Long time ago, passing a story can only by language and writing, but right now many of great stories become stage plays and films, and story can be more lively with images. Also, directors are making conversions for some of the classic stories, like “The Phantom of the opera” and “Beauty and Beast”. These two stories are both nonfiction stories made from French authors. They have kind of similar character setting, which the female charactor is pretty and the male character is ugly. But they are approaching two different styles, “Beauty and Beast” is like a love story, another one is kind of scary. Her father accidentally get in the Beast’s castle, and steal a fllow from the Beast. The Beast was mad, so he imprison Bella’s father. Bella go save her father, and she follow love with the Beast and remove the fateful magic for his castle. In the class we watched two version of the “Beauty and Beast”. One is produce in 1946, it is a black and white film directed by Jean Cocteau and produced by André Paulvé. It is very old and interesting version, because it have no much sound and all the dialog are simple in French. Another one is the most famous version of “Beauty and Beast” was made by Disney at 1991, which is the cartoon version. Disney version of “Beauty and Beast” has very big influence to Broadway musical show, The Disney movie style was cleaned up Broadway Musicals at that time. Also, their song in the movie got a lot of Oscar awards. It is to try to express the praise of inside beauty.
