The Education process is one that gradually proceeds throughout life, greatly in early years and really never stops. There will always be something someone has not learned. Knowledge is a powerful tool. One of the most well-known educators in the 20th Century, Christa McAuliffe, before her tragic death said, “I touch the future, I teach.” As an educator you seek to influence each of your students. A goal, common to many new and old teachers; as well as, those who ‘hope to be” desire the ability to touch someone’s future. In the opportunity one has as an educator it is likely that the future of one immediate student or even a small part of the success of our nation will be affected. If it had not been for the hard work and dedication of previous teachers our nation and even world would not be at the level it is today. If no one had ever learned the fundamental concepts of mathematics and science we would not have vehicles, airplanes, televisions, compact discs, computers, and the list continues. In other words, our world would virtually not exist as we know it. One example, from a long list of other notable achievements possible only thought the education process is a man by the name of Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft. If there had not been teachers to help him understand the basics of math, science, English and other usual subjects, he would not have made it to the collegiate level, thus banishing any ideas that Microsoft has contributed to our technological advancement in the computer industry. In fact, we would not have the computer operation system like the one utilized in homes and offices at present. So, in proclaiming that a teacher touches the futu...

...working toward a Masters degree either in education or educational administration. It will likely be educational administration; however, I will decide after I become involved in an actual classroom environment I have also considered a Doctorate in one of these two fields; though, at this time it is too early to commit myself. As an educator I will probably join a local, state, and national teacher organization such as National Education Association. This for support of various aspects of my professional career, including salary, better working environment, and legal issues.
Overall, I feel my desire to be an educator, my diverse philosophy, and the plans I have for my professional development will all contribute to my effectiveness as a teacher. I also feel that my philosophy will likely become more enriched as I gain experience in the field.
Their technology has become so advanced that they will spend hours and hours in their ‘parlor’ surrounded by four wall-sized TVs. Mildred also mentions that the script was a new idea that was being tested and that means that their society is still advancing in technology. In a conversation between Montag and Clarisse, Clarisse starts talking about drivers and the advancement of technology, “‘I sometimes think drivers don’t know what grass is, or flowers, because they never see them slowly,’ she said, ‘If you showed a driver a green blur, Oh yes! he’d say, that’s grass! A pink blur? That’s a rose
Have you ever sat at a table surrounded by friends whose eyes were glued to their phones? According to ABC News, kids spend an average of seven and a half hours on technology and only 38 minutes of reading in a day. In Ray Bradbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451, the society is very similar to ours. Technology has taken over and has made society very closed minded. People are unwilling to remove their eyes from large TV screens to see why things happen, and to notice all the little things in life that make it worth living. Without open-mindedness and curiosity, society would corrupt like in Fahrenheit 451, all because of an overuse of technology. Technology causes society to become a dystopia and once the society is one, there comes a point where you cannot reverse it. Bradbury emphasizes the importance of paying attention to the world and what happens when you become addicted to technology.
I feel the areas that I have touched in this paper along with my personal philosophy statement, reflect my views and opinions as a future educator. I have spoke about areas that are of importance to me, and ideas that I feel will make a difference in someone’s life. As a teacher, I truly want to make a difference and teach students the importance of an education, and the opportunities that are available to them. Education can take people places and I feel more people need to come to this realization.
Every day they would have the same routine with their eyes glued to the television screen and almost no real face to face conversations. They became more interested in the imaginative digital world rather than what was actually occurring. Mildred for example was an example of this, as she didn’t care about anything other than her television. Her own husband was like a random person on the street to her. First, Montag asks Mildred“When did we meet and where?....... I don’t know” (Montag asking Mildred Pg.43) In this scene, Montag is curious to know where he and Mildred, his wife, first met. She replies that she doesn’t remember. This proves how Mildred became so indulged into the digital world that she can’t even remember a moment that would be monumental to another persons life. Instead, Mildred is more intrigued by the fascinations of the people behind the screen. Next, Mildred doesn’t care about life itself anymore and is driven to the point of near s suicide. Montag, after noticing the pills in the bottle all gone, confronts Mildred saying, “You took all the pills in your bottle last night” (Pg.19). This signifies Mildreds underlying unhappiness. Watching television most likely made her depressed, and unhappy with life because she no longer cared for anything other than material items. People like Mildred were an example for a citizen consumed by the media, and materialistic items of life, where they
In his culture there is a lack of emotion and love towards anyone or anything in general. People don’t remember why they love each other or why they’re together and do not care for one another. This lack of love and emotion is shown between Montag and Mildred in their relationship. After Montag confronts Mildred about taking the pills she appears to be confused and denies it stating she “never in a billion years” would take a bottle full of pills. The discourse in their relationship may be the main reason she takes pills. She appears to have depression due to the way her marriage has developed and how she lives her life. To cope with her problems she takes a bottle full of pills to try to kill herself. The TVs in the parlor are there to distract her from the pain she truly feels inside, but when the TVs go off and she is in her room she cannot deal with what she's in the mirror. This connects to an article titled Mental Disorders in which a person with depression is described as having “feelings of guilt” and “thoughts of death or suicide”. The feelings of guilt Mildred feels are due to her awareness of the absence of love in her marriage, and inside it tears her apart because she knows that it is not how things are supposed to be with her
I remember as a kid there was nothing more enchanting then going home to play video games. Before I knew it I had become enslaved by my video games. Back then I did not realize it but everything I did was influenced by my video games. Just as I didn’t realize the chains video games had tied around my legs, much of society doesn’t realize how they have become tied down and enslaved by technology. Technology really has come far since 1951. In 1951 it was only possible to hypothesize about futuristic technology just as Ray Bradbury did in his book Fahrenheit 451. However, Ray Bradbury would have never imagined the decisive role that technology has had upon children of the 21st century. Internet, video games, and television has a detrimental effect
Why is education such an essential part of our culture? We, as a society, are extremely materialistic and view education as a ladder to a higher socio-economic plateau, which consists of better job opportunities and a better lifestyle. Education is at the core every career imaginable and, regardless of technological advances, there will always be a need for teachers. Teachers touch lives every day. I am becoming an educator because I feel that I can positively influence the lives of others. I am confident in my ability to interact with others as I look forward to improving students’ lives through education.
