I believe that sports are good for kids while they are in school although sports can be dangerous many people will agree that sports will help kids keep their grades up. Sports will also teach kids how to work with other kids.Sports will also teach kids that life will have its ups and downs while they may win every game they will one day learn that if you don’t work as a team they will never succeed in life.The team can come together as one if they learn that it's all about working together to accomplish anything life puts ahead of u, even if the guy is bigger or faster than you, you shouldn't just give up on your team.
Although these are all good reasons to play sports kids should play so that they will lead the importance of good health.The coaches will put an end to soda and try and make the kids follow a strict diet.If the kids follow the diet they will be as excited as they will be to say they are living a healthy life.This will also lead to them living a longer life than kids who have never tried sports

Kids will learn that sports will keep them out of trouble and will help them by not allowing them to have too much time to be running around and doing stuff their parents would not approve of. Even though most kids will say they are hanging around the right group of friends well a study shows that 50% of kids will be hanging around with the wrong crew and get themselves into trouble. The arguments make people, think again about having students play sports. Sports are useful because they give players skills they can use on and off the field: strength, leadership, and confidence.

In our current time, kids have no independence in sports, everything is parent run, with the intentions of the parent trying to have their kids win and become elite superstars. Atkinson writes in an article that in his home town of Methuen Massachusetts he and all the other kids in his town used to organize all the sports, and parents would help cover the financial part, but the sport itself was directed by the kids, the way youth sports should be run, for the interest of the kids. According to University of Missouri Health Care, “Sports require memorization, repetition, and learning - skill sets that are directly relevant to class work.”(muhealth). Not only do sports help them become better students, but they also prepare them both mentally and physically and teach them multiple life lessons that will better them in the long run. The great thing about sports is that anyone can participate as long as they have the passion for it.

This is the thirtyth straight year that football is the most popular sport and thirty-five percent of fans call football their favorite sport. That is more than one fourth of football fans in America. This is also one of the common topics in 2016 right now. Would you let your kids play football? Many people think that youth kids should play football. Kids should play football because it is a good source of exercise, kids can get a scholarship and football teaches good life skills.
For some people sports is just a game, to athletes it is their life. According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) an athlete can only participate in their own school’s sports or club sports (OHSAA). This means at New Knoxville Local School, my school, my brother or any other athlete won’t be able to play football while attending school at New Knoxville. My intention is to make it possible to go to school at one place, but play sports at another school.
For example, kids can get a concussion playing sports and might get affected by this their whole life. But I believe that youth competitive sports are good for kids because they learn important life lessons. For example, they can learn how to be a leader which is an important skill to have in today’s world, they can also learn how to work as a team to accomplish things that wouldn’t be possible to do as an individual. This is shown in source 2 when it says, “ Playing sports prepares a leader to influence others, set realistic goals and solve problems efficiently to win a competitive advantage”(Duggan 4). This means that sports help kids become better leaders by teaching them to set goals for themselves and by helping them become better problem solvers, both of these skills are needed if you want to be a good leader.
According to statistics gathered by youth sports organizations, “Up to 50 million kids play youth sports in America, and 73 percent of those who begin playing a sport quit before they turn 13” (Binns). The children could have quit because they did not like the disappointment of losing, or because they are exhausted from their parents pushing them too hard. But parents have their reasons for pushing their children into sports. “Studies show that kids who play sports are less likely to become obese, abuse drugs or alcohol or to perform poorly in school” (McCormick). If children are not active, then they will most likely become overweight, and if they have nothing to do in their pastime, they may turn to drugs and alcohol, which usually leads to a decrease in grades in school.
Sports can help many at- risk youths. In order to participate in sports you need to be committed and willing to work hard. You also have to learn to respect others and accept that winning isn’t the only measure of success. Losing can build character as well. When youth participate in a sports they enjoy, they are less likely to engage in behaviors that are harmful or dangerous to themselves and others. It is for these reasons schools should strive to maintain athletic programs for their students.
Many would disagree with me and say that high school sports actually have more benefits than negativities for a student. For example a student in sports would be more active which would make them fitter and healthier. It is only when parents turn the sporting events into an ultra-competitive requirement for their child that it can become detrimental. Because so much can be learned through sports we need to make sure that we put focus on teaching lessons through sports rather than making it all about winning. It is a sad when parents turn a great beneficial thing into something that can be harmful for their children.
The benefits of sports range from physical, mental, and social. Exercise keeps people fit, develops healthy muscle tone, and reduces heart and lung problems (Oak, Manali). People who play sports bond over a common interest. This opens up children to meeting new kids and socializing with many more. In Kindergarten, I played baseball. Even though I did not truly understand all the mechanics of the game, I met new friends and began to develop motor skills. This was very useful starting at an early age and pushed me to stay active throughout my life.
