I. Introduction
The tourism industry is one of the sectors that each and every country gives so much focus on, it is one of the income generating body that affects the economic stature and also it provides jobs and a source of income for the nation.
The Philippines are archipelagic in geographical manner, its tourism sector has a wide range of activities to offer. Diversity is very prominent to take note of its 7107 islands that varies not just in tourist destination but in cultural aspect as well. However, in the early 2000’s tourism industry has not been at its peak as its neighboring countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Thus, the birth of the WOW Philippines campaign to integrate and boost the Philippine tourism
And in 1956, the Philippine Congress integrated it as the Board of Travel and Tourist Industry, in line with this is the amendment to separate tourism sector from the Department of Commerce and Industry, thus the birth of the Department of Trade and Tourism. Under this department is the Philippine Tourism Commission, which main tasks is to oversee and manage tourism industry. After several changes in the Department of Tourism platform, in 1986 under Executive Order Numbers 120 and 120-A signed by President Corazon Aquino, the Department of Tourism was refurbished, continuing its mandate in preserving tourist and cultural destination along with coming up with different tourism
Its islands is comprised by diversed and natural wonders; from having smallest but very active volcano in Taal Lake, Batangas; the 2nd deepest ocean and one of the most comprehensive marine systems in the world; biggest eagle in Davao; one of the best beach destinations in Boracay; largest and most valuable pearl in the world found in n Palawan; most perfect conical-shaped Mayon Volcano in Legaspi; sweetest mango in Zambales; one of the richest orchid flora in the world; old and historical battle wreck sites in Subic; smallest primate (Tarsier) found in Bohol; to the majestic man made Banaue Rice Terraces which is considered as the 8th wonder of the modern
