Hunting is a controversial topic. Many people think that hunting is just about killing animals; therefore, they think it is wrong. Hunting is something that people have done for centuries. It is a sport that people can learn from, so everyone should go at least once. Hunting is a tradition in a lot of families, it teaches people respect and responsibility, and it provides food for people. First of all, hunting has been a tradition in families for many of years, so people need to go at least once to experience how wonderful it is. How did cave people get the food they ate? It is pretty obvious that they did not go to the grocery store like we do today. They hunted for their food. Hunting has been around for a very long time. It is not just …show more content…
Grocery prices are on the rise, especially meats. Before I started hunting, I spent at least $150 on groceries a week. Since I started hunting, that number has decreased drastically. We hunt deer, turkey, rabbits, and wild hogs. We use deer like we would use beef, use turkey in place of chicken, and use the wild hogs just like any other pork. Wild animals are better; they are not full of hormones or antibiotics and they are also leaner than most store-bought meats. The animals are healthier than the ones raised on feed lots and some farms. Hunting does not just provide meat for my family; we donate any extra meat we have. Many families do not have the money to afford meat now days. We usually try to kill the legal amount of deer. When we do that, we get plenty of meat for ourselves and we are able to it to families in need. Ronnie Ritter, president of Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry, is the link between successful hunters and families who cannot afford meat. He spends most of his time visiting with meat processors and hunters because if it wasn’t for them, he would not be in business. On average, 65,000 pounds of deer meat is donated each deer season. Ritter’s goal is to see that amount go up to 100,000 pounds while he is president. When purchasing a license, there is an option to donate money directly to the Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry program. When people purchased their license in 2012, the licenses brought in $35,000. The next year, there was an option to donate $5 and that brought in roughly the same amount due to people not knowing about the program (Bryan). Saving money and knowing where my meat came from are some of my favorite things about
Cool calm mornings, the fog on the lake is dense and all you can see is your decoys. As shooting hours roll around and the sun is just starting to peak over the horizon, the fog slowly lifts off the lake and the target at hand begins to swoop, lock up and land. What am I talking about? Ducks, one of the most majestic birds at hand, in my opinion. Ducks are one of the best animals to hunt, because one it’s a great challenge and two it is one of the most heart racing sports known to man. But what makes it so heart racing? Well when you’re out there and you hear you’re first mallard quack or your first wood duck whistle you get that deep adrenaline rush, your heart begins to pump faster and harder. Then there they are locking up into your decoys,
If trophy hunters really care about conservation then why do they pay massive sums to shoot rare animals? Although trophy or as some would call it “sports” hunting, is great for entertainment, however, it is not meant to be a fun activity as trophy hunters say the use of wildlife resources is to conserve, but trophy hunting should not still be a leisure activity when endangered animals are targets. The reason why is because endangered animals are becoming more extinct less than a blink of an eye, all just for the financial income. According to the article, Can Trophy Hunting Actually Help Conservation? – Ameena Schelling, “Approximately nine out of every ten hunters said they’d be willing to hunt in places that were poor for wildlife

I have been bow hunting since I was about 8 years old. I am going to go over the basic steps and necessary equipment needed to start becoming a successful bow hunter. Some of the key things you will need during this are a decent set of camouflage, a compound hunting bow and a place to hunt. Despite the time it takes to be successful; bow hunting can be very rewarding.
They are a parasite; like a flea on a dog, or ringworm on a cat. They attach themselves to a location like other parasites attach to a host animal, roaming free to do damage as they please. Wild hogs are a nuisance animal that have quickly become overpopulated and under hunted. Many animal rights activist want to end or strictly regulate the hunting of these destructive creatures; however, these animals were not meant to wander wild the way that they do, once domesticated animals released for sport have quickly adapted to their environment and become the beasts they are today. Many states already allow hunters to go out all year long and hunt for the feral swine; however, in Arkansas, the current hunting law is that a hunter can take a wild hog while legally hunting another animal. Hunters should be able to go out and hunt for wild hogs, not be limited to killing them as they cross their paths or if they are spotted on their land. The only stipulations that should be placed on hog hunting are that the hunter must have knowledge of hunter’s education and a valid state
Hunting is popular among American men and is a delightful pastime for a father and a son. It is not essential that Americans hunt for their food anymore, but that is not why people hunt. They hunt because it gives men a sense of serenity being out in the woods. People enjoy hunting. Those people should not have to suffer because other people like to kill other people. On the other hand, some people might actually need to hunt for food. Not everybody has enough money to feed their family big feasts every night, so they kill an animal to help cut down on the cost of their food bill.
Hunters often reveal that being in nature provides time to clear the mind. In the woods, there is no rush, no schedule, and no deadlines; nature moves at its own pace. This interaction provides a deep spiritual connection with the land, the wildlife, and our planet. Hunting has been around since the beginning of time and has been in many people 's lives for generations, these are some reasons why people all across America continue to hunt. Hunting has many benefits such as reducing deer related car accidents, controlling deer densities in heavily human populated areas, creates jobs, and feeding and supporting families. Thus, deer hunting is necessary for several reasons.
