Hello, I am a Mexican Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources,
I am here today to discuss the effects of manufacturing on Mexico’s air and water supplies. In 1993 the North American Free Trade Agreement, also known as NAFTA, allowed foreign manufactures to relocate their factories to Mexico to take advantage of cheap labor and be able export their products tax free back to the USA and Canada.
NAFTA has no enforceable standards, so pollution levels, mainly in the cities, are climbing an enormous rate. If NAFTA is not changed and new laws are implemented enforcing polluters to clean up, many of the major cities in Mexico will become inhabitable. Many more people will die due to toxic air pollution. As of June 2015, every year 20,000 plus civilians die due to air pollution alone. Mexico City, the Capital, is one of the largest cities in the world with more than 20 million people being exposed to multiple toxic chemicals every day. Ozone, sulfur dioxide, ammonium dioxide and other nitrogen oxides, are pumped into the atmosphere by the factories.

When these factories shut down they leave hazardous waste behind, that later contaminates water supplies. The US has been stepping in with financial support to clean up the waste because the manufacturers aren't doing their part. Thomas Konner, who is an EPA environmental engineer says: “Diseases don't recognize borders” meaning that if we don't do our part and put in regulations that factories cannot release toxic poisons into the air and water, we will not only be killing our people but we will be responsible for our boarding country’s as
1. According to Pizarro, “Chicanas and Chicanos face the highest dropout rates of any major ethnic group in the United States- as many as half of a given cohort of Chicana and Chicano students does not complete high school- and their relative educational outcomes have been stable or have worsened over time.” (Pizarro, 1).
Picture a stunning sandy beach, waves lapping on the shoreline and the sun setting on the horizon creating a breathtaking atmosphere. The never-ending golden sand stretching as far as the eye can see. This is Australia.
Physician Outmigration —Unfortunately there is a great outmigration of physicians because they the lack of funding. According to NPR, It comes to no surprise that according to NPR, in 2016, at least one doctor a day leaves the island
Did you know America is a nation built on immigrants? (Schwartz,2017). Immigration is a very popular topic right now and it's important to talk about it. Keeping innocent people out of our country based on fear is not right. Immigrants and terrorists are two different words, but some people may believe it is one. It is not right to keep immigrants out of our country based on religion, gender, or ethnicity. My reasons are immigrants are in need of help, we need to stick to our values, and they make a contribution to America. As you keep reading you will understand why.
It is my honor to speak before the House of Representatives and Senate and officially state that Mexico and the United States have signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This treaty ends the Mexican-American War as Mexico has agreed to cede all regions that rightfully belong to the United States of America. The Mexican-American War started in April of 1846 and ended yesterday in February of 1848. I consider the war against Mexico as a conflict that largely benefited the United States. President James Polk and all of my fellow US Congressman were reasonable and justifiable to dictate that Mexico obstructed and interfered with the freedom and rights of the citizens in our beautiful nation, specifically in Texas. The Mexican general, Santa Anna, sent troops to invade one of the Union’s state, Texas, and the act is clearly an attack against the United States. In this speech, I will address to the critics of the war the facts, reasons and my clarifications to justify that the United State’s action to declare war against Mexico was reasonable.
While many people consider Mexico well a bad place to live in or visit, in really Mexico is a beautiful country with really interesting history and culture. With many states and cities as options, I’ve decided to to my informative speech on its capital, Mexico City.
When things go downhill in your life, you tend to only focus on what you’re going through and completely ignore the fact that many others could be going through the same exact thing. It’s not easy to accept that other people are feeling the same pain as you. Something goes wrong, it’s like the end of the world for you. That was me at the age of 9.
