Phone Massacre What did I do? How did this even happen? It was early Saturday, 8:00am. I was sleeping soundly, in my room. There was nothing that could ruin my sleep, except maybe my parents. So as always, my parents being the loud people they are, woke me up. I swear if they lived in another house, I would still be able to hear them. Although they were loud, I was tired and I wasn’t gonna let them disturb my sleep. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw my phone get a snapchat, then I saw the long list of snaps. The list was so long, it seemed like it never ended. I was being put to sleep by the sight of loading sign next to the names, with the dimmed screen. I slowly turned half way off my bed and picked up my phone. I was still practically
I had got some sleep when Boom!!!. “What's wrong” I cry out hoping for an answer. It never comes. I run out to the hall with my belongings. “Hey lady” I hear from behind me.
and soon I was sleeping. I spent a great deal of time asleep over the
The worst mass murder suicide in history was the Jonestown Massacre. The Jonestown Massacre happened on November 18th 1978.More then 900 people were killed in the Massacre, 232 of which were children. The Massacre happened on a piece of land in Guyana that the People’s Temple, run by James Jones, had bought. The People’s Temple was a church run by James Jones who preached about diversity and racism. James was not a real preacher, all of his speeches were based on his opinions and theories of the world. He pretended to be a doctor. People would give him money and he would pretend to heal them. He founded his church in 1965. After getting bad press about his speeches, he took his followers and moved them all out to Guyana, telling them they were going to live in a more communal way. Jones’s followers gave him money supposedly for the church, all the working adults gave at least 25% of their paycheck to him and everyone getting social security checks gave their checks to him. The people of Jonestown raised animals and farmed in the middle of the Guyana Jungle, as their new way of life.
Two decades ago a strange series of events ended in the deaths of more than 900 people in the middle of a South American jungle. Though thought of as a "massacre," what occurred at Jonestown on November 18, 1978, was to some extent done willingly. This made the mass suicide more disturbing. The Jonestown cult which was officially named “The People's Temple" was founded by a reverend named James Warren Jones, also known as Jim Jones, from Indianapolis in 1955. Jones, who didn’t have medical training, based his liberal ministry as a combination of religious and socialist viewpoints.
The Le Paradis Massacre happened on 27 May 1940 when the British troops were attempting to retreat through the Pas-de-Calais region during the Battle of Dunkirk. The Le Paradis massacre was a war crime committed by German troops who were under the command of Hauptsturmführer Fritz Knöchlein. Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Norfolk Regiment had lost contact with their regiment. They then occupied and defended a farmhouse against an attack by German troops in the village of Le Paradis. After they had run out of ammunition, the British soldiers surrendered to the German troops. The British troops were then led across the road to a wall and machine-gunned. Knöchlein at that time had his men armed with bayonets to kill any remaining survivors.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre was the first movie to use Ed Gein’s man-eating behavior. “The events of that day were to lead to the discovery of one of the most bizarre crimes in the annals of American history, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” (CITE). The movie is about five friends. The main characters, Sally and Franklin, want to visit their grandfather’s graveyard because there were reports about grave robbing on the news. After seeing the tombstone, the five friends decided to go visit grandpa’s house as well. On their way, they met a hitchhiker and they offer him a ride. They threw him out after he slashed the arm of Franklin in the car, which creep them all out. Afterwards, the group realizes that they need gas. So they stop to refuel, but the man at
The Tulsa Race Massacre was a two day long race massacre, which took place from May 31st to June 1st 1921, that occurred in the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Greenwood district during 1921 was a prosperous African American community in Tulsa that was often referred to as Black Wall Street. A young man, by the name of Dick Rowland, apparently stumbled up against a white woman in an elevator and from there false assault accusations formed against Rowland (secondary). Rowland was arrested and awaiting trial when a misleading article from the Tulsa Tribune continued to stir up accusations of assault. White mobs along with African American mobs formed around the courthouse where Rowland was being held and the overriding tensions eventually led to the beginning of the Tulsa Race Massacre.
Nothing does more to tear our families apart than violent crime, guns, gangs, drugs, and the fear that walks alongside those terrors. Violent crime and victim rights have become a major concern for most citizens in the United States of America. Statistics indicate a decline in violent crimes in our country and an increase in our national prison population. Released prisoners commit most violent crimes. Gun control legislation, reform programs, victim rights awareness, and other programs are abundant in our country, but do little to alleviate violent crime. In this paper I will try to present the liberal and conservative views on this issue as well as my own views.
For this project, I decided to write a short story about the 1921 Tulsa Massacre because I wanted to spend the time learning more about it since it’s considered one of the deadliest and worst acts of racial violence in the history of the United States. I chose to write a short story giving a fictionalized account of the event because it challenged me to put myself in their shoes and understand the experiences that the Black people of Tulsa endured. Writing a story about a great tragedy such as this presents some important challenges and things I need to keep in mind. I needed to make sure that I didn’t sensationalize the events and maintained a strong sense of authenticity and respect, otherwise I would be doing a disservice to the people who
Columbine High was a very tragic incident that spread around the country and had rumors that multiplied and spread like wildfire. It terrified people everywhere causing many things to change in schools, teachers, and in students. Schools learned from this attack that anything could happen when you least expect it and that they needed to prepare for the worst if it ever came.
Kill La Kill is more than just fan service but instead, message about fascism and the risk of wearable technology. Kill La Kill is an anime that aired last fall in japan and was produced by Trigger. I flipped the top of my phone down and sat back in my chair. I could
Let's brainstorm here for a second. What do southern families in the U.S hate? Electric cars? Grilled chicken? Democrats? One could debate this all day, but one thing is for certain. Apparently, southerners hate the iPhone. In a recent viral video, a Southern Mom was filmed shooting up her kids' smartphone as a protest against social media. Here are five facts about the incident.
I was dreaming about something and my “Best of Intentions” ring tone was blaring in my ear. Good thing I woke up, because I don’t even remember setting my alarm. I must have done that when I was sober and thinking about the day ahead. I laid there in bed thinking of why I had my alarm set, and then it hit me. My mom is in town, and I’m supposed to spend the day with her. I some how had to get off the bed, but it really wasn’t that hard since when I woke up I was half on half off the bed anyways. My head felt like it weighed 100 pounds, it kept bobbing like those dashboard ornaments. I some how got to my feet and wondered, “What the hell, where am I?” Then I realized where I was, I was at Lumberjack Hill in my friends apartment. Wow, definitely didn’t remember getting there. So I stumbled my way to the bath room, I tried to spit in the sink and nothing came out, my mouth was as dry as the Sierra. Absolutely nothing came out, I guess that’s what three bottles of tequila, a case of corona, and three keggers will do to you. I jumped in the shower; actually ...
As I sat up and looked around, I realized that I must have been asleep
