What is your favorite food or snack? If you're younger you probably said something like chicken, pizza, hot dogs or a burger. In 2008, President Obama was elected as the 44 president of the United States. Married to first-lady Michelle Obama. More recently Michelle Obama wanted to cut junk food completely from U.S schools. President Obama supported her completely and had the job done. In many ways the first lady made the idea clear and put it into effect. Today, in making an effort to stop obesity and help children eat healthier, junk foods are out of U.S schools because of Michelle Obama.
One of my reasons why I thought it is unnecessary to have healthy foods in schools is because it is more expensive for the district to pay for healthy foods. Even though school districts have plenty of money to take care of extra things like healthy foods they could save lots of money that could

Although schools could make it to where healthy foods are the only thing they eat during lunch, healthy foods won’t give as much nutrients as junk foods may. Students get regularly around 20 to 30 minutes to eat their lunch. There have been studies that found that students who get less than 20 minutes to eat their lunch, compared to students who got at least 25 minutes in lunch, got 13 percent less of their entrees and 12 percent less vegetables because they weren’t able to consume their whole lunch. If schools were to have longer lunch periods students would have more time to consume all of their food in order for them to make it through their day without falling asleep in class and being able to stay focused. Wouldn’t you want extra time to socialize with your friends after lunch? The time that students have during lunch to eat is rarely enough time to get their fruits, vegetables, grains, protein and dairy that they need to get them through the
I don't think our school lunch is healthy because it has fat and too much sodium. Although it is good it is fattening it is the reason for much of the obesity in the U.S. Many kids have no other option to eat the unhealthy school lunches or they will be hungry.
Allowing healthier school lunches will decrease obesity in children because it will give them the proper nutrition to reduce the risk of health issues. Since obesity causes many health issues, maintaining a proper nutrition will reduce the risk of health issues. According to Star- Telegram, a daily newspaper that serves Fort Worth and areas of North Texas states, “[School lunches that have] a meal of pizza sticks, a banana, raisins and whole milk has given way to whole wheat spaghetti with meat sauce, a whole wheat roll green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, kiwi and low-fat milk … This change will help more than 2.4 million Texas students who receive a free or reduced- price school lunch to lead healthier, more active lives—in and out of the classroom”(Par. 2 and 4). School lunches are supposed to guarantee students a well balance meal, so they can have the energy to proceed with their classes throughout the day. Meanwhile, students who receive a f...
Imagine living out in the wild alone. No one to rely on, and no where to find help. Quite literally, that was how Chris McCandless lived the adult years of his life. Into the Wild by John Krakauer is a novel that documents the entirety of Chris McCandless’ life. From where he grew up, to when he graduated, all until that fateful day that Chris laid to rest one final time.
This will give us the extra push that's needed so the lunch expansion won't be a problem. You’ll still be getting your education and also being provided with more than enough time to devour your delicious lunch meals. Teachers may think this is a great idea. However, students will not want to read a book or do any assignments in this period of time. The hour of lunch should be about eating and eating only. Reading a book will not harm you what so ever. It will only make you better.
According to the Journal of Law and Health schools that have not banned junk food have had an increase in students more excited to learn because of the sugar count unhealthy foods. Looking at the evidence regarding school lunches from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), students need equal grain and protein proportions to have a healthy daily diet, and over the course of 5 years schools that don't have a healthy lunch program have had their students overall GPA almost completely equivalent to the schools that have had the healthy lunch program. Although having tremendously unhealthy school lunches may not harm your GPA it can immensely harm your health. Lots of average students health are in danger just because of unhealthy school lunches, it is very necessary that schools realize that a healthy lunch program is always a beneficial option. Scientists have found that children who have healthier breakfast and lunch get better grades and have increased brain power. Some evidence points to unhealthy food but healthy food is always the answer in an effective school community. Sometimes unhealthy food is cheaper and tastes better but it can be very costly to your health especially as a
One day you are eating your school lunch and someone yells out that your food is fake. Would you believe them or continue eating? Well the shocking truth is most likely your food is fake. Your school lunch has lower quality criteria then most fast food restaurants. From chicken nuggets to pizza is this food safe to consume. Most schools have fast food stops in the building because of the reduce price meals. But do you still believe the bread stuck between your teeth is real?
I decided to write an editorial for the main reason to persuade people on what childhood obesity is doing to our society and all around the world. Also what my views points and opinions are on this issue. Which this is an issue that is becoming largely spread across the world and is not just a major health issue but also as a large impact on the economy. I wanted to keep this peace quite short and to the point so I decided to develop an editorial which does this nicely. This editorial is targeted to mainly parents that have children which will also have an impact on children since their parents having the correct information on this issue. Throughout this editorial I’m communicating the idea that childhood obesity needs to stop and is an issue which is growing and needs to be dealt with because of the futures generations health.
Looking around, candy, soda water and junk food are in the hands of fellow classmates. Simply walking down the street countless unhealthy food advertisement are seen and influence our choices as they are intended to do. In America, one in three children, about 22 million children, are obese or overweight, and that number is only rising. The government must aid in the fight against childhood obesity and reform the influence of unhealthy food in children’s lives, increase the availability of beneficial foods, mandate physical education, and inform our children of healthy habits.
We should not have longer school lunches. Longer school lunches has a great impact on everyone in school, it makes this issue worse. Students need what is best for them, which they already have. Short school lunches helps improve learning skills and lets students comprehend better. Our lunches are good as they are right now. We should not allow students to leave during school lunch.
News articles and internet blogs are saying that Americans are trying becoming more health conscious, but America ranks thirty-three in the healthies country. Bonnie Liebman, Sarah Federman, and Greg Crister are influential writer on the topic on food. Liebman provides links between health issues with food labeling. Her work talks about the different types of food labeling, and how the FDA fails to regulate on the structure/function claims that food
In today 's world, it 's become blatantly clear that agribusinesses have been unconvincing in the eyes of the consumer. Simply put, Agricultural businesses produce food that is unhealthy and cruel towards animals. we as consumers must select foods that are local/organic. Thus putting pressure on the government to take action! I’ve always been a great supporter in having a sustainable food system that promotes health and protects our environment. Going off the movie, Food Inc, many would agree It 's time to take action towards a healthy structure! There are countless ways to steer ourselves away from such hazard. We can start off simply by requesting/buying local, organic foods at the grocery stores. The latter is something I’ve been practicing/preaching
Today I will be outlining my plan to help education parents and children alike on the dangers of childhood obesity. With this plan I hope to better education parents and children on how to prevent and fight this current health issue. As a parent myself I’m very interested in this topic and help solving this situation. This plan will discuss what childhood obesity how we can help solve this problem. With the proper education I feel we all can make better decisions in our children’s lives as well as our very own.

Healthy and affordable food choices on the go or even just in the store is a huge and worldwide ongoing problem that of course cannot be fixed overnight. To help start and put one foot forward to improvements in the availability of healthy food options and choices in lower income neighborhoods, we as a community and a whole should do the following.
Face it, we have all heard the phrase,"You are what you eat" countless times in your life, but what does that truly mean.
