Have you ever seen someone abuse an animal because the simple fact the animal wasn’t listening? One day Jimmy was watching his friend Emmanuel dog Lola, Jimmy took Lola to the park and Lola was playing around Jimmy was ready to go and he called for Lola and she wouldn’t listen he went to grab her and she bit him and he kicked her, punched her, and stabbed her at least 10 times he took her home and hide her in the bathtub. Emmanuel came home and ask where Lola was and he found her dead in the bathtub Jimmy tried to cover up his lie but Emmanuel didn’t believe him. Animal cruelty is inflection harm upon any non- human animal, regardless of whether the act is against the law. Animal cruelty shouldn’t be allowed because they experiment on animal pound/shelter kills animals, They abuse animals because they do wrong or not listening. Animal cruelty shouldn’t be allowed to let pound/shelter kill animals. Animals lived in filthy positions infections ran rampant; animals died in cages (Dube). Animals …show more content…
In homes there was domestic violence or physical abuse of children, the incidence of animal cruelty was close to 90% (Siebert). Animals and children were abused almost 90%. Stacy wolf vice president of ASPCA said: “drew a comparison between the emerging mindfulness about animal cruelty and the changing attitudes towards domestic abuse” (Siebert). They’re trying to get people to turn against domestic violence. Through domestic violence animals being abused could signal other things. Dogs aren’t the only animals that are abused elephants are as well in India two calves and two elephants were killed instantly. A train accident is one of the many threats that elephants in India face. This is a situation where we have elephants dying and being chased off areas with human habitations (Gettleman). A conservationist and writer Prerna Singh Bindra said: “railways need to be held accountable”
When I was little my teachers would ask me “Cora, What do you want to be when you grow up”? In reality, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’. When I was around seven, I went from wanting to be a Veterinarian to being an Astronaut, then back to a Veterinarian again. Around age 10, I wanted to be a dentist, even though I hate mouths. Then I wanted to be a Veterinarian again. Junior Year of high school came and when we started to research colleges and careers I heard that Premed programs were so hard to get into, and I wasn’t fooling anyone with my grades. I did some research on Veterinarians and I discovered that the Veterinarians don’t really handle the animals like I thought they did. Then I learned about Veterinary Technicians, they do so much with the animals. I
Many people may argue that animal cruelty laws should not be stricter because abuse to animals and abuse to humans are on an entirely different level; however, the numerous studies connecting the violence to animals with the violence to humans are indisputable proof that lenient animal cruelty laws are not only unethical but also dangerous. Ask your conscious what is the right thing to do, and when it tells you, write to your congressman and ask them to fight for helpless animals’ rights, and if you join organizations such as the ASPCA, perhaps together we can successfully end the suffering.
Keeping animals locked in cages, bored and cramped up in such a small space is an awful sight to show the children. It creates an image in the little minds of children that animals are to be treated like they don’t matter. They say Zoos are a place where children can learn about the wild, exotic animals, but in reality it doesn't teach them anything only that they are meant to be caged up, which is wrong. Also, it is really painful to see the animals bored and lonely, so why should people keep letting them do this to these beautiful creatures. Animal captivity for entertainment should end to let them go to their rightful home.
On the other hand, just as there are laws there are many weak laws that have been enforced to protect animals from cruelty. As a matter of fact not only are the laws weak, but they are also rarely enforced. The reason being is because police officers and public presecutors frequently view animal cru...
Animals are used today for many sources of protection, food, clothing, transportation, sports, entertainment, and labor, but millions of these animals die each year from abuse. “Most of the reasons that people give for denying animals rights are: animals do not have souls, god gave humans dominion over the animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, animals do not reason, think, or feel pain like humans do, animals are a natural resource to used as humans see fit, and animals kill each other” (Evans). It all started in the nineteenth century, when people began abusing animals by beating them, feeding them poorly, providing them with no shelter or poor shelter, left to die if they were sick or old, or by cruel sports. Most of the organized efforts to improve human treatment of animals all started in England. Around the 1800s, there was signs of rising concern for animal welfare in the United States.
