To undertake into the realm of medicine and science is to pursue a pathway of boundless discovery; I am in awe of how much humankind was shaped by medical advances, paving the way for better anatomical understanding and new cures. From my early age, I have dependably longed for examining in the Scientist. I have been keen on the science and how it functions. It is very amazing things in the world to learn about the human body. Chemical has always been excited me, as it allows you to investigate deeper into finding out how and why things work in the way they do. From an early age, I was naturally gifted with science, I think my interests developed when we started doing small practical in the school. After my 18th birthday, I completed an Iraqi …show more content…
My decision to continue working in this field has only extended my passion to learn more about how the huge amount of these reactions within the body enable many different systems to work in regular harmoniously. Once I completed NVQ2 course in medicine counter assistance I become interested even more by my personal ambition of being a Pharmacist as I seek to prove people’s daily lives. I am currently volunteering at the Soka Blackmore pharmacy in London. This helped me improve key skills, ordering medication, making sure the stock levels were refilled, communication with customers, also providing for their needs, and ensuring my employers had assurance in my capabilities to keep the customer …show more content…
Also, my current study of pharmaceutical science dgree has permitted me to pick up a range of key skills that can benefit in the future. For example, am able to competently synthesise and analyse information; I have learned essay writing skills; and I have also expanded invaluable communication and interpersonal skills combined with an ability to work as part of a team. I certainly understand handling data and statistic of mathematical philosophies and science to make supportive information about medicines. The experiments in the laboratory in both courses have greatly enhanced my analytical skills and practice. Moreover, made me aware of the precision and accuracy that’s required in controlled reactions. I was the representative for my degree BSc Hons in science course, presenting students’ views about personal issues to course directors and offering possible solutions. Then I gave feedback to the students of my course. Thus, hope I can deliver my passion for these subjects into my permanent
Subsequent to attending a week of chemistry and medicine lectures during the Sutton Trust Summer School programme at St Andrews University and attending master classes at local universities, I know that I am committed to continue with my scientific education. The experience of lectures and the practical investigations in the laboratory have given me an indication of how to analyse and interpret data at such an advanced level. Studying pharmacology would allow me to develop my knowledge to a higher level, learning more about for example how the derivative of the opium poppy, morphine, works by binding to opioid receptors in order to reduce the impulses from nerve cells therefore relieving pain. I would also be able to explore further how high doses of morphine can cause respiratory depression, but more interestingly how these effects can be reversed by a competitive opiate antagonist which can bind to opioid receptors without activating them.
I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward. But more importantly, it facilitates a practical environment in dealing more closely with patients. Hence, it helps to provide the ultimate health care services to patients. Also, it permits me to carry on gaining different knowledge, skills, and values in addition to those I have already developed during my undergraduate studies. My interest in being a clinical pharmacist was first aroused during my SPEP rotation in the hospital setting where I was really impressed with the role of clinical pharmacists who provide a consistent process of patient care with healthcare teams to maintain the appropriateness, effectiveness and safety of the medication use. Unlike a pharmacist, a clinical pharmacist has a more diversified responsibilities and closeness to direct patient care. Moreover, provides
I have admired the work of healthcare professionals and the extent that they go to help their patients get well. As a community health care worker I want to deliver superior patient care and improve the quality of life for all citizens especially in South Texas. Currently, I am a pharmacy technician and have been working in pharmacy for the past 6 years. I attended South Texas College where I received my Associates in Pharmacy and decided to further my career. After receiving my associates, I enrolled back into South Texas College were I also received my Bachelors’ in Medical Health and Service Management. Upon receiving my Bachelor’s, I knew I wasn’t ready to quit. I enjoy being a pharmacy technician but I have this passion that I want to do more for my patients.
My interest in medicine had started out with an enjoyment of science. From general biology to advanced cellular/behavioral neuroscience, the study of the biological systems, especially the most complex of them all, the human body, has been a delightful journey with new discoveries in each new class.
When you ask people what you think when word “pharmacist” come to your mind? They often say pharmacist have to deal with variety of legal drugs. From my personal opinion, when I hear the word “Pharmacist”, I think of helping others. This inspiration came from my Health Science class I took in twelve grade. Until senior year of my high school, I did not know what I wanted to be. But it all changed, after my first shadowing experience at pharmacist station. There I learn about what exactly the pharmacist career is about, what are some of the equipments used in the field and how I can contribute the knowledge I receive here to help others.
