Plastic surgery is defined as a procedure done to reconstruct body parts. It doesn't necessarily mean working with plastic, because the word plastic in plastic surgery is derived from the Greek word plastikos, which means ‘to mold’. (Straightdope) Many believe that a man called Sir Harold Delf Gillies did the first modern plastic surgery in 1917. During the World War I, he met a French surgeon called Hippolyte Morestin, who greatly influenced him. After carefully observing him removing a tumor,Sir Harold performed the flap surgery on a World War I soldier who injured himself badly on his face. While Sir Harold is still considered as the Father of Modern Plastic Surgery, people assume that the Indians were the first to perform plastic surgery back in 800 B.C. With this discovery, British physicians visited India to observe the native methods of plastic surgery. (Williams) Over the years, new discoveries are made, which also means that new forms of plastic surgery are constantly performed. As of now, there are various types of plastic surgery, all done on different body parts of a human. Plastic surgery is generally divided into two, reconstructive and cosmetic. ...

... start realizing what true beauty is. True beauty is not a stick thin model, or a tan, muscular model. No one in the media even looks like the perfect images they portray. Just remember that not all good things come from cosmetic or weight loss surgeries. Many risks can occur during and even after the procedure is finished. Before anyone even considers undergoing one of these surgeries, they need to ask their selves, “Is it worth all the risks and dangers?” Many people would have not went through with it if they knew all the dangers that can go along with it. While looks are very important to other people, they would have these surgeries and not even care about the risks. Looks are not as important as many people think they are. Media just makes them think that way. Just think before acting on a decision, because this could be a huge decision is some people’s lives.

Regardless of the influences on the younger generation, unrealistic ideologies of patients, and moral issues others may have, plastic surgery will continue to be a huge part of society. However, society should be focusing on how to encourage others to seek happiness in whatever they seem fit, rather than choose to destroy the aspirations of others who choose to build a perfect body for
The urban rural tension of the 1920’s had to do with the voting numbers in elections, the wage gap between unskilled factory workers and skilled farm workers, and urban people put science as their source of reason over religion. The difference in values and lifestyle of those who lived in rural areas versus those who lived in the city was becoming more different every year, which caused a lot of tension. There were many different reasons and complications that led the tensions to get to the point at which they did, but the three reasons I listed in my thesis are the main reasons, that I thought of, that had the greatest contributions to these tensions. Voting, when it came down to the numbers, was a major reason why rural and urban tension grew to the point at which it did. Urban areas reached the point where they took up over 50% of America’s people, therefore, it took up most of America’s votes.
In addition to the many health risks, unnecessary societal pressure also adds on to the list of why plastic surgery should be banned. As oppose to spending thousands to hide their flaws, people should learn to love and live with them, as they are what essentially make them truly unique.