Should animals have to go through pain and suffering? Should they have to go without food and/or water? The answer is no. Animal abuse happens everyday and it happens because people are barbarous or because they don’t know how to take the best care of an animal that they have. Whatever the reason it’s still not right and will never be okay. This paper will cover a brief history of animal abuse, the statistics, the signs of animal abuse, and what can be done to stop animal abuse. Animal abuse needs to end for the animals that can’t speak for themselves.
“There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep the animals so the workers would have to put them down (Carol Roach). Researchers have shown that the main animals getting abused are dogs, chickens, horses, and livestock (“Animal...
When an animal is beaten, it not only causes the animal to be physically harmed, but it can also result in the animal receiving severe psychological damage. The abuse can cause the animal to become afraid of all humans, whether they are abusive or not. Not only can the victim become afraid of humans, it can cause it to even be hostile towards people and other animals. For example, if a dog’s previous owner was abusive, that can end in the dog being aggressive towards others due to its fear of being hurt like he/she was in the past. A tremendous part of animal cruelty that people do not recognize is the abuse of animals is linked to the abuse of humans in many cases. Animal neglect correlates with human neglect, which usually involves a child, elder, or other dependent (Animal Legal Defense Fund). In a survey, seventy-one percent of domestic violence victims said that their abuser also turned their household pet into a victim of abuse (Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics). In a study completed in 1983, eighty-eight percent of families under investigation for child abuse partook in animal abuse along with the abuse of their child (Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics). Not only does this cruelty affect the victims, but it can also affect the ones witnessing the violence. When someone is in the presence of violence of an animal or another person, it can affect the
In Stockport England, a woman set an innocent rabbit on fire. The rabbit was dubbed bunny. This is said to have taken place during a family feud. The woman has received what I believe to be a lenient sentence for the crime. I am baffled that for the past six years, the permissive laws have remained the same. I decided to start a petition since I believed that the Welfare Act for animals in the UK, is outdated. It therefore needs to be reviewed and an improved Act that protects the animals adequately put in place. If you share such sentiments please support this campaign. So that we can protect animals and improve their welfare.
The ugly truth is that animals are dying at the hands of their owners everyday, some in very violent ways that can be avoidable given the right solution. Slaughterhouses, puppy mills, dog fighting, and so on, are just a few examples of how animals are being treated badly by people. Animal cruelty is a form of violence which, un...
According to the Humane Society, 4-5 million cats and dogs that live in shelters are euthanized each year! This does not include the total number of pets in families who choose to euthanize their pets. In the article, "Rare White Rhino Population Drops to 3 with Euthanasia at San Diego Zoo," we are told that there are only 3 White Rhinos left in the world, due to euthanizing. According to the Washington Post, a 41-year-old white rhino named Nola, was put to sleep due to a bacterial infection and age-related health problems. It is vital that we stand up and realize what is right for animals. We need to have a voice and speak for them because they cannot speak for themselves. We need to realize that the practice of euthanizing is not right. It is not our right to determine when an animal should die.
The abuse that animals endure at human hands is heartbreaking, sickening, and infuriating. Animals are just as delicate as humans, so why not abuse us too? Animal lives should be just important as ours. No animals should be killed or abused for testing, entertaining, clothing, or hoarding. Every year, millions of animals are being killed and torture for testing.
Breaking News: A police officer was driving home from eating her lunch when she noticed smoke coming from this old abandoned house. While she was driving by she stopped to check the scene. She heard a strange whine coming from inside the basement of the house. In that basement stood an innocent 2 year-old extremely burned pit bull terrier drenched with gasoline (Siebert).
Animal abuse is a serious problem all over the world. “An “I don’t know” attitude is commonly displayed among people when it comes to animal cruelty. Because it is an unpleasant subject, it is easier for people to bury their heads in the sand then to do something about it”-Mahatma Gandhi(Animal Rights Action 1).
Animal abuse and neglect is an issue that is often overlooked in the circus, zoos, entertainment, exotic animal trade, and everyday pet life. Most people don’t get to see the horrors that go in the background of everyday life of animals. Circus animals are beaten and forced to live in undesirable and unsanitary conditions. Zoos are torturing the animals just by having them in an enclosure that is too small. The entertainment business is slaughtering animals to make movies look more realistic.
