It is natural for a society to be concerned for the future generations. With the rate of obesity growing in adults and children, many begin to see it as an issue that needs to be addressed. New reports show “ childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years” (cdc.gov). Overweight and obese are not actually the same. Overweight is defined as “having excess body weight for a particular height from fat,” and obesity is defined as “having excess body fat” (cdc.gov). With obesity comes the chance for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Both can be

A 2012 study from the England University of Leicester showed that prolonged sitting was also linked to a greater risk of death from all causes. Exercising has become a norm in our society today with things such as gyms opening, vegan diets, and even television programs, but as of early 2018, 80% of adults don't get the recommended amount of exercise. I believe that exercise is important and everyone should participate in trying to improve their health. Just think about it and it might surprise you.

On top of that, I was only getting 5 hours of sleep and not eating appropriately to refuel my body. I know stupid right? I am human and I am not perfect!

Fitness education is the focus of helping your students achieve the knowledge and understanding of physical fitness. As a Phys ED teacher, our job is to promote a healthy lifestyle, and to get our students to live a physically active life that they choose to be a part of. This is our main goal, and this can 't be done if all we are doing is having our students simply run laps, as well as having a once a year testing that tells kids they are not fit, and test norms for comparisons. When we do this, we are not encouraging students to choose to be physically active, especially the ones that do not play sports. In many cases it is very evident that some students are not physically active, so when we do have meaningless testing and the idea of just
I believe that fitness has a greater impact on you mentally than it does physically. Fitness releases chemicals that cause you to feel better instantaneously, improving mood for 24 hours. Fitness makes you more confident and improves your self-esteem, key for ridding anxiety and depression. Fitness makes you set goals for yourself, motivating you to improve yourself everyday. It gives you a boost of energy after, making you feel like you can conquer the world, or to just do your homework.
A lot of people can call me insane, but I love working out; I also love nutrition—most of
Exercising is too over rated. It’s not as healthy as it’s cracked up to be. All it does is make you tired as you go through and finish what you have done. You waste all your time going to the gym or watching what you eat, while you could very much be enjoying a movie on the old television while chewing on a delicious piece of pizza. Why eat all that junk that is “healthy”, what’s really bad about “junk food”? Is there anything wrong with enjoying yourself? No, there is nothing wrong at all. I believe you should have the chance to make all of your own decisions and to do whatever it is that you want. Why eat a small bowl of cereal, when you really want a second helping? Why run for a half hour to lose what you just ate, only to gain it back to do the same thing. If you just eat whatever your body is telling you that you want, you’ll be fine. That’s why our body has what we call metabolism. This helps to maintain weight and to keep you in shape, right? Damn straight! So for all those who are out there right now, reading this and thinking that it’s ok to be fat, sure it is. Although, I must say that, being too fat is no good. You are the people who probably should waste your time and money on something so stupid that you don’t even gain anything over the whole time you do it. Hell, you could be on a program for about two years, lose twenty pounds and feel great. I’d love to do that, but you know what that does later in life? That weight you lost then comes right back, it didn’t do you any good losing that weight in the long run. All that is going to happen is that you are going to turn out to be one of those really fat people we see on the news that is crying about not being able to take care of themselves and not being in good care. Screw them, why be like them, be your own person, the only healthy eating is eating at a fulfilling rate. So, next time you go to watch a show and a commercial comes on about some stupid, super duper, weight lose programs...I want you to call it.
In the United States over seventy percent of adults are considered to be overweight. Maintain a healthy weight. "Determine whether you are overweight by checking your body mass index. We often make new year resolutions but often give up shortly a couple days later, why? Once upon a time I was tall and thin and on the outside all evidence pointed to a much healthier version of myself. I was thin, I exercised 3 or 4 times a week and did everything I knew to do to maintain my weight and keep my physical body in good shape. There are times I look at myself in a photo and I barely recognize that person from 20 or even 10 years ago.
I won’t ask who has gained this weight, but by a raise of hands, how many of you have thought to yourself, “Are my jeans getting tighter?”
