I love the My Chromebook I believe that chesterfield counties schools should keep the chromebooks in this essay. I will tell you three reason why we should keep the chromebooks. The first reason is paper or chromebooks, Second is health of the students. Third environment this is the most serious part. Paper or Chromebooks Chromebooks are way better then paper.Because paper goes to waste and chromebooks have a ton of space for your writing ,work and other things. Plus nothing goes to waste. Papers also get damaged easier and they are harder to keep track of. If you have bad handwriting which most teachers hate. Chromebooks have fonts so you can type fancy or normal. Also it’s easier to do work on. You can get more information from websites

In addition, textbooks are heavy to carry around and it takes longer to find a page. Likewise with digital textbooks they are compatible with tablets, smartphones, and laptops; it’s much easier to carry around and affordable price. However, some people may argue that digital textbooks can be a distraction for people because they would not bother read anymore. The author and poet Dana Gioia argues that electronics alternatives may be a bad influence that will lead society to not read anymore. Gioia complicates matters further when she writes, “While no single activity is responsible for the decline in reading, the cumulative presence and availability of electronic alternatives increasingly have drawn Americans away from reading” (161). I think Gioia is mistaken because she overlooks on electronics being a bad influence; but doesn’t see the benefits of electronics. To demonstrate, most of my textbooks are digital, which I can easily carry my tablet around where ever I go. Also, I save more money on digital textbooks and are simple to annotated the text. Journalist Ellen Lee interview a student from Liberty University, and he states that he prefers digital textbooks because he can tap his iPad, opens the digital copy and quickly open the page. Nevertheless, he also like digital textbooks because it has a feature that allows to highlight and mark the
The first reason that the School board should continue the Chromebook program is because it gives the students more responsibility. Chromebooks help students practice responsibility because they have to be charged every night, students have to be careful
After shoving all the books, folders, binders, workbooks, pencil bags, a backpack, a coat, and addition items into the locker, barely any room remains. This usually resorts in the demolishing of expensive textbooks by students which is highly wasteful. This is one prime reason chromebooks were seeked out by school districts and welcomed by so many. The chromebook is lightweight, usually weighing approximately 3 pounds, is very slim in size, and is generally eleven to twelve inches in length (Chromebooks and Education: A Perfect Match). One may conclude the chromebook is merely another pricey item to place in a student’s locker, but the chromebook actually allows for students to have online textbooks, email, additional Apps, and a Google Docs. These features may seem miniscule, but to users the chromebook combines all the necessities into one small device. All of the tools that could be found in a student’s locker can be found on the chromebook which makes life a lot easier for students to transport and organize. This feature makes the chromebook desired by many including the school because less money is spent purchasing new textbooks for students, and by the students because instead of having to lug around textbooks, folders, and binders from classroom to classroom, only a chromebook is
However, computers do have some downsides. Basic arithmetic and correcting spelling and grammar are less important to students that have software that virtually does these tasks for you. “…Drilling addition and subtraction in an age of calculators is a waste of time...If we do, then drilling reading in an age of multimedia is a waste of time can’t be far behind” (David Gelernter, p. 187). Children are less likely to read as much. If you see a Shakespeare book next to a laptop, most kids these days are going to choose to pickup the laptop without second guessing it. Computers can also be
Chromebooks are convenient to students because they are more advanced than paper and pencil, saves paper, and are able to do more things. Since it has such a slim design, they are much lighter than textbooks, easy to carry around, and make more space for other supplies in students’ backpack. These are some reasons why they are so much more advanced than regular school supplies. Chromebooks also save paper by replacing it with online documents, allowing access to online notes and worksheets, and greatly reduce amount of paper printed. One final reason is that Chromebooks are able to do more things, such as to check grades, research information for a project, and create presentations.
My mission is to use my degree in Curriculum Instruction with Instructional Technology with my classroom. In doing so I am committed to being consistent, agile, reliable, and accessible to all. I want to continue to teach through technology while encouraging creative and critical thinking. While using chromebooks in the classroom the students will be able to complete online assignments that will be assigned throughout the year. For the students that need extra help they will be able to work on individual assignments. The programs that I am using this year are Prodigy and Mobymax. Prodigy allows students to play and learn math to strengthen skills that they are lacking. Mobymax allows the students to see how they are progressing in all subject
Should students’ textbooks be replaced by laptops? One study done by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) found that 77% of K-12 teachers found technology to "increase student motivation to learn”. Laptops should replace textbooks because they're more Eco friendly, cost less in the long run and are easier for students to carry.
In today’s society, students have access to technology in a classroom setting. “Jeremy Posey, the mathematics coordinator for the National Math + Science Initiative, defines education technology as any tool that can be used to help promote human learning, including – but not limited to – calculators, tablets, Smart Boards, video cameras, digital cameras, MP3 players, Portable Digital Assistants (PDAs), and, of course, the computer” (Posey). Although, having technological advantages can be proactive for learning, these tools can also be distracting. Studies have shown that students who have access to a computer tend to do worse in school. Therefore, there should be a limit as to how much technology should be used in schools.
Most children attend school for about 6.5 hours per day. Some people argue that this not enough time for children to master key concepts while others say that children spend too much time in school and on homework which leaves them little time for family or fun activities. “There are many benefits to year-round schooling—including consistency, less time spent relearning material, and the implications that year-round schooling has for closing the achievement gap” (Lynch, 2016, par. 1). Currently, more than 700 schools have extended their day. Massachusetts extended their school day so that it was 8 hours and found that they went up 44 percent in math,19 percent in science, and 39 percent in language arts (“Should students spend more time in
Writing is one of my favorite things to do in my life. I love it when my awesome teacher gives us a writing assignment. Also, that time I feel so happy because there are thousands of ways to write essays but whatever teacher give us a different way to write essays. In my class, we write differently than another class. First thing we do in class is discussing about other people who wrote essay before with the same topic. Our teacher read aloud in class before, we read by ourself, and annotate every paragraph and write the main idea about the paragraph. Next, we do pre-writing like brainstorming, clustering, focused free-write, summary of TedTalk, vocabulary Log, notes paraphrases and connection for two of the articles also clarify and evaluate
Many people argue that textbooks should not be replaced by tablets and laptops due to the technical disadvantages that they can sometimes have, however, if they take a look at the valuable advantages these devices can have they would probably change their opinions. I believe that textbooks should be replaced by tablets and laptops due to the fact that they are convenient, simple to use, and could provide more information than the textbook if connected to the internet.
Getting educated is one of the most important things in life when it comes to getting a good future. By developing good knowledge of schooling, it helps establish and maintain new information as needed throughout the real world. As books are one the essential tools in learning, eBooks are being used in a everyday lifestyle. Traveling to get away places from city life, helps give reading a comforting feel. Students that use print books are eventually going to use ebooks in the future. By educating students with ebooks, it is more efficient than carrying textbooks; ebooks is more convenient and reliable to read, write and store notes. Print books are being replaced by eBooks, it helps on keeping files together and it makes notes
One benefit of computers is that they help students with school work. Students are able to find things quicker for research papers, etc. Also it can be easier for students to type instead of writing out their essays. Students can get ideas from people through blogs and chat. ( Christine Zuchora - Walske 61)
