The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.”

in high school, he actively participated in sports. Including varsity basketball, football, baseball and discus, which where Jackson's outlets and eventually led to his future success. Jackson assumed he would become a minister, never did it cross his mind of being a coach, let alone a renowned one. Jackson has five children three girls and two boys, including eight grandchildren. He was married twice and both relationships ended in divorce. As life moved forward for Jackson he owns a home in Lakeside, Montana which he vacations at frequently in his off time. As a member of the University of North Dakota basketball team, he averaged 27 points per game and was named an All-American in 1967.
In 1969 Jackson was drafted into the NBA’s New York Knicks. He was a good athlete but was limited offensively but compensated with intelligence on defense. In 1970, the New York Knicks basketball team were the winners of the National Basketball Association championship (NBA). However Jackson was unable to aid his team in the season due to spinal fusion surgery. Three years later several key starters for the New York Knicks retired creating an opening for Jackson in the starting lineup, which resulted in Jackson having the leading personal fouls of 330. Jackson was then drafted over to play for the New Jersey Nets, he only played two seasons with them before he retired as a professional NBA basketball player in …show more content…
1980. In the following years Jackson found his love for basketball again with being a coach instead of a player. Jackson started coaching younger basketball leagues, which included the Puerto Rico’s National Superior Basketball and the Continental Basketball Association. He was hired as an assistant coach for the Chicago bulls in 1987. After head coach, Doug Collins, was fired; Jackson led the Chicago Bulls for the next 9 years to six championships alongside Tex Winter using his triangle defense method with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen being his top players. Tex Winter learned basketball triangle offense while playing at the University of Southern California, and he taught the complicated system better than anyone. Winter’s was a key figure in teaching the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers alongside Jackson. Despite the Chicago's Bulls success there was tension between the Chicago Bulls general manager Jerry Krause and Jackson. Krause stated that he felt under-recognized with helping build such a successful team and felt that Jackson owed him due to giving Jackson a NBA coaching job. Krause said he would not be hiring Jackson for another season and publicly portrayed Jackson as a self loathing who had no regard for his assistant coaches. After his last season with the Bulls Jackson stated he would not be returning to the coaching world again. Nonetheless after taking a year off from coaching Jackson re-signed with the Los Angeles Lakers as head coach in 1999. After taking over Los Angeles Lakers he immediately showed progress just like when he was coaching the Chicago Bulls. While coaching Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant the top two players of the team, Jackson led the Lakers to three titles adding up to his third three peat as a head coach. However like any sport there are always injuries, weak sportsmanship, and tension between players. Bryant would often disregard the set offense and experiment on his own. He tested Jacksons patience often enough that he demanded Bryant be traded, of course it was denied by the Lakers management. On June 18.2018, the Los Angeles Lakers announced that Jackson would leave his position as head coach due to controversy between Bryant and Jackson.
Due to Jacksons and O’Neals absence the Lakers were forced to approach there game play differently. The Lakers achieved little success in the first half the season thus resulting in the team missing the playoffs for the first time. Midway through the season coach Rudy Tomjanovich resigned as coach which led to the speculation that the Lakers might bring back Jackson as head coach.
Barely a year later on June 15, 2005 the Lakers rehired Jackson thus leading the Lakers to a seventh playoff. Promoting the triangle defense the team achieved solid results, especially in the last month of the season. Bryant and Jackson decided it was time to cast aside their differences. In 2006, it was the first time the Lakers failed to reach playoffs. The Lakers leading the game by a last second shot in overtime to win, but the Phoenix Suns recovered to win the last three points and took the
series. The following year Jackson won his 900th game placing him on the prestigious win list of NBA coaches. In 2008, the Los Angeles Lakers won a match against the Celtics team which in return making Jackson the sixth NBA coach to win 1,000 games. On December 7, 1996 Jackson was named one of the 10 greatest head coaches in NBA history. A little more than a decade later, Jackson was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September of 2007. At the time he was in his 8th year coaching. In the seven years prior he coached 574 games and won 414, with only 160 losses. He continued his success in his later career, Jackson retains the highest win-loss percentage of any coach. Jackson was diagnosed with prostate cancer in March 2011. He told the Lakers players in May 2011, when they were in a playoff series against the Mavericks. Jackson decided to delay his surgery until after the playoffs. In 2014, Jackson got an offer from the New York Knicks as president, he signed a five year contact with the Knicks worth 60 million. On January 7, 2015, the Knicks set a franchise record with 13 straight losses. The Knicks fell 101–91 to the Washington Wizards, giving New York its longest losing streak in history. They ended the season with a record of 17–65, which is the worst record in franchise history. On June 28, 2017, the Knicks officially announced a mutual decision to part ways with Jackson. Jackson’s most recent book was published in 2013, “Eleven rings: The Soul of Success”. In this book, he wrote about his experiences as a player for the New York Knicks. He has also mentioned some tips on how to become an accomplished basketball player. The question of why Phil Jackson is so successful is an ongoing debate among the NBA. As Jackson himself has pointed out, neither he nor Winter originated the triangle offense, he has simply used it more successfully than others. Jackson gets his players to focus on a common goal and in this mode they play well consistently. In an era when star players far outrank their coaches in salary and influence, he has proven that coaching is still essential to winning titles. He has taken some of the NBA's finest individual players Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kobe Bryant. Jackson made them key components of championship teams.
Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway is a gifted guard whose shooting, passing and athletic abilities earned him a spot on the All-NBA First Team and who helped the Magic reach the NBA Finals in 1995, only his second season in the league. The 6-7 Hardaway combines height, ballhandling and an accurate outside stroke into an exciting all-around game, although his scoring tailed off in his final two seasons with Orlando and he was traded to Phoenix prior to the 1999-2000 season. A native of Memphis, Tennessee Hardaway always seemed destined for roundball success. He was Parade magazine's National High School Player of the Year in 1990, when as a prep senior he averaged 36.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.3 steals, and 2.8 blocks. He chose to attend nearby Memphis State (now the University of Memphis) but had to sit out 1990-91 in order to become academically eligible. Hardaway, who achieved a 3.4 cumulative grade point average in college, ripped up the Great Midwestern Conference for two seasons. As a junior in 1992-93 he averaged 22.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 6.4 assists; shot .477 from the field; recorded 2 triple-doubles; and set a school single-season record for points with 729. He was named conference Player of the Year, a First-Team All-American, and a finalist for the Naismith and Wooden Awards. The Orlando Magic, who had secured Shaquille O'Neal with the No. 1 pick in the 1992 NBA Draft, won the NBA Draft Lottery again in 1993. The team took Michigan's Chris Webber with the No.

