Three of the career paths that I’m going to explain about starting off first, are physical therapists. Based off the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), They talk a lot about physical therapists with an overview about them. They define physical therapists as professionals that examine and treats patients with a plan to reduce the pain they face that limit their everyday activities. In a typical work day, they examine and diagnose patients which include testing their functions of the body, coordination, and many more examinations that determine if the patient can go back to work after suffering from an injury or illness. Exercise physiology is a specialization within the field of Kinesiology. This subdiscipline is also important to professionals in the field of Kinesiology because it studies how the body responds to physical activity and how the body adapts to it over time. Exercise physiology and physical therapy are both use in physical movement and exercise to improve conditions of patients that are suffering from injuries. Physical Therapy focuses on restoring movement while exercise physiology relieves symptoms through exercise on the body. Motor behavior is study of how skills are learned, controlled, developed, and PT’s use this in helping patients by guiding them for recovery from their injuries. The last sub discipline, biomechanics, is the science of movement of a living body on how muscles and bones work together to produce movement. This also relates to physical therapists because this can be used to study patients on how their body works when they are examining their …show more content…
Some of the sub disciplines that I am going to talk about of personal trainers are motor behavior, exercise physiology, and biomechanics. The relevance motor behavior has that personal trainers can relate to is how motor behavior has the study on motor skills that assist people with physical activity the same on how personal trainers study on clients and helps assist them practice during workouts. Exercise physiology is understanding how your body would react to exercise and relates to personal trainers because both uses the exercise to improve the health of the clients. The last subdiscipline, biomechanics, plays an important role as well because knowing how the body moves is important in a personal trainers job. For example, your muscles, bones, and many more would be good to know as a personal trainer and know how does it affect movement. With all the information about personal trainers I realized that if you didn't care about the wages and cared more about helping people get in shape, this would be the perfect career to go
Exercise science possess many traits that attracted my attention whether it dealt with the different job opportunities or the ability to help an individual. There are two areas of exercise science that one can choose as a possible career path or as a major minoring in something else related to this type of work. One of the areas of study includes exercise physiology which can be defined by “the study of how the body’s structures and functions are changed as a result of acute and chronic bouts of exercise”. Not only does exercise physiology promote a healthy lifestyle, but it is closely connected to human performance, fitness, development/aging, and prevention/rehabilitation from disease or injury. Pursuing a degree in exercise physiology allows an individual in this profession to choose between several careers including physical education, exercise science and athletic training (Fisher, 2). In addition, becoming a chiropractor can be achieved through exercise science.

A year and three months ago, I was at football practice. I was on the defensive line. I tripped up the running back, but the running back landed on my left ankle. The result was a fracture on my left tibia. I played on my injury for two weeks. At that moment, I was not able to play football for the rest of the year. During this summer, I injured my back. I began to accumulate information about how to treat my injuries. While I was researching, the words physical therapy popped up. I clicked on them, and the article discussed what a physical therapist does. When I was halfway down the article, it stated that a physical therapist helps people with injuries like mine. After researching, I decided to be a physical therapist.
Now that you have a better understanding about Athletic training, I will explain about physical therapy and why I would like have as a lifetime career. In an article I read, the author Sue Klappa said that, “PT’s reach into our communities through engagement and social responsibility. It compels us to bring hope and love to others. It urges us to learn to see things differently. It holds the promise of defining moments, as we take the time to see things in a new light” (Klappa 2). Klappa is a physical therapist that traveled the world to help others and when she went to different countries. She learned how important physical therapist are in the medical field and how she can get others attention. Starting a career path in physical therapy can
Physical therapy and kinesiology work in a close relationship to each other. Essentially one may think they are one in the same, however there are small differences between the two that provide different results when applied singularly. As a combined effort physical therapy and kinesiology work to heal the muscles and joints of the body, recreating movements perfectly as they were before injury or in some cases as closely as one can get to a perfect function. First one must understand where the lone is drawn between the two fields and how they balance each other to create desirable results in a patient.

Entering my first year of college I didn’t have any idea of what I wanted to do. I still didn’t choose a major let alone a career. I was stuck in between wanting to make enough money that my family would be taken care of financially and choosing a career that I wouldn’t mind going in to work every day. The one thing that I was certain of was that I wanted to be able to help people in whatever I chose to do. After careful consideration and exploring the options available to me, I have come to the conclusion that I want to have a career in physical therapy. Physical therapy is the treatment of disease, injury or deformity through physical methods rather than through drugs or surgery.
People across the world participate in recovery programs every day. Dedicated people in professions, such as occupational therapy, work to help each person regain his or her ability to engage in everyday activities. One wishing to pursue a career in occupational therapy would first need to evaluate the career and the significant effects on themselves and the clients.
Educational requirements, opportunities and general demands of the career are only a few of the areas to inquire about in the field of physical therapy. This career is diverse in nature, in that a therapist sees many different ailments ranging from a sprained ankle to rehabilitating someone who has had an amputation. There is a fair degree of difficulty involved in becoming a physical therapist, and due to the high competition involved in entering the various Master’s degree programs as stated earlier, high grades and a positive attitude are very important for success in an interested student’s career. Volunteering is a great way to find out if a person would or would not be interested in entering the practice of physical therapy. This is an exciting career with many opportunities for advancement. This career is also a nice choice for those who become bored with the tedious monotony of a daily routine, since each day is a new experience.
The career I have chose is Physical Therapy(PT). Physical Therapist do many different things, but their main function is to help impaired or physically disabled people enhance their movement and handle their pain. Physical Therapist are a main source in the rehabilitation, medical care and prevention of people with long lasting illnesses or damage. The reason I chose this career is because I love helping people and enjoy seeing people be motivated and succeed at their task. To help someone gain full strength in their limbs or maybe even learn how to walk again is my lifelong dream. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career
Some schools do offer an undergraduate/doctoral degree program that allows any student to graduate with both, bachelor's and doctoral degrees. This may give the student an extra advantage when it comes to applying for a job. Volunteering is something that many doctoral programs may require, so any student that volunteer in a hospital or clinic not only allows them to enter the program, but also gives them experience that will be useful later on in his or her career. In the end all students must earn a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy in order to actually practice as a therapist. These programs last around 3 years. As part of training you are supervised for seven months in a clinical setting that includes lab and classroom instruction in medical diagnostic, patient examination and evaluation, orthopedics, prosthetic, and medical screening. Clinical experience,as i have said before, is the best way in preparing people that are pursuing this career. If they wish, therapist can then specialize in a particular area, allowing them to apply for a residency program. “The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) offer eight designations for physical therapist seeking advancement in the field. The eight specialties include: sports, orthopedics, geriatrics, neurology, clinical electrophysiology, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and women’s
