Persuasive Speech On Pitbulls

When most people see a Pit bull, they think things such as “killer,” “mean,” or “danger!” It is because of this name calling that most Pit bulls are now banned in over half of Kansas. Truth is, Pit bulls aren't actually like that. In fact, they are proven to be among the most loyal and friendly dog breeds. Pit bulls aren't the problem, bad owners, bad publicity and their rough history are.

Dogs are naturally loyal and empathetic creatures. No matter the breed, gender or size, when raised right, all dogs are amazing pets. Except when they aren't raised right. Now, its clear to see the line that separates what is the dog’s behavior, and what is the human’s. Pit bulls are factually proven to be loyal dogs, once nicknamed the “Nanny Dog” for

their fondness of children. Of course, those teeth do have points. Not all people are responsible enough to use the Pit bulls strength for good instead of a quick buck.
In most families, at 6 o’clock we turn on the news.

What do people see? Only the juiciest, most emotion inducing stories. So when a media mogul gets word that a dog with a square face and body has hurt someone or something, they think, Oh! A Pitbull attack! Let me go get my supervisor! One mistake that news crews often make is mislabeling a dog’s breed. Truth be told, there are many bully dog breeds that are often miss classified as a Pit bull.

Of course, Pit bulls were originally bred for guard dogs. Eventually, once the breeds’ special “grip” was developed during the 1800’s, they were shifted over to fighting dogs. The first sport involving Pits was bullfighting. They would place the dog in the ring with a bull and allow the animals to fight until one or the other perished. When it became illegal, the Pit bulls were swapped over to dog fighting. They quickly grew fame in this department for their reluctance to let go of their target.

Yes, Pit bulls were bred for fighting, and yes, they are responsible for quite a number of dog bites. Take a moment to think to yourself, how many times have you been bitten by a Pit bull and how many times have you been bitten by a Chihuahua? It is a common knowledge that little dogs are more aggressive than larger sometimes more dangerous dogs. The reason that little dogs aren't banned for the amount of bites is because they are too small to be doing any damage. Bigger dogs biting and now we have a problem. Sound fair at

all?
Kansas isn't known for being that wild of a state when if comes to law breakers, and there hasn't been as many problems with dog fighting as there has been in more populated states. If the bans on Pit bulls were to be lifted, there would of course be regulations for owners to follow, but at least the breed wouldn't be discriminated against as harshly. Remember, racism is the Pits.