We live in a nation that has been called the land of opportunities, a nation that was developed on the hands, sweats and hard work of many people. These same people are those who are from here but are poor, or who come here for a better life and migrated from other countries some by force and others by choice. We live in a country that many look at immigrants as if they are different from the rest, what makes them different is how they speak or dress. At the end of it all we are all humans and they should not be considered to be call illegal immigrants. What is so illegal about that is the question to ask, and why it is that one word is the one to define someone’s character of who they are. One piece of paper is what define who we are in this
In reality, there are many more pollutants that we don't think about every day. The six most common air pollutants are; “Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen oxides, Sulphur oxides, Particulate matter, Volatile organic compounds, and Ground-level ozone (nitrogen oxide and Volatile organic compounds reaction)”(David Suzuki Foundation). The fact is people are dying from air pollution and we are doing nothing to make it better, in fact air pollution is getting worse. In order to see the problem with pollution, we need to see the current facts and compare them to the estimated facts if we continue on the path we are heading on today. “In 2008, 21,000 Canadians died from the effects of air pollution.
Thanks for commenting. I agree with many of you points, however I do not believe that immigrants are taking the jobs of able Americans. Farm work, gardening, and other labor intensive jobs are not be filled by U.S. citizens (possibly having to do with low wages), so why would it be an issue if these immigrants decided to work in these fields? In addition to this, refugees can create their own businesses, so this doesn’t necessarily take jobs away from American workers. Unfortuanely there are many unemployed Americans, however in many cases, it is a matter of multiple applications and having the right skills. If people are not qualified for the job, then obviously it should be given to someone with the proper credentials. If immigrants have these skills then why wouldn’t a company want to hire them, versus someone who is lacking the specific background and or education?
Immigration reform is one of the most active and discussed topics right now in American Politics. Mr. Speaker, you are being presented with a unique opportunity to embrace and lead the charge in this reform. The United States is a nation of immigrants. It was built and carried by people who migrated all over the world because they believed in the American Dream. The American Dream is not dead, and immigrants can and will continue to be an incredible positive side to this beautiful nation. But the truth remains, Immigration policies are incredibly outdated and xenophobic. As a nation, America is turning back not only on its foundation and history, but on its future as well. It is not too late to change this. America can return to the being the nation that embraces the tire and the poor and the ones yearning to breathe free. I urge you to aggressively pursue bipartisan Immigration reform this year with or without majority support from The Republican Party. It is a pressing issue that can determine whether The United States continues to be the dominant force in the world. Mr. Speaker you should pursue this immigration reform because Republicans need the support from the immigrants in future elections, it presents a viable platform to fix the issues with illegal immigration, and it can provide a better, more efficient way, to handle immigration in the future.
If you are an immigrant or just want to live in one of the best counties in the world illegally, with no penalty if you get caught come to Americana. They will welcome you with open aims Just like (Fred Reed) – said in “Why Blame Mexico” (we say to impoverished Mexicans, “See this river? Don’t cross it. If you do, we’ll give you good jobs, driver’s licenses, citizenship for your kids born here, school for said kids, public assistance, governmental documents in Spanish for your convenience, and a much better future. There is no penalty for getting caught. Now, don’t cross this river, hear?” How smart is that? We’re baiting them. It’s like putting out a salt lick and then complaining when deer come. Immigrant parents would be irresponsible not
Air Pollution in Mexico City Mexico City adds an estimated one million new residents each year, resulting in one million new additions to the city’s already abominable air quality (Collins, 119). Over the span of a generation, Mexico City’s air has gone from being one of the world’s cleanest to one of the world’s most polluted, as well as the most polluted in its country. The average visibility in the city is down from almost 100 km in the 1940s to only 1.5 km today, removing the once beautiful landscape of the surrounding snow-capped volcanoes (Yip, 1). More significantly, however, Mexico City’s air problems have resulted in a notable decrease in the health of its residents, particularly its children. There are a variety of reasons for the decline in air quality, including factory emissions, suspended particles, vehicles, as well as problematic geographic hindrances.
“I am, somehow, less interested in the weight, and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived, and died in cotton fields, and sweatshops.”- Stephen Jay Gould. Sweatshops exploit people, and children. They take advantage of their poverty, and there need, for a better life. Sweatshops are one of the worst things that ever happened to the business world, and poor people around the world. Sweatshops should be stopped, and ended.
