endured a very impoverished upbringing and my family’s socioeconomic status was below the poverty line. At a very young age, money became the central issue of my life. I found myself worrying about mortgages, health bills, and grocery money. As I grew older, I vowed to myself that I would not endure my family’s financial burdens into my adulthood. I knew the best way to accomplish this was by obtaining a college degree and having a professional career. However, I was unsure what career I wanted to pursue. I experimented with many different career ideas, but during my sophomore, I discovered my passion and skill for physical medicine. For my
Therapy Analysis The purpose of this paper is to examine the efficacy of my work as a co-therapist during the fifth session with the simulated couple Katy and Michelle. I will discuss our therapy agenda and the goals we hope to attain during the session. It is prudent to begin by giving a brief outline of the couple’s present problem and the patterns of dysfunction that I have identified within their relationship. In my opinion, it is the therapist’s job to recognize patterns and behaviors that disrupt the intimate bond between the partners.
I will complete all my courses and obtain my first bachelor degree in kinesiology in August. I am so excited because I spent six years on earning this degree. I realized most of my classmates are applying to different graduate schools right now, but I decide to take one year off and engage in different activities. My original plan was apply to the accelerated nursing program after I finished my first bachelor, but I changed my mind because kinesiology was an amazing major and it opened my eyes. I used to believe I could only be a good nurse; however, I gain confidence when I took exercise physiology and motor control classes and believed I have the potential to become a good surgeon. I was hired as a teacher assistant and a lab research assistant
Utilising John’s model of structured reflection I will reflect on the care I instigated to a patient with complex needs. The patient in question was admitted to the Emergency Assessment Unit for surgical patients then transferred to the ward where I work as a staff nurse.