Technology has infiltrated a large part of society. It is integrated in almost every activity we do and for many, is required to function. Unlike the majority of society, Ray Bradbury, a technophobe during the 1950’s, did not trust the new inventions emerging at that time. This fear of technology is depicted in his novel Fahrenheit 451 where civilians live in a dystopian society that burns books as a normality. This dystopian world is set within the lives of people who do not think twice about their actions and live care-free in their own small-minded worlds. The novel serves its purpose as an epiphany for many as the most important themes of ignorance, censorship and conformity versus individuality stand out as the most important issues in
Tablets, iPads, iPhones, MacBooks, and more. Technology is everywhere. Would one ever have thought of the idea that it is not helping anyone? In fact, technology is making everyone feel connected, yet lonely; informed, yet confused; comfortable, yet pressurized (Is technology moving too fast). Even societies have begun to question whether technology is beneficial or harmful to the people. This question arises because technology has many positive aspects, but there are more negative aspects. Science fiction novels mainly show the negative aspects of life. For example, Fahrenheit 451 was written to inform readers of what could become of this world. Even a half a century ago, the author of Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury, thought that younger children
My professional plans for the future are to immediately start teaching when I graduate college. However, on my own time I plan on expanding my education to the furthest extent I can in order to continue learning along with my students. Education lies within the strength of a single person, a teacher. The teacher who gets the strength to rise out of bed every morning and face a new day. A teacher has to hold their head up high when they walk into a classroom for fear that the slightest show of weakness may destroy them. To achieve this is the most important purpose in a teacher's life. A teacher is someone who is willing to teach students even when they crave to do other things with their time. An achievement in education lies solely within the goal of becoming greater, which I plan to strive to do.
...ow that I can go out there and make the kids smile and have fun but again that's easy. I want to be the teacher that the kids remember not only because I was but but also because I taught them something and gave them a new way of critically looking at things. I think I'll be good at implementing the social learning theory because I enjoy being involved and if doing so if helpful to them then its another added bonus. I hope I can keep my ideas fresh and creative through the use of technology so I always keep the children interest and keep them motivated and wanting to learn more. I believe that if you can get a kid motivated to learn then you can find a way to teach them anything. I really think I am going to enjoy not only challenging the kids, but also challenging myself to keep finding ways to relate to each student and to get them interested and excited to learn.
Webster defines philosophy as a critical study of fundamental beliefs and the grounds for them. In this philosophy, I will be talking about the three great philosophers: Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. These three philosophers represent the birthplace of Western philosophy.
As a school counselor, my mission is to help students learn about themselves and develop in three areas; personal/social, education, and career. I believe that every student has a gift that was given by God and my goal is to help students identify those gifts and purse those gifts to become successful students and citizens.
...to teach as a college professor, but I will be happy in any teaching job that I can find within my area. My greatest joy will be in teaching students about the world around them and seeing the results of this knowledge. The past experiences and the future experiences of my school career will help me to implement my plans and develop new ideas. I will, in my classroom, be able to use the philosophies of essentialism, behaviorism, progressivism, and existentialism in an eclectic approach to benefit the students that I will be teaching. There are many things left for me to learn, and like the progressivists, I believe that there is constant change in the world around us. With this change there will always be something new for me to learn and therefore something new for me to teach. The job of a teacher is an occupation filled with never ending surprises and joys.
I believe educators are one of the most important careers out there, without them where would we be today? Would you be reading this paper? Would you still be able to read, write, or have an educated conversation? Would you know how to pay for things at the grocery store, and know if you’re receiving the correct change back? Would you know how to tell time, so you can manage your day? When I look back to my young developing stages in life, I always ask myself where would I be today if it wasn’t for my teachers? Teachers are the ones who are building our future generations. Preparing children and teens for higher education. Also playing a huge part in shaping children’s lives, enlightening them, and educating them about society and the world around them; the types of things that a parent doesn’t have time for, or just lacks the knowledge of. I think teachers are what help make this world go round. We simply go to school to learn, and get educated, so that someday we can get a job, or start a business to supply for our families and our self. How would we acq...
