Persuasive Speech On Aliens

One second the Earth may be causally orbiting around the sun, functioning normally, and the next it could be sucked into a rogue black hole, without anyone even knowing until it is too late. In our small world, mankind may seem powerful and unstoppable. However, in the bigger picture, they are just another speck on some tiny planet, somewhere in the middle of the universe. The real question is, what if they weren’t just specks on one tiny planet, but were specks on two planets, Earth, and Mars? On September 28, 2015, scientists from NASA (North American Space Agency) confirmed that liquid water flows on Mars today. Although they discovered water on Mars, it is only in the form of ice and snow. While finding signs of liquid water on today’s …show more content…

The species from the Ice Age, Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous time periods are all examples of this. So what is stopping this cycle from repeating itself? What is stopping all of the humankind from going extinct? Is it their sheer population, or their intelligence? Neither of these could stop an asteroid from hurtling into Earth, even in this day and age. If an asteroid of 10 km or wider were to hit the Earth, like it is theorized to have 65 million years ago, all life on Earth would end. Even if some people miraculously manage to survive the impact of the asteroid, the aftermath would certainly kill the rest. The effect of an asteroid of that size hitting the Earth would be, fire storms, severe tsunamis, and a nuclear winter. This nuclear winter would be caused by the dust and debris thrown into the atmosphere, from the impact causing the sun to be blocked for decades until the dust finally settles back down. However, if humankind was also already colonized on Mars the human race would survive, and after the clouds of dust settle back down and Earth becomes safe to live on once again. The human race would send people from Mars to Earth to repopulate …show more content…

There are many reasons to it, such as its accessibility, and the most important; its habitability. Mars is one of the closest planets to Earth, only taking 18 months to reach there with the technology of this day and age. Compared to the time it takes to travel to other planets in our solar system, such as Jupiter, 18 months is a minuscule time period. The other issue is that Mars is the only other habitable planet in our Solar System, other than the planet Earth. According to Elizabeth Howell, the most Habitable Planet discovered is Kepler-186f. This planet is Earth-sized and is in the habitable zone of its host star. The downside is that Kepler-186f is located 490 million light years away from Earth. Mars is also habitable for humans. It has an atmosphere, frozen water, and has enough gravity to keep humans on the surface of Mars. Aside from the frozen water located on Mars, it was confirmed by Nasa on September 28, 2015, that liquid water flows on Mars today. Mars is the most habitable planet in this solar system, it is located not too far away from the sun, and not too close to the sun either. Mars also has enough gravity to keep us on ground. There may be other planets that are more habitable than Mars or closer than Mars, but they may be non-habitable for humans, or too far away from Earth. In short Mars is the clear
