Have you ever wondered how different our lives would be if it wasn’t for our furry friends? Of course non-dog owners could argue that it wouldn’t make much difference. But what if dogs are the reason why millions of people around the globe have a healthier and happier lifestyle? I know I know… “This sounds so cliché” you might say –but it’s the total truth! These little buddies encourage and motivate us to triumph over the roughest days. (Not all of them are little though. Have you ever been near a Saint Bernard? Those pups are huge!)
As a puppy lover, I strongly believe that dogs are indeed man’s best friend; their unconditional love and the health benefits they provide us with, fairly earn them the top spot on the long list of pets.
My Golden Retriever, Missy, came to me about half a year ago and she has completely changed my life. She is the most energetic and playful dog I’ve ever seen and as sweet as a cupcake (but I don’t want to eat her… even though I’d really enjoy a cupcake right now). I don’t consider her as a pet but as a true friend who is always there for me when I ne...
Have you ever wondered how much it costs to have and maintain a pet? Burkhard Bilger, the author of “The Last Meow”, explains how Americans spend a lot of money on their pets and that people's “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control. An observation I have made is that in many movies dogs are treated very well. When I was younger, I watched a movie called Bratz and one character would always have her dog inside a dog purse and they would even get manicures and pedicures together. The dog always had shiny clothes on and it was always very clean. Therefore, I agree with Bilger's argument that Americans “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control.

Several studies have examined the effects of dog ownership on people's physical and mental health. Dog ownership produces considerable health benefit and provides social support that encourages dog owners to walk (Cutt et al.2007 ). Pet owners appear to have lower systolic blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels(Anderson et al 1992). Pet owners with serious mental illness living in the community demonstrate higher social community integration(Zimalog and Krupa 2009). Socially excluded participants who performed in the presence of a dog report higher mental well-being compared with socially excluded participants who did not work in the presence of a dog (Nilüfer et al 2012). Although there is evidence suggesting that dog ownership can improve people's physical and mental health, there is little research documenting the psychological and behavioral effects of dog-assisted therapy, especially on elderly patients with dementia, who have dif...
Dogs make better pets then cats, because they are nice, loving, protective and playful. Cats on the other hand are mean, lazy, and not so playful with any other animals or humans. When it comes to dogs they do not like to be alone and they like to play with other animals and humans. When a dogs comes to love its owner they begin to make sure that it is safe at all times when the dog is around the human it will protect them. A dog will run and play with you for hours while a cat will just lay around and play with a ball of yarn or sleep. A dog would be a better pet, because they like to be more active then cats.
More than half of American households have a pet and this trend is just spreading more and more. The main reason people are keeping pets is for the companionship that pets offer. Normal household pets, such as dogs and cats, offer people the attention and the feeling of always having a companion by one’s side that people may not get from other humans. Pets nowadays are often treated as a regular member of one’s family and people will spend a lot of money for their pets. In 2014, Americans has spent an estimated $58 billion on their pets along with hours of care for them (Yuhas, 1). Regardless of the type of pets people may choose to have there is always a common emotional bond that ties the human with the animal between all loving pet owners. This emotional bond benefits humans in various ways.
Dogs are common throughout the world, either as a domestic pet, a protector on a farm, or an assistant for hunting amongst others. Regardless of the reason for having a dog, most people have either owned one for themselves or have known somebody who has owned one at some point in their life. Despite the relative normality of having a dog in your life in one way or another, the reasons for dogs coming into existence are not common knowledge among most people. Throughout a great portion of mankind’s history, dogs have been an essential part of life. The truth is, dogs were actually created in part by man.
As the saying goes, a dog is a man’s best friend. The dog is a loving companion to a man. He is happy to go everywhere with his master. He shows his affection for his master by wagging his tail and licking his hand or face. This timeless relationship continues to evolve into new kinds of human-dog interactions that increasingly benefit society.
Thesis Statement: While most owners are aware of the amount of joy and laughter dogs bring to them and their family, they are unaware that their dogs love them unconditionally and can help them have better lives
Many people consider animals as a part of the family. Pets are fun and can be a great addition to many homes. Although, owning an animal can come with many added benefits other than just having a cute and furry friend to play with. People who own pets, may see an increase in their overall quality of life compared to non-pet owners. Pets are a great way to improve the physical, social, and mental health of their owners.
Circuses portray animals as talented and well-behaved beings, but behind closed doors, the animals are placed in pain and misery to perform the demeaning acts. Animals suffer without the publics’ knowledge of such torture. Laws protect these animals but are not sturdy enough to stop the overall sadness of the animals.
Cats or dogs, the debate that has been argued ever since these two animals existed, which one is a better household pet. Dogs are considered to be man’s best friend while cats are independent but are a nice furry companion. The question is why is either one a better choice for a house pet? In this essay we will dive deep into the costs, the companionship, and the behavior associated with cats and dog, allowing you to make an informed decision on which pet is best for you.
Dogs have been a very popular domestic pet amongst people in different countries for many years. The most common reason for people to own a dog is to have a companion to play with, bond with, and to spend time with. Not only are dogs true companions, they are also beneficial to have in terms of health. Most people, including myself, who do own a dog, are not aware of the tremendous impact these dogs have on one’s psychological, physiological and sociological health. In the following research paper I will discuss how dog ownership can help reduce stress related disorders, physiological illnesses and how dogs affect people’s social lives.
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form of medical treatment.
Dogs are wonderful creatures. They are loyal, dependable companions if given the opportunity. In recent years I have come to the opinion that we could learn something from these animals. We should also take a look at the manner in which they are being treated. Abandonment, irresponsible breeding, and neglect are only some of the ways that humans are failing the canine species.
Nowadays, people are busy in their daily life and having a lot of stress from their working area. Most of them would like to have a pet to accompany them in their daily life and also can release the stress that they received. For example, having a dog is a good choice for most people who want to have a pet. Dog not only a very good companions and also having deep emotional tie between people. Dogs will protect the people with literally lay down their lives.
