Have you ever asked yourself what kind of makeup, hand soap or detergent you are using? Have you ever been worried that you could probably be supporting animal testing without even knowing it? This is one of the most horrible procedures of modern time. Animal testing cause pain and even death to the animals involved only to determine whether a certain product is safe for human use. These living beings are kept in cages for all their lives, they are traumatized by the daily torture and by the different kinds of drugs given; they are left with open wounds, blinded eyes, etc. But, is this really necessary? Is it morally and ethically justified? Every living being, not just people, owns the ability to think, to feel pain, to show affection and …show more content…
Every person in this world should accept the fact that animals are living beings just like us. Additionally, every person should accept that animals are not ours to experiment on, to torture or kill them for our own purpose. It is a well-known fact that they are intelligent creatures and most important – they do have the ability to think, to feel anger and happiness, they want to make friends and to have life partners. Can you imagine the pain they feel when they are separated one from another or when they are simply excluded from the freedom to live only to die for cosmetics? Therefore, if we are against keeping people in captivity against their will, torturing them, doing cruel experiments on them and causing them to suffer and bleed to death then we should also be against animal testing. Consequently, if it is immoral and unethical to torture, do harm or kill a person then it should be immoral and unethical to do the same to these innocent living creatures …show more content…
Nowadays, with the modern technology, it would be really easy to find alternative procedures to find a cure for a certain disease or to test if a certain cosmetic product is safe. Also, it would be easier to find an alternative way to test beauty products instead of making animals blind. Even though it is a fact that experimenting with the help of the advanced technology with no animals involved is cheaper than torturing animals, animal testing is still on-going. This is one of the many reasons why animal testing should be banned and scientists should intensively search for alternatives where no living being will be harmed or killed. Thirdly, animal testing is unnecessary and unreliable because animal organisms are not the same as human ones. Hence, if a certain cosmetic product is determined to be safe after an animal test is done it does not necessarily mean that it is safe for human use. Therefore, we cannot rely on animal testing and we cannot be always sure that a certain product is safe for human use. So, there are lots of animal lives wasted, but many human lives could also be lost if some drug or product cause harm or even death. This is a strong reason why animal testing should be banned in order to save animals and people
Animals are used as a part of experimentations in order to accomplish new openings. A few individuals think that it is satisfactory, while others contend that it is not moral to sacrifice animals for science. Estimated, that fifty to one hundred million of animals are used for tests in the world. Despite the significance of experiments, the quantity of animals and purpose of research are not under any control. Animals testing should be banned under a few circumstances; we can enhance the situation by using alternative ways such as replacement, reduction, and refinement according to International Society for Applied Ethology.
Animals should not be used as test subjects for any research. The innocent and helpless animals’ rights are being violated when they are involved during animal experimentation. These unfortunate animals do not have a choice whether or not they want to be involved in testing. They are not intended for people to experiment on for their own selfish reasons. It is not right to take advantage of the animals because they are helpless and cannot protect themselves. Animals and humans have similarities; they both behave, feel, think, and experience pain. Therefore, animals should be treated with the same respect as humans. The pain and suffering an animal is forced to endure is not worth any new product. It is cruel and inhumane to take advantage of an innocent animal. These tests that use animals to ensure the safety of products are extremely common without people even knowing about it. It is not fair to these animals to abuse their beauty. They are helpless and cannot control what is happening to them. Animal experimentation should be stopped because it violates the rights of animals and harms or even kills the animals.
The testing of animals is rising from pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies because the companies are spending billions of dollars on animals testing in order to make products safer to humans. Test animals are also treated poorly and, because of how they are treated, the animals begin to act differently. The substances cosmetics companies inject into animals are very harmful and torturous to animals, so most animals end up dying or being severely handicapped from then on. Most of the findings and conclusions from animal experimentation do not end up working the same way with humans. Enormous amounts of money are spent on animal testing each year when there are better ways to put the investments for better benefit for our country. Advancements in technology should be used to speed up and improve the process of developing cures for humans instead of continuing to torture innocent creatures. Although animal testing is still being used, the European Union has banned it completely. There are many alternative ways that are in the process of being made but ultimately we need an alternative method that bans animal testing completely.
Hurting an animal is better than hurting a fellow human being right? Well imagine a child being ripped away from his mother in today’s society, for no reason. Would that be considered okay, or kidnapping? Imagine humans being forced to breed, just so their children can be tortured for makeup or a new facial wash. Would that be considered okay, or morally incorrect? People do not see animals as fellow living things, because they do not have the power to say no like a person can. They can’t stand up for themselves, leaving the people of the world to do it for them. Seeing that there are other ways to test out consumer products, why harm defenseless, breathing, loving, beings? With all things considered, animal testing “has no place in science today” (Goodall, 1).
