Al Gore says global-warming skeptics are a group diminishing almost as rapidly as the mountain glaciers. ( Michael Shnayerson) Global warming is the gradual rise of the Earth 's surface temperature thought to be caused by the greenhouse effect. Today I will be discussing with you a growing environmental issue known as global warming including its cause, effect, and solutions. First I will explain what causes global warming. Then I will highlight the effects of global warming. As a final point, I will discuss different solutions for it. I would like to begin by informing you what causes global warming. II. Global warming is caused by greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to global warming. The evidence is overwhelming that the Earth
Environmentalist say, evaporates moisture from wet land, leading to more precipitation. An effect of this is it observes what little moisture the dry land produce. Since 1970 global warming temperature has increase about 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit. The warmer the air the more water it contains. U.S. overall prediction from l900’s has increased, however; in the last 35 years, in has increase by 7 percent. Rain has increase up to l4 percent and heavy rainfall has gone up to 20 percent. For example when the news procast announces it will be slight rain in reality it has been seen that it usually the opposite which it end up raining even harder. In the other hand, there are certain areas in the Midwest that are seen an Dry areas which are part of the U.S. mainly located in the Southwest, where it become drier. The reason for this is because the warm air pulls up what little moisture there is in the soil, and your able to see more droughts. (Shnayerson, Michael). Global warming is causing the ocean atmosphere to warm up than usual even though oceans already seem to have stireed tropical hurricanes of great intensity and duration than I the past. If global warming continue; ocean storms will increase dramatically. As a result of warming, the entire eco-system of the North Sea is in a state of "ecological meltdown."
There are couple solutions for global warming, one solution is to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by doing so it can decrease the climate change we see today. "The planet can be cooled a whopping 0.5 degrees C with fast action to reduce air pollution from coal-fired power plants, gas fracking, diesel trucks and biomass burning, recent studies show." (Leahy, Stephen). However; some argue that taking action toward climate change in the United States will be expensive and harmful, however; this is a big issue that needs to be address as soon as possible. Unfortunately, claims that change the facts delay the appropriate evaluation of policy options. This can cause an expensive policymakers, procedures, and policies that can harm hardworking American families and causes little decrease of global carbon emissions. Obama administration 's decision has delay and perhaps deny, the Keystone XL pipeline which is a primary example. There are many interventions to slow down climate change. For example artificial trees which can imitator the photosynthesis of a real tree by being able to observe carbon dioxide out of the air. This is possible if Washington and other capitals will help spur the market for such carbon-capture technology. Carbon-capture technology should be further implemented in order to combat looming climate change and global warming. (Christian Science Monitor) A potential method of geoengineering that would reduce global temperatures through the
Climate Change is costing the world millions of dollars and is the biggest issue facing society today. Climate change is causing greenhouse gases to build up, ice caps to melt, etc. Some people believe climate change is not a big issue. For instance in the article “Gospel of The Climate Change Deniers” it is stated, “Barton a guy who called Al Gore ‘totally wrong’ about global warming and advised people to get shade to adapt to rising temperatures” (Kroll). Although, this is an appealing mindset, it is illogical because climate change has many more effects than just warmer temperatures. For example, Frank Ackerman: an economist known for his work in environmental economics and Dr. Elizabeth A. Stanton an environmental economist and
...An analysis from 1998 states that higher global temperatures may increase the rate of evaporation from the land, which adds moisture to the air, and results in much more severe storms and flooding. In other words, global warming is a potential factor in how severe and long El Niño will be.
The subject of global warming is as popular as the president. These both topics have always been hot subjects in everyday life. Global warming is the biggest storm headed in our way. It is also the most important issue of our times. Those ads or public service announcement on TV about global warming might not be the most attractive but the cause behind it is very important. Global warming is one of the major threats our planet is facing. Most scientists prove the fact that global warming is mainly caused by human activities rather than natural cycles. To simplify it, most mechanisms that we use are affecting earth. These mechanisms are created by humans. Therefore, humans are affecting earth.
B. Global warming is better defined as the increase in the average temperature of the
II. Main Point 1: To everyone global warming is when the earth is getting warmer. But why is the temperature in our planet increasing?
My parents grew up in small town in Mexico. There was a little river that went through part of the town when they were growing up. Every weekend or so they would go out and would go swimming with their families, it almost became a tradition to go swimming there until they noticed that the river 's water level was becoming smaller and smaller. Today there is no river anymore, instead it 's a road that travels through the town. Every time I visit my family in Mexico it would alway be nice and warm up until this year when I went in December. I remember waking up and getting ready to go to my aunt 's house in clothes for warm weather. As I open the door, the cold air punch me and I saw snowflakes falling down. It 's not supposed to snow in that
The Earth is currently locked in perpetuating spiral of climate change. While the global climate has unarguably been changing since the dawn of it's manifestation, the once steadied ebb and flow of climate change has become increasingly more unpredictable. The risk of rising sea levels, and drought plaguing the fresh water supply, during the time that flooding and sporadic storm conditions turn once fully inhabited regions into uninhabitable death traps. Climate change catalyzed by human's increased production of carbon dioxide, is more noticeable than ever in our recorded history (United States, 2014 National Climate Assessment). Thankfully however, with the changing weather conditions due to carbon related emissions, the change in public opinion about their personalized influence on climate change is also increasing. Kevin Liptak Jethro Mullen, and Tom Cohen note that In reaction to the most recent governmental report on climate change, even the U.S. government believes that a stronger approach needs to be taken to correct our self-generated cataclysm.
