Philately, the study of stamps, differs from stamp collecting, although both hobbies appear synonymous with each other. Not every philatelist collects stamps, however, and many collectors hoard rare stamps without getting involved with the tiny details behind each commemorative adhesive postmark. Building a comprehensive stamp collection may require a basic education in philatelic literature to assess the worth in its current form.
Stamp collectors will accumulate postage stamps for their historical value and unique, geographical aspects. Some collectors will acquire an interest in many different subjects depicting various events, ships, animals, and authority figures, such as Kings, Queens, Presidents and Dictators. Some countries create limited runs of stamps in order to generate an income stream based on stamp collectors contributions. For instance, the postal stamps produced by these countries far exceed the actual demand for service runs; however, the fancy, topical designs attract postage stamp collectors for additions to an ever-expanding stamp album. Most valuable stamps can be found at conventions, private meetings arranged by philately organizations and associations, garage or estate sales, auction houses, and online auction websites. Some popular tools used by philatelists and stamp collectors include: stamp tongs, a strong magnifying glass, and a perforation gauge.

The people of Texas are diverse and carry their “big can-do attitudes and accents” (Pearson); making Texas a bigger than life state. The political culture of Texas is impacted by two different subgroups of individualistic and traditionalistic characteristics. The combination of traditionalism and individualism has had a huge impact on the state and Texas’ seven different constitutions. The shift in power between 1827 and 1876 has impacted the political diversity Texas has today. Looking at the specifics of these subcultures, the traditionalists believe government should benefit the wealthy and powerful, and that government services must be limited.
Texas is an intricate state with deep roots embedded in limited government authority. Almost all, Texans, favor the limited government between citizens and state. The two most important cultures in Texas are individualistic and traditionalistic culture. Individualistic views are summoned by limited government and that politics are the root of malicious acts, and is usually responded with negative reactions from the community. The individualistic cultures’ vision is egotistical for ones self-interest. The individualistic culture is viewed as priority in private independent business rather that those of the community as a whole. Unlike individualistic views, traditionalistic culture is motioned by conservatism. This cultures vision is supported by the common wealth of society’s privileged. Its beliefs are usually of distrust in its bureaucracy. Traditionalistic culture maintains an obligation to its family hierarchy. The traditionalistic subculture has a lower voting turn out rate compared to the opposition. These distinctive cultures were bestowed upon Texans in the 1800’s, when Texas was changing into a diverse and demographically society. Individualistic and traditionalistic cultures are the outline of ideology and certainty to the way Texas government is administrated. This has a huge impact on the way the Texas structures its government and why people support such a structure. And Texas is viewed as both subcultures.

For years on end, countries have been fighting with big museums from other countries for ancient artifacts that belong to the original countries. The argument of whether or not the museums should be able to keep them still remains. It is the right of the country to have their own artifacts. It is imperative for countries to be able showcase their historical artifacts, therefor museums should return them to their rightful owners.
For many people, including the characters in the novel “The Septembers of Shiraz”, having certain items or belongings makes them feel special and important, Theses objects they have collected throughout the years prove to themselves that they have done something. Each small item tells a story of when it was collected. It could be a gift from a friend or family member or a travel souvenir from an exotic place. Each thing is a cherished memory and reminds the owner of these special times. The memories are what define the people not the objects. An object that is meaningful to me is a framed silhouette portrait of myself when I was about 5 years old. I still remember being very upset not being able to tell the difference between my picture
