Introduction: Introduce Core Concerns
1. Attention Getter: Besides oxygen, water is the most important element for anything to live on the earth. 450 billion gallons of water are used every day in the US alone. However, less than 1% of treated water is actually consumed. The rest of the 99% is used for washing machines, dishwashers, sprinklers, toilets, pools, and countless other things.
2. Establishment of Ethos: We live in a country where we are fortunate enough to not even have to worry about getting access to water. So much so that clean water is something that we definitely take for granted. All water in the US has been cleaned to some extent. We can drink our hose water or even pool water and not get sick…or not that sick. In reality, 780 million people lack access to clean water. That’s 2.5 times the amount of people in America!
3. Thematic Statement: Today, I will like to persuade you to conserve water in any way you can and to be aware of how fortunate we are to have water compared to other parts of the world. First I will first give you and over view of the issue at hand. Then I will tell you ways that you can help make a difference. And finally I will inform you of the many actions that various organizations are taking to solve this problem.
Body:
1. Main Point 1: Overview of the Issue and statistics
a. As many of you may know, 2013 has set the record for the driest year in California history and this drought has continued into 2014.
b. Obviously, farmers are feeling the effect first hand. Many fields of crops are dry because farmers are being forced to bring in reserve water as a substitute of the runoff they normally take from snowcaps.
c. We, as consumers, we can feel the effect indirectly. Since less crops are...

1. Summary: Without water, there is no way that life would be sustainable on this planet. It is without a doubt our most valuable resource.
2. Review: So today, I brought to light just how serious this water drought is, what we as individuals can do to reduce the problem, and what many organizations are doing to promote awareness and find more efficient ways of using water.
3. Tie to the Introduction: Many organizations are working to spread awareness of the issue so that people will conserve water in small ways in their own life. If each of us just takes a few minutes less in the shower or doesn’t just poor old water down the drain, imagine how much water we could be saving.
4. Creative Conclusion Thought: Benjamin Franklin once said, “When the well is dry, we know the worth of the water.” Let’s all do our part to make sure that well is never dry.
This film was presented beautifully and was able to appropriately discuss all forms of water issues our world is having from shortages to contaminations to possible solutions. The filmed opened up with the city of Las Vegas, Nevada and how they have used up so much water that at the time the
The California water drought has been declared a crisis by the governor of California. 2013 was the driest year on record, and California could be running out of water. Californians should be water wise, and their use, or no use, of water will have an enormous impact on this drought. They can use the techniques published in a recent Time article called, 5 Ways to Bust California’s Drought, to reduce their water use. Landscape techniques, alternate water sources, and the personal conservation of water can reduce the use of water, and can have a positive change on this water crisis.
Introduction on Water It covers 70% of our planet, makes up 75% of our body, it is necessary for survival and it is declining at a rapid rate (http://www.sscwd.org). It is water. Unfortunately, clean water is rare, almost 1 billion people in developing countries do not have access to water everyday. “Yet, we take it for granted, we waste it, and we even pay too much to drink it from little plastic bottles” (The Water Project). Use of earth’s natural resources should be seen as prosperity, although it is taken for granted, every aspect of daily life revolves around the environment, forcing water conservation to be necessary for future on this planet.
We often hear the saying that water is the source of life so how can mankind waste this precious source that God has given us. A fine example was mentioned in the film about India’s new green agricultural system where 30 times more water is been use than the actual amount required. It is really hard to see how these farmers are spitefully wasting water when it is really needed in the neighboring communities. This goes to show that people only do things to benefit themselves not considering the needs of other people. Not only is water being wasted in developing countries but there is also water wastage in developed countries we often take our water sources for granted here in the US such as not turning off the pipes when brushing our teeth or washing our hands and the list goes on. Water conservation is the key to saving our planet because soon it will become extinct to us human beings.
