Life is like a wild car chase. You either have to jump out of the building or get caught by the evil and vile monsters. When you picture something like this happening you probably think about an awesome action movie that you have watched. Sometimes life is like an action movie, but if you don’t take risks, then something bad or depressing will swallow you whole. If you never try anything fun or exciting, your life will be nothing but a hole of desolation. It is better to take risks and make mistakes than to never risk anything at all because if you never took risks you would always regret missed opportunities, never accomplish your goals, and overlook large rewards. Anyone who is willing to take a risk will never regret missing some of the most rewarding opportunities. About 50 years ago, when my grandma was about my age, she auditioned for a solo her chorus class. However, she was very afraid, but she went to audition either way. She got the only solo of the whole chorus concert. In other words, if she hadn’t have gone she would have never gotten in. A famous hockey player, Wayne Gretzky, once said, “ You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” When I was younger the church …show more content…
For this reason alone taking risks should seem more enticing. Think about a time when taking a healthy risk was an option. Whether you did or did not take that risk, picture what reward would have come out of it if you would have taken it. A famous author once said, “To risk nothing would be foolish and result in little reward, but to risk everything shows true passion and intelligence.” This year I wanted to try out for something in Chorus called “Belle Musique”, but I was to scared so I didn’t go for it. Nothing happened for me. My teacher told me later that week that I have a pretty voice and that I should have tried out, but now I didn’t have the chance. I did not get a reward for doing nothing. Overall, not taking risks is a huge mistake in
“…people need not fear the unknown if they are capable of achieving what they need and want" (79). Both protagonist learned about the dangers of fear through the tribulations of their journey. Although life may constantly though curveballs our way, it is important to learn how to take risks. One must to have the audacity to continue on. Odysseus, a courageous Greek hero, would not have made it very far if he was apprehensive of taking risks. Instead, he sought
Everyone has taken risks whether they be big or not, they will lead you down the path you choose in life. In the short stories Beowulf, Black Heart, and The Deep taking risks was a big part in all three. In Beowulf, there is many risks that he took, but the main one was that he risked his life to save the people that he loved. In the second book Black Heart by Mark Brazaitis, the girl risked her life to make friends with something she knew could kill her because she was so lonely. In the final book, The Deep by Anthony Doerr the main character made risks every day because he never knew if he was going to wake up to see the next.
Taking a risk is something very few people are willing to do. If you think about it all the greats had to take a risk before they succeed in anything. In The Odyssey, Odysseus takes a huge risk fighting in wars, trying to get back to his beloved Penelope. Much like Vincent Willem van Gogh , A painter, who took huge risks living off of his art, but now he is One of the greatest painters of all times. They both risked their lives to succeed in something great.Van Gogh could have gone broke and starved to death Odysseus could have died at sea or in war. People take risks every time they get up and present a paper or show people there art work. You could mess up, but you also could succeed. This quote from book twelve, “ But as I sent them on toward
Helen Keller once said “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all”. Chris McCandless believed in this thought. However, Chris’s “daring adventure” also cuased his quick demise. People risk their lives for many reasons. Perhaps a person is suicidal or maybe they are foolish and ill prepared. I believe many people, including Chris McCandless, risk their lives for an adventure because life is short, and why not take risks while a person still can. Or on the contrary, a person could be seeking a thrill, or attempting to test their worth, or simply trying to decide who they really are.