In the book, "They Call Me Coach" by John Wooden, he talks about the importance of a teacher and coach as a role model for kids. In the book, you will get to walk through his life from when he was a little kid and first fell in love with basketball to when he retired from active coaching at UCLA in 1975. Even though the Bulls played many great seasons the 1990’s seasons were the best in the franchise’s history. It wasn’t just Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen as the all-stars of the 1990’s there were many other contributing players such as; William “Bill” Cartwright, Horace Grant, and B.J. Armstrong. Even though these players have since retired they have set a precedent for the future Bull’s franchise players. Just as Coach Phil Jackson has increased the level of intensity for current and future Chicago Bulls coaches.

Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767, in the Waxhaw settlement, a community of Scotch-Irish immigrants along the border between north and south Carolina. As far as I know they are still disputing his place of origin. he claimed that his place of origin was actually south Carolina though in my opinion if he said he was from there he was from that location. His father had died before his birth Andrew’s mother had three sons and was living with her Crawford relatives. Jackson was attending local schools and received an elementary education.

Lyndon B. Johnson's, a man who was raised from humble beginnings was able to rise up in politics from a Representative, to a Senator, to Vice President, and finally becoming our nation’s 36th President. Starting off his presidency with tragedy due to John F. Kennedy’s assassination, he took the position of extending the legacy of JFK’s visions and making them his own during his time in office. Although Lyndon B. Johnson is not viewed as one of our greatest presidents due to his foreign policies and involvement in the Vietnam War, his achievements in domestic policies in my opinion has had the greatest developmental impact on politics in the US since 1945.

Soon the family singing group started, with Michael as the main puppet and four of his older brothers. “After all it seemed to be the simplest way to earn money to feed so many kids said Joseph Jackson”. If you can't feed your kids teach them how to feed themselves. Anyway Michael soon outgrew his brothers with his unique talent not just for singing but for dancing as well. Jackson’s father, who is a controlling supposedly abusive father. "My father beat me. It was difficult to take being beaten and then going onstage.

While his playing career is very impressive, his coaching career is where he made the biggest affect. He coached the Minnesota Gophers to three NCAA championships in 1974, 1976, and 1979. After the Gophers won their 1979 championship Brooks was selected as the head coach of the 1980 Olympic men’s team. He chose his team carefully, choosing several players from Minnesota and also several from Minnesota rivals, Boston College. The tryouts were held