Animal testing is an immoral, heinous, atrocious act. One should never put an animal before his own life; we are all here on earth due to some strand of evolution or the other, making prejudice and other discriminations (man or not) obsolete and meaningless. Those who would think themselves above another creature are each failures in their own individual way. The rights of animals cannot be questioned, it is an inalienable fact that most do not understand, when given thought that is free of bias and the plague of arrogance, as Arthur Schopenhauer once said: “The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality.” In a society as unquestionably advanced as man, a society in which even the consumption of meat is an indulgence and in no way necessary, the duty of treating all life with anything more than a central nervous system is nothing less than a law.
Today, millions of animals are being tested on for the use of human products, causing them to fall ill and die, leaving them no choice but to be experimented on. Animal abuse can be more than what meets the eye. Specifically, animal testing is a form of animal abuse and usually ends in death of a harmless animal. Some might say that there is no other way to test products, but due to the harm that is done and our advancements in science, animal testing should not be tolerated.
An argument people have who are for animal testing in the cosmetics industry is that it helps humans survive and avoid suffering from poorly tested cosmetics. But if people are not to be subjected to these testing and experimentation methods, why are animals? Animal experimentation has been around since the early 3rd century BCE. Back then doctors would cut open and examine the insides of animals before then doing the same to humans (beauty sparkle). The animals frequently used are rodents, dogs, cats, monkeys, even fish and sheep (Beck). The bottom line is animal experimentation and testing in the cosmetic industry for human benefits should be banned everywhere in the U.S, and eventually the world due to the harsh and cruel nature of the testing methods, the stressful environments the animals are kept in during the research, and the fact that the results obtained from animals can be radically different from results obtained from humans.
Do you look for the label “Not Tested on Animals” on the products you buy? The idea of animal testing has been around for a long time. Animal research is a process where scientists test new products or theories that results in the suffer or death of animals most of the time. There are a lot of topics that concerns animal rights being argued at this moments in every corner of this world. Animal research is a major part of us humans science, but we have plunder the rights of the animals. While a lot of people think it should not be justified, there are a lot of opposite views on whether animal experimentation is injustice and should be banned. I believe this procedure is unjustified, and it is more of a tradition since it started a
Animal testing has long played a part in the science of testing, and it still plays a very important role in the medical world. Testing on animals in order to create a cure for AIDS is one thing, but testing on animals for human vanity is another. Animal testing is used to test the safety of a product. It has kept some very unsafe substances out of the cosmetic world. However, in this day in age, animal testing is not the only way to test the safety of a product. Animal testing in cosmetics has decreased over the years. However, it is still used by many companies in America. Animal testing is not only cruel, but it is also unnecessary in today’s advanced scientific world.
For years, animals have been the subject of various types of scientific testing for many different things. But the question is: Is it right to subject animals to this kind of research? Research in medical science and in multiple product testing. Animals are put through countless hours of suffering just for the possibility of it being beneficial to humans. It is not even guaranteed that the research being done, in places such as medical laboratories, will even be effective when it comes to human trials. So shouldn 't we try to spare animals from such cruelty and find alternative testing methods?
Animal testing is the use of animals for scientific and medical research purposes. Animal Research is very customary nowadays, and it became a common and an accepted means of testing by the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The views of the public diverge greatly whether animal experimentation leads to medical breakthroughs or such progress is achievable by other means. The views depend on one’s own ethical and moral values and standards. Although many people believe that animal experimentation should be carried out and is justified due to several reasons, animal experimentation should be abolished because it is a very cruel and dishonest method of testing, it is unnecessary, unreliable, and may lead to the experimenters becoming inhumane.
Animals have held an important spot in many of our lives. Some people look at animals as companions and others see them as a means of experimental research and medical advancement. With the interest to gain knowledge, physicians have dissected animals. The ethics of animal testing have always been questioned because humans do not want to think of animals on the same level as humans. Incapable of our thinking and unable to speak, animals do not deserve to be tested on by products and be conducted in experiments for our scientific improvement. Experimentation on animals is cruel, unfair, and does not have enough beneficial results to consider it essential.
Hundreds of millions of animals die every year from animal testing in the United States. Innocent animals are used everyday in laboratories for biology advancements, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetic testing. They are used to provide information to make better products that are safe for human use. Although animal experimentation has some benefits, the negatives outweigh the positives. Animal testing is killing off innocent beings for the possible human benefit, and with modern technology, there are alternative ways to test products that leave animals unharmed.
Every year, thousands of animals are tormented, and then die during the animal experiments. Another fact is from Vivisection Information Network, there is a rough estimate from the European Union that 10.5 million vertebrate animals were used in animal experiments, which is 28,800 per day or one every three seconds. Around 18.5 million animals were used in the USA per year (Updated). Also, there are still a large amount of animals that have not been registered. Even though there are disadvantages and disagreement in using of animal experiment, there is also some evidences show that animal experiment is inevitable for the future progress, and the human beings would not have greater life quality without animal testing.
Testing on animals should be banned. Millions of innocent animals are being killed each year and are being tested on. Animals weren’t born to be an experiment or to be experimented on. There are alternate ways that we could find out if drugs are effective or not. Also, the millions of money spent on killing animals could be spent on other things.