A social outrage has broken recently amid the scandal of Cecil the Lion’s death. Cecil was illegally hunted and killed by the American dentist Walter Palmer. Since then, it has caused the world to change their minds on the effects of trophy hunting. Succeeding the death of the renowned lion, a recent poll in America displays that on a three to one margin, the respondents said they would rather be tourists in a country that prohibits trophy hunting, instead of one that does not. The debate is ascending as more hunters proudly present their ‘trophy’ on social media. Many nature conservatives and animal protection agencies are raising awareness because of the fact that Cecil died in a meaningless and violent manner. The problem is not only in America, but around the globe. Trophy hunting should be illegal in the world because it is merely killing animals without a meaningful purpose, and it produces harmful effects to the environment.
Hunting is a passion for millions of Americans across the United States and without it who knows what the current deer population would be. With the white tailed deer having few predators and a large habitat to thrive in it is important to keep the tradition of hunting going. Besides, the real problem Anti-hunters should be focusing on is the growth of cities and communities because they are what truly hurts the deer population. As long as deer hunting safety remains under control and the deer population stays in tacked, there should be no reason to end future hunts for Americans. To conclude, it is true that many people don’t believe in the ethics of hunting and that is alright, because regardless of how they feel hunting is here to stay for many years to
Guns are viewed as sacred symbol, as it should be, as they took a significant role in America gaining its independence. Gun ownership is very common in the United States. According to recent reports, there is enough nonmilitary guns in the country to arm every man, woman, and child, with a few million weapons left over (Keidan, 2014). With so many guns in our nation, they affect many different aspects of our lives. Some think they affect life in a positive way and that we should have the right but at the same time, the other side of the debate, they say that we need more gun control. So what is more correct, gun rights or gun control? In this paper I will discuss the history of the gun law, if citizens have the right to own guns, how guns are
...s sportsmen have paid more than $13.7 billion. The $495 billion in annual federal tax money made by hunters spending can cover the annual paychecks of 150, 000 United States Army Sergeants (National Shooting Sports Foundation). Related United States spending grew by fifty five percent in 2011; $87 billion went to the nation’s 680,000 jobs from hunting. Hunting is good for business throughout the country especially in more rural areas. With the amount of whitetail deer growing there has been more property damage which hunters decrease the amount of. Whitetail deer in large amounts can cause a lot of habitat damage ("The Economic Impact of Hunting"). In 2010, eleven million meals were given to less fortunate people with venison donations by hunters. 2.8 million pounds of game meat was given to food banks, shelters, and church kitchens ("Deer Problems and Issues").
Hunting demonstrates the ability to protect and provide mainly referred to males providing their families with meat from the animals and protecting their land. (“Modern Hunters Are Stewards of Wildlife and the Environment.”) The economy today is very unsustainable and hunting is the key to feeding the hungry. (“Modern Hunters Are Stewards of Wildlife and the Environment.”) There are many food banks today that will accept the meat provided by animals and feed hungry organizations that cannot buy food themselves. What most people don’t know is most of the money used by hunters that go towards hunting licenses, hunting tags, and hunting lotteries to hunt in particular spots go to wildlife research and habitat protections in that hunters home state. With approximately 12.5 million hunters in the World today a lot more money gets sent to these organizations than people would ever think. Overall, hunting is a positive force because it provides an economic motive for maintaining wildlife habitats. This keeps animals in their own habitats and away from people and their homes as much as possible. Some see this sport very cruel and un-humane but overall it is helping this World out way more than people think. If we didn’t have people who hunt or knew how to hunt we would be very reliant on other foods. Such as farming fruits and vegetables, which could go extinct if something devastating happens. We wouldn’t have the protein and vitamins needed in the meat we eat. Hunting is very necessary, and everyone should know how to hunt or learn soon. It’s helpful now, and will be very helpful in the future if there is a reason we can’t rely on cattle for meat anymore. We will have to figure out other ways to get meat, and without hunting it is very unlikely that
A trip to the state of Alaska, U.S. is incomplete if you didn't go for a hunting adventure there. Somehow, the tourists are fascinated in the whims of hunting in the wilderness there. It might sound unusual to you, but there is a craze among masses which keep an eye on hounding bears. Alaska is among the biggest hunting ranges in entire America. There are many people out there that have made hunting an active apart of their lives.
Boom! An animal struck down lies on the forest floor with dim, glassy eyes. However, this poor creature’s remains will not be given a noble purpose such as for food or clothing. On the contrary, this animal will be left to rot on the forest floor or stuffed and hung on a wall. Hunting for sport is a cruel and vicious pastime that has harmful effects on the humans and animals involved.
Hunting provides a hands-on opportunity to learn in a way that no classroom can imitate. Learning how to clean and butcher your own food is an essential life skill that is frequently taught while hunting. Hunting not only serves as an opportunity to learn, it is also extremely healthy for the individuals who participate in