We all know that staying safe will keep us alive, but it is a boring way to live. The biggest regret a person can have is never trying what they always wanted. As mentioned before, time never stops, so it is crucial that they act now. We fight a battle before we are even born against millions of others to see who will get to the egg first and be fertilized and born. We did not come to this world to just be safe and to be afraid to do new things. We all have a reason to be here and the journey of life is to find our purpose in life. It is what makes life so great, but to get their we must take risks and overcome that fear. People are afraid of taking risks because of failure. They are afraid to fail and not get anywhere. However, that fear can be overcome is they keep pushing and keep trying and keep taking risks. Taking risks will get a person out of their “safe” comfort zones and the result of this can be something so
When it comes to taking risks people tend to view them as unwise, complicated and far out of their comfort zone. As a result, they become frightened and obtain the mistaken belief that they are incapable of taking on new opportunities, which can possibly set them up for success. Such beliefs are what cause people to make poor choices, and thus disable them to live a life worth living. Dr. Seuss, “Oh, the Places you’ll go” was intended to express the various amounts of great places life has to offer, but it is all up to the reader where they decide to go, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. (…). And you are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”(Places). Every single person has control over what they want to be in l...
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
So, instead of getting emotional, accept facts and then look for the opportunity. While this may seem cold sometimes, it is a really great tip on turning negative into positive when you have the chance.
In Chapter 78 of the Tao Te Ching, it begins with the saying “Those who have the courage to dare will perish. Those who have the courage not to dare will live.” This implies that the daring ones who risks their lives will most likely end up being on the brink of danger. Yet refusing a dare is another kind of bravery and it even lessens out the risk of harm. But people does not see the value of this and they seemingly praise the daring ones who is more likely to bring danger into their lives and promote some kind of a gloom and doom. Being a risk-taker according to the Tao, is like committing suicide because it is going against the plan of The Way. People should stay alive for them to follow their nature. It may sound dull, but if people follows the Tao, the less danger he will bring to his life and would even maintain
Roe v. Wade: the Supreme Court case legalizing a woman's right to choose abortion has been around our entire lives. In 27 years, memories of back alley clinics have faded - the past is past, right? Wrong. It's too soon to start taking reproductive freedoms for granted. The next president will appoint two or three Supreme Court justices, potentially changing the Court's position on this pivotal case. George W. Bush supports the Republican call for a constitutional amendment outlawing abortions; do you think he, if elected, would appoint pro-choice justices? And why is it that while the majority of Americans support choice, the majority of Congress votes anti-choice? Are we supposed to just stand by and watch as the government tries to legislate our bodies?
To take a chance, one is accepting the possibilities of what could happen from the choice they have made.
Have you ever woken up in the morning and felt like not going to the college the whole day? Of course you have. You think of skipping all the classes, but then you contemplate on the consequences of the choice. The attendance will suffer. You’d miss out on that important question or in some people’s case you’d miss out on the exam. You vote against it and go. Now in the above case you had a choice of whether to go to the classes or not, and you chose to go. That decision may prove to be fruitful or a rather disastrous one, but whatever it may be you have to deal with the consequences that come with it. We make countless decisions every day, every moment and once a choice has been made, the actions play out, and the consequence is delivered. We have to live with those consequences. Our choices and decisions guide our lives and build our futures. Whether people notice it or not, the choices we make today affect our tomorrow.
Not every event has a guaranteed outcome- sometimes, one has to take a gamble in the game of life. There are some, however, who would prefer to travel within the safe, confined lane of actions with a definite outcome. Deciding whether or not to take risks in life can be tricky, but as Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment.” This quote means that people should take risks in their endeavors, because life is precisely about trying new things and experiences. As the quote explains, taking risks in life is a vital step to success, fulfillment, and gaining more out of experiences.
Being a teenager isn’t easy. You have a lot of things on your mind, a lot of things to worry about, a lot of things to carry and when I mean carry, I mean both physically and mentally. During the 17 years of my life that I have lived so far, I believe that I have never carried this much before. Part of it I think is because it’s senior year. Actually I think that 's the biggest reason why I feel so much pressure on my shoulders. I’m pretty sure that everyone can agree on this, especially if you’ve been through it before. I’m not talking to the adults of course because I know your lives are difficult and what not, but I’m mostly talking to the teens who are currently going through the same stage of life that I’m in right now. Now I’m not saying my life is difficult in any means because I know that I
