Over the years the league has been filled with amazing head coaches, but the two that stand out the most are Gregg popovich and Phil Jackson. In the article by Alsher it states In his 19 seasons as the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, Gregg Popovich has become one of the most accomplished coaches in the history of the NBA. He has won the NBA Coach of the Year award three times, has a regular season winning percentage of .684, and has led the Spurs to five NBA Championships. Phil Jackson is considered one of the best coaches in NBA history, taking the Chicago Bulls to six titles and the Los Angeles Lakers to three consecutive titles( Erler, 2014).He was also a player in the NBA, the article on biography.com states phil was Born on September 17, 1945, in Deer Lodge, Montana, Phil Jackson joined the NBA in 1967 and won two championships as a player with the New York Knicks. He then earned renown as one of the most successful coaches in NBA history, winning six titles with the Chicago Bulls and another five with the Los Angeles Lakers before retiring in 2011. In 2014, Jackson returned to the NBA as president of the Knicks. Phil also knew how control the egos of of his players and knew when to sit them out or put them in. When he discovered that his stars Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen didn't care for Krause either (to put it kindly), Jackson fed into that to get closer to them ( Erler, 2014). Some people say Phil was a just a good coach because of Jordan, but in the article by Erler it states When Kukoc finally did come over in 1994, during Jordan's baseball sabbatical, Jackson used that to push his star harder and the Bulls surprised everyone by finishing 55-27 even without Jordan.