I have always been inspired by the workings of chemistry and mathematics. My studies of these subjects have developed my understanding and have made me pursue my interest in these two topics. I want to take up chemistry as it involves a large amount of mathematics which I value and understand to be challenging, yet very enjoyable, as there is always an alternative route to obtain the answer. Additionally, I am drawn to the course because it is a mixture of all these exacting subjects, forming a degree that is very demanding and stimulating. Chemists are constantly thinking of new ways to produce viable drugs containing different isomers to improve the pharmaceutical sector using mathematical equations. Chemistry is about innovation, applying information to new areas and how to do things better than they were before, the degree appeals to and fascinates me.
Careers in the medical field are on the cutting edge of scientific research. New practices and medicines force physicians to stay up to date. I am very passionate about my studies. Pursuing a career that is constantly changing excites me because of the potential for growth and learning throughout. The complexity of medicine also energizes my passion for learning. The difficulty of subject matter permits me to engage my studies and allows me to think critically and creatively.
I successfully completed Pharm D degree from one of the topmost universities of Pakistan, University of Karachi, with a CGPR of 3.766, securing 1st position among the graduating class of 2012.
“An amateur practices until he gets it right; a professional practices until he can’t get it wrong.” by Kenneth van Barthold is a quote that I have come to appreciate in my life. I am not a perfect individual but I know with practice comes efficiency, accuracy and confidence. I learnt this lesson the hard way when I found myself struggling in my pharmacology class. Pharmacology required hours of studying, repetition, re-edition, along with mnemonics and jingles for memorizing drug classes and individual properties. Despite struggling, I began to love pharmacology because it explained how the human body works through physiology, and various ways pharmacology helped to reverse damaging effects of drugs. Learning how drugs interacted in different ways to provide effective
The study of medicines holds immense potential. It is a diverse field with great value in today’s ageing population. Pharmaceutical developments are the pinnacle in the improvement of public health. It was through my work experience that I realised that I want to pursue a career where I can play a key role in improving the quality of life for others, whilst incorporating my scientific knowledge and skills. All of my A-level subjects reflect my interest in pursuing a career in pharmacy.
Although there are many subjects available to further continue as an undergraduate course, the ones which held my attention and enlightened me since the time i was doing A level in Sunway College are just learning Biology and Chemistry. Attending these classes encourage and motivate me to deepen my knowledge and understanding about the nature, the substances that have been discovered and useful therapeutically for living beings, the molecules and cells that made up a human being body with different combinations and the microorganism which causes disease to human and also useful in particular aspects. Various tests and practicals done in both chemistry and biology laboratories made me more enthusiastic to graduate as a biomedical scientist to continue as my career working in the laboratory. My personality and working in laboratory suits very well as i like to handle things in a very appropriate method, settle down in one place and working with other lab technicians to help people. These lead me to a
As I have particularly enjoyed studying biology and chemistry at college, I have developed an ambition to proceed with them to a more advanced level by studying for a degree in biomedical sciences or pharmacy. I believe doing so will be the most appropriate option for me. I want to study biomedical science, as the study of living things at a molecular level genuinely fascinates me and appeals to me. Also because it’s a very fast moving subject and is significant to a lot of major issues facing society, it also recognises that biomedical scientists are greatly involved in the analysis and treatment of many illnesses. Pharmacy is also another option for me as I have enjoyed maths and science and it is a subject where both can be applied.
As a 3rd Year Doctorate of Pharmacy Student, I strive to become a Research Pharmacist. I plan to use my knowledge in chemistry and apply my devotion to helping others, to assist patients in the best manner I know how. This will be done by studying as effectively as I can to ensure I retain all the information and use it to the best of my knowledge. Being raised at the bottom of the poverty line in a family of seven in a single parent home; I have seen several women and children turn down medical care because they lack the funds. Respectfully, peering towards a strong mother cry as they take three buses to get to the one free clinic in town.
At one of meetings for the Pre-Health Association, I was able to speak to a pharmacist who had come in to talk about his profession. He told me of the various things a pharmacist could do, from retail to clinical to nuclear. I learned that there are pharmacists who specialize in personalized medications, who work alongside doctors in hospital settings, and those who develop experimental medications. I decided to help my dad out at the pharmacy, just to get a better understanding of how pharmacy worked from the other side of the counter. In my time there, I saw how people relied on pharmacists not only to distribute their medications, but to help them learn about the medication they take.
Before starting college, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to major in or what career choice was the best for me, but I knew I had a deep passion for science. During my first semester, I took a course in biology and I immediately fell in love with it. I explored many topics in class, like genetics, evolution, and the human body. The more I read and dived into this course, the more ideas and questions popped into my head. I started having an inclination to the field of biology, knowing that it had the right answers to satisfy my thirst.