Water has become a very controversial issue in the United States and around the world. As populations increase and resources decrease, the way we use our resources and keep populations safe become more and more important. Throughout the world there are nearly 1.1 billion people who do not have access the clean drinking water. 5 Most of these 1.1 billion people are located in poor areas and do not have the financial means to build the infrastructures needed to provide water to the citizens of their country. 5 Drinking water is an essential part of our everyday life. People must have water to survive, but it must be clean and safe to consume.
Even though the water crisis is prevalent mainly in women and children, it is still affecting people all over the world. Because most of the children spend most of their day getting water, they don’t have time to go to school. About 160 million children get sick every year because they don’t have clean drinking water. Every ninety seconds a child dies because they didn’t have clean water. There is about one trillion dollars needed to fix the water crisis, and there is only about 8 billion dollars a year donated to this cause.
The rainfall levels according to the San Francisco Chronicle are way down this year in California due to the drought, for example in San Francisco the rain level has been about 8.5 inches and the normal level of rainfall for this time of y...
Thesis: It is very important to know that California drought leaves many bad effects on our community and environment by causing the plants, animals, electricity, and we humans.
...cts us and everything around us, and what it takes to get clean drinking water. In addition I have also given examples of organizations that raise money to help people obtain clean water. We can’t take clean water for granted, because everything around us including us, needs clean water in order to survive and to work. I have talked about how if we are able to end the clean water crisis, we are able to focus on other global problems such as world hunger and economic problems. Once we are able to focus on other things we may be able to work on technology that will allow us to make more water in to clean drinking water to accumulate to our increasingly growing population. In conclusion clean drinking water and clean water in general is a very vital part of our lives and our world. We would not be here if it wasn’t for water, and we need to keep our water clean.
As of this year, nearly 1.1 billion people live without clean drinking water and 2.6 billion live without adequate water sanitation. The McDonald's down the street, however, will sell you a 1/3 pounder burger for only 150 gallons. Changes in lifestyle can easily reduce this number and help not only save water, but money as well. Currently, with our diminishing water supply, one of the main goals of humanitarian organizations is ensuring that everyone has the right and equality to water. With global access to water, it reduces the responsibility for political tension between countries fighting to literally stay alive.
Freshwater is quite scarce, but it is even scarcer than one might think: about seventy percent of all freshwater is frozen in the icecaps of Antarctica and Greenland and is unavailable to humans. Most of the remainder is present as soil moisture or lies in deep underground aquifers as groundwater. It is not economically feasible to extract this waster for use as drinking water. This leaves less than one percent of the world’s fresh water that is available to humans. It includes the water found in lakes, reservoirs, groundwater that is shallow enough to be tapped at an affordable cost. These freshwater sources are the only sources that are frequently replenished by rain and snowfall, and therefore are renewable. At the current rates of consumption, however, this supply of fresh water will not last. Pollution and contamination of freshwater sources exacerbate the problem, further reducing the amount of freshwater available for human consumption. Something must be done if humans want to even survive in the near future: the lack of clean drinking water is already the number one cause of disease in the world today. The first step is worldwide awareness of the water crisis: governments and the citizens they govern worldwide need to know about this problem and be actively involved in solving this problem.
Water is the most priceless resource on our planet. Billions of gallons flow through our rivers and lakes. Millions of gallons are consumed by humans each day. Our world’s surface is seventy percent water. With so much water around us, how can 1.1 billion people still lack access to clean water (Cooper, Water Shortages)? People are already using fifty four percent of all the freshwater available on this planet (Cooper, Water Shortages). We cannot afford to neglect something so essential to our very survival. We must defend our most important natural resource—water.
„X Encourage household water security by making enough water of adequate quality available year-round to ensure family survival, health and productivity, without compromising the integrity of the environment.
Water is our main source of our life. We need it to live, drink, bathe,
The United States of America is founded on the idea that all men and women are created equal with certain unalienable rights. These are the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Americans are confused on what to prioritize: making a profit for personal happiness or the unalienable right to life. Water is a necessity for life. Therefore, clean water is a right that has been taken advantage of, and used as a commodity.