The polar regions are most affected and vulnerable to the warming temperatures because the poles are covered in ice. The world’s ice sheets are melting faster than ever and temperatures in the Arctic region are rising twice as fast as anywhere else on Earth according to the NRDC. This will have a serious impact on people, wildlife and plants in that region. The National Climate Assessment has said that “By the year 2100, it 's estimated our oceans will be one to four feet higher, threatening coastal systems and low-lying areas, including entire island nations and the world 's largest cities, including New York, Los Angeles, and Miami as well as Mumbai, Sydney, and Rio de Janeiro”. Polar bears are in great threat as the ice sheets melt because they use the ice to travel across the land and hunt. As the sea-ice platforms move further apart, the swimming conditions become more dangerous. The U.S Geological Survey done by the National Wildlife Federation predicts that by the year 2050, two thirds of all polar bears will disappear. Researcher Bill Fraser has tracked the Adelie penguins in Antarctica and reported the numbers have fallen from 32,000 to only 11,000 over the last 30
In recent years global warming has been on the rise. The importance of this issue is so that we as a nation can be aware of the drastic changes which are occurring rapidly around the world. Although there isn 't one set resolution to solve climate change, we must continue to carry out ways to put it to a halt. Some of the ways I believe we can cut this crisis is to stop polluting the manufacturing of toxic gases which is filling our environment with smog. If we all put our ideas and opinions in ways to prevent some causes of climate change, the world in which we live will be a better place. Instead of being a part of the problem we can be a part of the solution. Opposed to just humans, animals, and other species are affected as a result of

Global warming has become on of the most controversial issues in the media today. While most of the Western world countries have generally accepted the premise that man's chemical emissions in the atmosphere can and are affected by the world’s climate patterns, in the United States, the issue has become so politicized with many republicans challenging the science behind the theory. Global warming is a greenhouse effect whereby gases are trapped on the earth’s surface causing it to heat up (Maslin 14). It is based on the worldwide temperature records that have been maintained by human beings through their activities since the 1880,s. In addition, global warming is not only caused by human activities only but also through climate changes in solar radiance. The problem is that, humans continue to contribute to the global warming phenomenon. All citizens should work in reducing human activities that cause global warming and also support the development of nuclear power. Scientists deem that, global warming is mainly caused by human activities which accelerate the natural process by creating greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Human activities have become a great contribution to the greenhouse effect and this means that climate changes are inevitable. They further argue that, if these activities continue and are not reduced, it will lead to more trapping of energy radiated from the earth and this will likely lead to extreme weather and global warming. Global warming should be at reduced levels or else, it will be catastrophic.
While this may contain some truth, most believe that the causes of aerosol, fossil fuels, and the greenhouse effect are the reasons for global warming. These causes can easily be reduced if we take the time and effort to halt the action. Simple actions can be made that will not have a severe effect on our everyday lives. Al Gore once said, "The good news is, we have everything we need now to respond to the challenge of global warming. " We have all the technologies we need, more are being developed but we should not wait, we cannot wait, we must not wait.”
Of all the effects of global warming, the extreme weather that is taking place all over the world is the most obvious one. Global warming will bring more heat waves, drought, fiercer wildfires and stronger hurricanes. “This intensification of weather and climate extremes will be the most visible impact of global warming in our everyday lives” (75 yrs NWF). Due to rising temperatures, places everywhere will be affected as we get more extremely hot summer days and lesser winters. In addition, as these rising temperatures shifts the cycle of rain and increases evaporation, there will be longer and drier droughts which in turn can lower the water supply for life everywhere. Wildfires can turn out to be even more catastrophic due to warmer temperatures and drier areas combined with accumulated levels of fuel loads in the forest which has built up as a result of decades of fire suppression activities. Moreover, stronger hurricanes are also an effect of global warming as sea levels are rising and heavier rains are falling near the coasts. Overall, global warming is bringing climates that are changing real fast.
In conclusion, global warming is a slow and gradual process that is affecting our lives day by day. Some think of it as a myth, but now everybody can see and feel the climate change every year. Human beings are the prime cause of the global warming, so it is our responsibility to minimize it. Many environmentalists and nature protecting organizations such as the NRDC (Natural Resource Defense Council) have done various research on global warming and have come up with many ideas to prevent it. There are several creative ideas to stop global warming, and some of them have promises, for example, saving money while saving the environment.
Everyone should be knowledgeable about global warming and the dangers that it brings to our planet. This essay will examine Global warming is the gradual rise in temperature and oceans due to recent human activity. This is created by the production of too much carbon dioxide that is released into the earth’s atmosphere.
